So in two weeks, it will have been a year since the new Federation hallways were announced... and never implemented.
After playing as a Romulan character and playing the revamped tutorial (the only place where the hallways have been used) I've seen that Cryptic can actually put out some good interior designs for the ships. But as nice as the Romulan interiors and those new interiors are, Fed and KDF players are stuck with the same crappy interiors we've had for half a decade.
So considering that at least the design for the hallways have been made, could the devs PLEASE actually implement them?
And, can we PLEASE get a ready room, engineering section, etc that comes up to par with what the Roms have on Fed and KDF characters?
A lot of it was actually designed, in the Federation tutorial you get to see several areas of a ship.
Originally that redesigned interior was supposed to be added with Season 8, but only the bridge and tutorial was added.
(A bit like how we were meant to have the Voyager interior but it was only added for missions)
I know that I've been campaigning for this for most of the two years I've been playing. More bridges for the KDF so that the Nausicaan, Gorn and Orion ships aren't using Klingon bridges; more customization to ready rooms (I HATE that fishtank in the Fed ready room); the ability to actually 'assign' BOffs to stations so that your crew is where they're supposed to be...
And instead, the only real change to ship interiors was the addition of the Duty Officers computer because people didn't like actually having to travel the ship to talk to their Chef, Bartender, Counselor, Brig Officer, Chief Engineer, etc...
I don't know if anyone notices this, but the Romulan ready room sacrifices the standard wall trophies for 'storyline trophies' as you play the game; D'Vex's helmet on your desk, the Virinat painting on your wall, a replica Sword of the Raptor Star on your shelf, etc. So why couldn't they do that for Federation or KDF?
"If you can't take a little bloody nose, maybe you ought to go back home and crawl under your bed. It's not safe out here. It's wondrous, with treasures to satiate desires both subtle and gross; but it's not for the timid." -- Q, TNG: "Q-Who?"
^Words that every player should keep in mind, especially whenever there's a problem with the game...
Actually the Intrepid Interior was going to have even less customization (No trophies at all)
It seems they move away from customization rather than moving towards it.
...talking to players is like being a mall Santa. Everyone immediately wants to tell you all of the things they want, and you are absolutely powerless to deliver 99% of them.
In fact, this was explicitly stated in a thread on these very forums, shortly after the bridge became available.
Neat. I don't live on the forums, but glad you do so you can relay this.
That being said, that's idiotic. People have been wanting new interiors for years, and they've designed new ones. Going the extra mile and implementing them for everyone should be an obvious decision.
Cryptic underestimated this wish of the community. It was a first day wish of the community to have (individual) interiors for the different ship classes. Cryptic also underestimated, that players will give money for that.
I payed for the Defiant interior, because its great. Small hallways, small rooms and a great bridge. I don't like the big halls from the standard interior.
I will give money for the interior of the Galaxy class or the Intrepid class too.
The most episodes of Star Trek played on the ships with a crew which interact. This part of Star Trek is missing in that game and Cryptic ignores the player base.

Sarcasm aside, I agree with you for the most part. I'd love to see the Origin interior in-game. I just wanted to clarify that it was never promised.
And since ship interiors are a topic I'm interested in, I can provide you with a little bit of background on them.
The system as it's currently set up is apparently a bit of a mess. Tacofangs has said that every single "standard" bridge (that is, default bridges and those from the C-Store packs) exist, along with the Small, Medium, and Large interiors, on a single, large map. The options you choose in the tailor determine which interior the doors on your bridge linnk to, and vice versa.
Now, I have no idea how practical it might be to add the Origin interior to this mess of a system, but that giant map must be getting pretty large right now.
Anyways, like I said, I agree that the Origin interior should be added as an option. Personally, I'd even be happy if they were to remove the Small/Medium/Large interiors and just had Origin as the only option, but I'm sure not everyone would agree with that.

They have actually said a couple times that they are mostly going to ignore interiors since it does not get them much money from the C-store.......I SERIOUSLY wish i was kidding when i said that, but no, that is their ACTUAL reason. they were not even trying to hide it....
I always thought ship interiors had great potential (C-store potential even) akin to player housing in other MMOs.
Not really, remember in most player housing you could have stuff like storage, bank access, etc. The interiors of out ships are essentially worthless for the most part. this caused most players to basically forget it exists, and thus it makes no money in the c-store, thus waste of time for Crptc to actually try making more or making interiors helpful.
I don't know about the Origin stuff, but we did build an Intrepid Player Interior, which will be released at some point (not sure when exactly), so that's on the horizon.

Thanks Taco for this answer. Everytime its a pleasure to see you answering in the forum to player questions.

Excellent to hear that the Voyager interior is coming! More ship customization is always a good thing.
Also Taco, thanks for venturing into the forums to answer questions - here and the bug fix, and winter event thread. It's always good to see replies and stuff, and I realize we're not always the happiest bunch to deal with in here.

I gotta say, when it was teased that the interior sets we saw in the revamped Fed tutorial would be usable for player ship interiors at a later date, I was on the edge of my seat hoping to get a new alternate set of generic ship interiors to use for my non-TOS Connie, non-Defiant, and soon-to-be non-Intrepid ships.
If a three set of the Origin interiors were to come out so I could swap them around like I do with the basic interiors, I'd be all over that, even if I had to pay for it. >_<

There's already a lot of Origin assets in the game.. Not only the Tutorial, but also the USS Kirk uses the Origin interior.
Please just update the interior for Starlfleet vessels to use the more realistic hallways. I don't see how hard it could be since there are already a lot of Origin assets ready.

Best thing we can do is buy the Intrepid interior when it comes out to show Cryptic that while there may not be money in generic bridges, full interiors are worth it.

The Origin-style interiors (aside from the bridge) were never intended to be given to players.

The Intrepid interior is on the way.

It was clearly intended to become a proper interior but was then just dropped.
From the blog that you just linked to:
Bridge. Not interior.
Trophies is pretty much the ONLY reason I even bother going after ground kill accolades...
