ok, im surprised that my patience was tested and...... nobody mentioned/ranted that cryptic says 1 and acts with 2.
"We are a game of casual players"
so thats implicate that we:
-need to level from 50 to 60 which takes more effort than from 0-50
-Need to level each toon seperately. So lets quadruppel or octadruppel or XCMIII the effort
-need to level each of this toons even further into specilizations
-need to "spend time" with several ships with each toon to get ship's mastery and unlock ship traits. Multiply this with the thetraoctapentical number of toons
-fleet advancement system no more --> craft/upgrade your current stuff to MKXIV with fancy mods n(=gambling)
-no time to do pvp or other fun things you really want to do
-just another new reputation to do for each toon (no, the sponsorship does not count)
-all this only possible by repeating same missions over and over.
......
.....? uh?
So I guess I have less up to date pvp toons and more farm/exchange/obsolete toons. gladly I can alsways vPVP with them.
pvp is not just bad for noobs to try to get into I even stopped. I cant play the game enough to even keep up with the old way I was running mkxi blue consoles and very few fleet ones with rep on like level 3. I was able to hold my own even take out some of the best of the pvpers.
Now ha good luck I will be finely getting my fleet stuff while the people that can play 5 hours plus a day are playing matches with epic mkxiv gear, ships maxed, and chars maxed.
pvp skill can only take you so far vs gear and rep stuff like that

This is exactly how I have been feeling. Started right about prior to their release of the Romulan faction.
The game is truly designed around the return player investment.. the ones that come back.. drop a few bucks on new shines.. play for maybe a month, maybe sub for a month also, then leave.
STO devs need to understand, there are BETTER and more enjoyable games out there that demand LESS from the player. Eventually people will stop coming back no matter the shinnies. Star Trek IP be damned.
You think that your beta test was bad?
Think about this: American Football has been in open beta for 144 years. ~Kotaku
Craptics idea of game play grinding a few select missions over and over and over and over and over and over again and again and again for a ever decreasing reward :-(
Gotta say I'm liking DR so far. I can't see is so mcuh grindy, except for 50-60 which seems a bit tedious.
Anyway, it becomes a grind if you force yourself doing stuff you don't want to do. Breaking news, you don't need to be level 60 to PvP, it automatically matches your ship to Fleet Admiral, no wonder my Odyssey jumped from 74k to 102k hull.
the difference between MK XIII and XIV of same rarity is about less than one tenth. Your pick if that's acceptable. As far as it goes for me, I'm upgrading consoles everywhere, and weapons on tacs.
OP assumes that all players have ADHD and need to be at L60 / Full Mk XIV / Specs / Reps NAOW. Or else will QQ and leave.
The reality, I suspect (but cannot prove, of course) is that a large proportion of the playerbase are happy to work through the narrative missions with a low-to-middle spec build because it's fun and Trek themed. People with the above attitude simply tend to be most vocal on the forums.
Personally? On a quick calc, by Christmas my 3 mains should all be on the specs above, doing not much more than DOffing and running delta rep missions. I can be patient. After all it's not like there's any point in the insane arms race of PVP any more...
