Public Service Announcement! Wear Protection!

Howdy gang!

I didn't see a post for this, so I thought I would put one up. A lot of us are doing Bug Hunt Advanced. It's a good mission, and pretty much a surefire way to get an Ancient Power Cell.

BUT! A lot of people don't know, the Basic Tholian Combat suit they give away in the rep boxes offers Toxic Protection. NEARLY ALL the bug's attacks are TOXIC damage, even the mind control one!

I've verified it myself, and even convinced others to try it. Wearing a suit makes things a heck of a lot easier.

Also, so you know, SOLANAE SUITS DO NOT PROVIDE TOXIC RESIST.

Check it out for yourself, they actually don't, and wearing one makes you easier to kill. I know the Federation and Romulan Space suits also provide toxic resist, so those are good options too.

Spread the news. Make things easier on yourself. Wear protection!

There's a metric sh*tload of armors or shields that have the [Mob] [Tox] combo. They work too.

Counter Command Set is best for this. All 4 pieces can stack additional toxic resist. Combine with toxic resist traits and the fluidic tribble and you'll take significantly less damage. That doesn't mean you can charge in and tank everything though. You're not invincible. :P

This may also be the only instance where it's awesome to be a Bolian. :D

This is great too! The thread is simply to spread awareness that this is a damage type we don't usually encounter, and to have people actually check what kind of gear they are bringing in.

That bit of armor you have stashed away in the bank might actually be a lot better than what you're wearing in this case.

Oh.....excuse me. I have a few phone calls to make.

    *taps communicator*

Engineering. It's the captain. Listen....turns out the Solanae suits do not offer as much...protection as we thought. So maybe you guys should go get yourselves checked out.....Sorry.

    *taps communicator again*

Tactical? It's the Captain. Yeah, bad news....

    Hahaha.

Yeah. I figured the bit about Solanae suits being crappy in this case would blow a lot of minds.

Or a joined Trill.... they have an innate toxic resist too.

Smiling here because I didn't dump my Tholian Rep-awarded spacesuits, despite preferring the Solanae spacesuits. :)

Thank you for sharing this insight, theagoeb! :D My Bolian is going to enjoy this, too!

And don't try to upgrade them, just putting them into the upgrade window will turn them into normal Polyalloy/Shields.
Beta, LTA, CE, Multiple preorder Versions, all Addon Packs except AoY, nearly all KDF/Rom and ~50% of all Fedships, over 25 LockboxShips, Endurer of Atari's "Year of Hell", but...
    unfortunately:

    NOT LOYAL ENOUGH!!!

I could imagine Kirk giving out a community service announcement on safe sex, he does have large interest in condom company's. Being their best customer, mainly for the last five years.

Where NO MAN has gone before...I was hoping to talk about this and not a D... suit

The nukara tribble (available free in the c-store) gives toxic resist and it stacks with the armor.

Yeeeeahh. Why don't you take your TRIBBLE somewhere else. We are having a honest conversation about game mechanics, and both your posts are unrelated to the point of spam.

We have a nice shiny "DOOOOM" Thread over that-a-way.

    Have a nice day.
