Rifle butt power is active for every shot

Here's a weird bug for you.

I have 1 character with this problem out of 9.

Problem: on the ground combat every time I shoot at an enemy the rifle butt power activates. This happens as long as autofire is active.

Work around: If you deactivate auto fire and click the single shot button every time it works fine.



This has been going on for several months now and I was just not doing ground missions at all. But now with the new missions I would like to get this resolved.


I have tried everything I can think of from restoring the defaults from the options menu, Changing weapons, Changing power tray locations, etc.

Anybody have any ideas?



If a dev looks into this I tried to file a bug report, But after typing a lengthy report it said there was profanity in it and closed the ticket. There was no profanity in that report at all! need to check your filters. Does it consider rifle Butt a profane word?

    Here's an old bug report I filed that was also blocked by the profanity filter.

    Creative trait not affecting engineering captain and kit powers

    I don't see any word in it that might be considered profane. I suggest you do what I did: Submit an in-game bug report with a link to the forum thread.

    Make sure you don't have the 3rd ground "rifle butt" slot highlighted while in autofire mode, this is a known issue when using autofire, only highlight the 1st and 2nd weapon slots.

    Thanks, I'll do that.

    And to frtoaster, I removed the power from the bar but you did get me to thinking. 10 bars right. May be somewhere up there for some unknown reason. I will check.

    3 attempts but finally got it to take the bug report. ticket # 2,822,268

    ps, checked all 10 bars with no luck :(

    p.s. to the dev that checks this. it was my romulan sci not my fed sci I posted the report on.

    What part of "this is not a bug" wasn't understood? When in autofire mode having the 3rd slot "melee attack" highlighted and active causes you to continually attack the air in front of you. But it's not a bug because if an enemy is in melee range it will attack. The way around it though is to only set the number 1 and 2 slots to autofire. and triggering the 3rd slot manually when needed.

    It's worked this way since day 1 of this game.

    The part of this is not a bug. when I removed the rifle butt power from the tray so it is not even there. The only power with auto fire highlighted is the single shot of the rifle. and the rifle butt fires off even if the target is at max rifle range.

    The only 2 weapon combat abilities on the bar at all are the primary and secondary powers of the rifle and that's it.

    I apologize then, because that is a bug, triggering powers that aren't slotted is kind of weird.

    Thank you chuckwolf, Sorry if I sounded gruff, I was half asleep after a long day and had taken sleeping pills so was groogy and not really all there when I posted.
