So I've had an account since beta; been playing off and on(really only come back every few months) and I haven't really played since the material store thing was added. In my bank i'm looking at almost a full bank with stacks of random particles/gases/etc from back in the day. Hovering over it , it says 'open material conversion store'.
Question being do all of these go into a specific item, or do you pick what it converts into; or is there anything else to do with these anymore? Secondly, I don't know where to use these anymore? Looking at the R&D tab they dont use common/uncommon crafting materials but rather named items again(IE: duterium, etc) so I'm slightly confused.
The conversion is random. A real bummer with the old particle traces since they don't necessarily convert to the new rare materials. The crafting materials themselves are used to make components and then those components are used to craft usable items.
On a related note, has anyone figured out how to deal with the changes to the material conversion store, now that it gives you tokens instead of directly converting to the materials?
I have converted hundreds of old crafting stuff to the new crafting materials. The old way, before 9.5, simply did the conversion and dumped everything into the R&D inventory at once, which was great when you had a lot of things--it took as much effort to do 100 items as it did for 1. NOW, however, you wind up with a common crafting material item in your inventory, which you click to use and it places the new crafting material in your R&D inventory. HOWEVER, you can only do one at a time!
So I have almost 400 items, and I have to now right-click, then click use for EACH ONE. Is there a faster way to do this, or did the programmers simply fail to try out their own code?
I ask you, what was wrong with the old method, other than the minor (and I mean REALLY minor) issue of it not working if your inventory was full? It worked great!
Any tips to do this "en masse" would be most appreciated, because my wrist will not let me click 800 times to get these items.
Yeah, the first step of conversion still has that, but how did you receive the converted materials? Did they go straight into the R&D inventory, or did they wind up as tokens in your regular inventory? That's where mine showed up, once the 9.5 update came out. (Before 9.5, they went straight into R&D)
MOST went straight to the R&D tab, but many still went to the general inventory tab, as well many mission material drops (i.e. from freighter raids) and material scans did too. I still have to put them into the bank from the inventory tab, then drag them back to the R&D tab to get them deposited right. Thankfully they stack to 1000 now.
Anyone know if the accolade counts the converted traces now, or still uses the old traces ?

I sold most of mine. They were worth more on the ah as old mats than post conversion mats since so many ended up white/green. Especially the traces. Though currently with people not knowing how to doff for crafting mats you might do better converting them than when I last checked.
Nitpicking is a time-honored tradition of science fiction. Asking your readers not to worry about the "little things" is like asking a dog not to sniff at people's crotches. If there's something that appears to violate natural laws, then you can expect someone's going to point it out. That's just the way things are.
The conversion slider is broken. If you try to convert 100 at a time it dumps them into your inventory as an intermediary stack that is supposed to auto-unpack into the new R&D mats but doesn't. When that happens you'll have to manually open each box to get the new R&D mats.
If you only convert 50 (or maybe 80 according to weirgreif) at a time instead of setting the slider to 100 then it properly auto-unpacks the stacks directly into your R&D tab.

Oiy...I read this thread just after I converted 2000 old mats.
Now I have 20 stacks of "common crafting materials"
OMG.
Major bummer that my blues and purples also turned into commons. Wish Cryptic had posted "WARNING DO NOT CONVERT MORE THAN X AT A TIME OTHERWISE YOU WILL GET CTS"

Edit: I believe I clicked on the bottom list of all the types of materials available to bring up the slider.

I'm sure your DPS is great, but as Kahless said, "a petaQ with high system mastery is still a petaQ." (Well, he should have said it...!)

"suck it up princess" lol
You have to do the conversion in your Inventory screen, so move the item out of the Bank into your inventory and then convert.
