Hey everybody,

http://skillplanner.stoacademy.com/?build=stonewbievesta_0

Building up my Vesta T5-U and wanted to get your thoughts on it. This will be my build once i hit 60, but it will probably end up staying XII for a while and i will upgrade piece by piece whenever i get a chance.

I'll be getting the particle manipulator trait eventually, but i dont know if all the gear i have put together will be able to get me to 400 pg. The Romulan 2pc bonus gives me 16.5 pg and the deflectors themselves have no pg. Switching to a Dyson or CC deflector only gives me an extra 10 pg. And also i lose the Romulan 3pc set bonus which seems like a nice CD to have. Nukara console gives me another 17 pg but i would have to trade in one of my fleet neuts for it.

As far as the rest of the build goes:

-I know that there is no experimental rom plas BA...not getting one because they arent upgradeable.

-doffs: tbr pull, gw aftershock, sensor scan debuff, deflector recharge time, conn officer evasive manuevers

-power presets will be max weapon, max aux i dont think i will be able to put any left into shields or engines. OR maybe i will raise shields, engines and aux just enough so i get the AMP bonus for all subsystems.

-tier 4 and tier 5 skill points in Starship Hull Plating and Starship Armor Reinforcements. If i run two fleet neut will i need 6 points in each one of those? or can i drop it down a bit?

-elite scorpions: if i'm going to be in close range all the time because of tbr pull, ewp, and gw do scorpions make good close range pets? I'll be in close and so will they. Personally i do not like how pet ai behaves when they have cannon type weapons and they are in close range of a target. Thats why right now i'm using advanced danubes because they have a 360 beam array.

This is a very, very nice build indeed. But I feel asif you've forgot the most basic thing to any ship build.. The Universal Assimilated Module. I simply think it's a must on all ships, even if it does mean giving up one of those Particle Generators. Other than that, this looks absolutely amazing! All that's left to do is upgrade them to Mk XIV Epic! ;)

    Thanks,
    Brad/
    Thanks,

Assimilated module *is* in there, in the last engineering console slot. XIV is probably going to take a while though. So i may end up running XII at 60 in a T5U for a month or two.

If you're going for an exotic damage with inverted TBR, I would probably suggest:
-Runabouts (They have omni beams and holds to further compliment the playstyle.)
-Move the KCB to the Front and consider getting a plasma Omni (Inverted TBR+Warp Plasma = stuff will generally end up behind you, this lets you put more firepower on that facing.. while continuing to drag things for extra damage.)
-Swap TBR and Gravity Well; consider possibly dropping GW to double-up on TBR. (Maximize your damage output with all those particle gens)

    Additionally:
-Consider replacing an armor console with either Spacial Charge Launcher(Particle Gen AoE; several shots at fixed locations - great for immobilization builds) or Plasmonic Leech(Since you're running Energy Weapons, you may as well overcharge power and drain it from everything else in the process).. or both.

Opps looks like i did forget to put one of my consoles up there, PL should have been on there too. At least that saves me the cost of one eng console. I only have 1 fleet neut right now but i think i'll stick with that.

I may consider dropping the GW and getting two TBR too. Once i settle on what instances i will be doing at 60 and once i've found a purpose for myself i'll use that info to fine tune my sci boff abilities. One of the things i dislike about TBR is its 3 target limit though. One thing that i've been doing is using TBR to bring together two packs together that wouldnt be pulled in by GW3. Drag one pack closer to the other pack then pop GW to clump them up and then pop an EWP around them. But thats one of the things i will have to test out at 60 too . With 5 +th consoles and threat skill points if popping GW3 gets me too much aggro on too many things for too long and i'm not able to keep myself up with the healing i have then i would be ok with TBRs 3 target limit and dropping GW.

Ohh and also about the hangar pet...right now i'm leaning towards the yellowstone, E. swarmers or E. Widows.

Yellowstone has EWP but i wonder how often it hits anything. Swarmer are weak of course but they have AP weapons and BO3. If i play it smart that could work really well with sensor scan and analysis. Widows have a 360 beam array (i think its 360?), a DBB and quantums. I want to get UR Scorpions but the latest trend in content has lots of AOEs (Voth and Undine). My main reason for wanting Scorpions was for the heavy plasma torpedoes. But with all the AOEs going around those will end up being mostly useless. And as mentioned there is the issue i was worried about with their two sets of cannons.

Forgive the ignorance but I just started playing again yesterday. I just learned there is a doff that inverts TBR, but I can't find out what it's called or where it comes from. Could anyone help? I'm a sci captain flying the recon explorer and I'd love to try a build different from a pseudo escort.

Graga Mal, it's really nice but a bit expensive now.

Combine it with warp plasma and the level 15 science crafting trait, particle manipulator, and you'll be melting things within their shields.

For hangar most people slotted Scorps from rom; or swarmers for the longest time afaik. 0 experience with widows/yellows.

Well i kinda addressed why i cant get Scorpions. I want to get them but i just dont think it would be a good idea. In the old borg STFs i suppose they would work fine. But any content where there is tons of BFAW, Tykens, GW and any other AOE their heavy plasmas are useless. Also one pet peeve of mine with hangar pets is on my Voquv w/ BoP pets they have a turret and cannons. BUT a majority of the time they will orbit a target at close range and fire their turrets only! Thats why i was leaning more towards hangars with 360 beam arrays.

Particle Manipulator comes from crafting levels right? So this isn't exactly a casual friendly build. Hmmm.

Graga Mal goes for between 10-15mil. The day i bought mine i saw only one on there for 10mil but it quickly went away. Then i saw another Graga about 30minutes later get put up for 90mil. But over several hours the people put up more and more with the prices steadily decreasing. After a few hours of that one getting posted for 90mil i managed to buy one for 15mil.

If you were to guy one right now you are only looking at 12mil E.C. Using current exchange prices the equivalent pricing is below.

    12million E.C.
    6 master keys
    636 zen
    100500 refined dilithium

Particle Manipulator is the one that takes a long time though. If you do daily projects in science for i think 30-45 days i think thats how long it takes to get to level 15. But for particle manipulators you want to shoot for 400 or more particle generators. Which means fleet science consoles. Other wise you will have to use regular PG consoles and just settle for less crit chance on your PG damaging abilities.
