I see the reasoning on Cryptic's side. They want to reduce the dilithium influx so players would buy more zen.
But the changes that Delta brought to PVE are horrible in my opinion.
We were promised epic battles, teamwork and exciting fights, but that's not what we got!
Basically all that changed is the HP of the enemy. They don't hit harder, they have no new abilities, they aren't even spawning more frequently (except in a few rare cases like ISE). But they have ridiculously high HP.
The Crystalne Entity has 22.000.000 HP! Twenty-two-milllions!!!! Is it harder to kill now than it was before? No, because it still fires the same beam at us, it still has the same support spawns etc. And even those are not real match. Ok, a Tholian Orb Weaver has 750.000 HP or so and it is harder to kill, but overall, none of the STF missions give us any more challenge (maybe except of CSE) than they did before the update.
Most of us played these STFs hundreds of times and we can walk through them blindfolded. And these missions didn't change that much at all. BUt instead they became tedious, monotonous, boring. Even having a full team of endgamers with T5Us and T6s it takes for almost an eternity to shoot down the Crystalline Entity, Donatra, Manus or whatever big bosses you're fighting. All you do is click shot, click abilities, and repeat. For half an hour, with no real challenge because you're already way beyond the level that something like a Borg Cube could be a serious threat to you. So yoU're sitting there, overbored and wait for that damn enemy to finally fall...
I doubt that this was the intention of the developers, but that's what we got.
How a newbie is supposed to complete those missions ?
Escorts (who were glass cannons) now are ridicoulus in PVE too (enemies have too much HP and kill you).
So wow, nice move jackass ... escorts were just too powerful -_-
This was a fine game (it had to be balanced, but it was funny), now its only TRIBBLE.
I'm not going to play this game anymore, too many idiots in the high places
Not just queues... been doing patrols (already the least fun thing in STO) on Elite for more XP.
The enemy ships do so little damage I don't have to heal myself at all, but it just takes forever. It's not designed to be challenging in the least, it's all designed so slow everything down unnecessarily.
Maybe we were going through stuff too fast before, but there has to be a middle ground somewhere.
I see the reasoning on Cryptic's side. They want to reduce the dilithium influx so players would buy more zen.

Hi,
I think this is all down to user preference, skill and opinion. I can certainly notice a significant different between all STFs with Advanced and Elite options. I think most certainly the difference is that team work is really essential, in everything other than the Crystelline Entity. For some, this causes great challenges. Countless times have I now joined queues set up in channels such as 'PublicEliteSTF' in the hope of finding a good team, who are willing to work as a team to achieve the overall goal of winning, and they simply don't wish to participate in a team, and we fail. It's the fact that you MUST work in a team, and you MUST have some very good gear to take on the Elite STF's that makes it more challenging, rather that solely the stats of the enemy.
Overall I must say I am very pleased with the updates Cryptic has made to the PvE queues with regards to difficulty (as well as the new maps, although several bugs need fixing). They have done well in providing a variety of difficulty levels all individually suitable for different types of players. I think most fail to see it now, but in time people will love Cryptic for this update, and stop complaining that everyone will suddenly leave because it's "too difficult". I say grow up and play or go back to Star Wars, which is poo. (Off subject there but necessary :P)
Thanks,
Brad.
Thanks,

Newbies aren't supposed to complete Advanced/Elite missions, they are supposed to do Normal Missions until they are no longer Newbies an become Advanced and/or Elite players.

My point exactly is that "harder" missions doesn't give you any more challenge than the easier did. They require exactly the same amount of teamwork, the only real difference is that it takes longer to shoot down your enemy. That's not challenge, especially because only high-end captains go to elite missions whose characters and ships are almost indestructible by anything the AI can throw at them. That didn't change, all that changed is the HP of the enemy which means it just takes longer to kill them, but doesn't present you any new challenge.
Newbies aren't supposed to complete Advanced/Elite missions, they are supposed to do Normal Missions until they are no longer Newbies an become Advanced and/or Elite players.
Well, I got fleet ha'feh, with elite fleet weapons and gears, vulnerability locators and still can't match an Elite Borg Cube (not the tactical one).
Escorts were TRIBBLE before delta rising, they were TRIBBLE because Cruisers deal more damage and are way impossible to kill ... this game is way unbalanced, its ridicoulus.
You know what ? One day, you'll find I was right -_-

Escorts don't have enough shielding. No matter what, you know that their weakness. I don't use fleet weapons or fleet gear. I do have very rare mark 12/13 gear. Value totals are off and can't judge them unless your either in space or on the ground depending on what your working with.
Borg Disconnect is different I am doing very well in that and end up with very rare purple. I see other's not doing so well. The other Borg PVE are now next to impossible to complete if the team is weak. I can't do it all myself and there are many times I have to do it without support.
Oh yes developers can't be held for this. Comes from upper management. I am sure this company is run like most I've worked for in business.

CCA is easy, you just need a bunch of people with decent builds and half a brain.
At worst the Crystalline Entity should only have a recrystallize stack of 10. It should not have a stack of 50 and certainly not of 200. Yet you still see stacks in this amount, thanks to players who keep getting right up close to the Crystalline Entity or not moving to avoid the shards flying towards them.
When it hits the higher numbers the CE is ripping through shields, destroying tanking cruisers, reducing the amount of damage it receives (and therefore slowly regaining health). From a gameplay point of view this is fine, since it should never have gotten to those numbers anyway.
As for the equipment, you can easily do it without any reputation gear. Elite fleet shields, fleet consoles, Solanae deflector, decent engine.
Low HP targets are vulnerable and susceptible to Spike Damage Builds.
Most Escorts and a lot of PvP Builds are designed around Spike Damage.
Big Hits. Big Boom. Wash. Rinse. Repeat on next target.
High HP targets are vulnerable and susceptible to Pressure Damage Builds.
Prior to Delta Rising, you hardly ever saw anyone outfitting their ships to deliver Pressure Damage.
Now all the One Shot Wonders are getting left behind ... and whining about it because they don't rule the roost anymore like they used to in Escorts Online.
One thing people ignore even with the CC...Torps. CC is ' weak vs kinetic ', this is even stated to you in the briefing. Yet people spam ONLY energy at it. So many...nearly ALL the DPS builds are energy, nothing but energy because's it's the easiest to rack up higher. Cryptic even makes energy the easiest to rack up higher by giving ships with bonus to weapon power or transfor weapon power to Aux power to boost weapons that use Aux power. Another thing that makes energy so popular is that it's no set to a global cool down like Torps are =.=
Need to start thinking outside the Energy box. Kinetic being an open option for everyone, CC and even Borg are weak to this. Particle is another as it ' Ignores shields ', (everyone is weak to this) but is not as open for every one. The most lovely and I don't know why more people use it Hargh'Peng Torp...this thing is all torps rolled into one and goes beyond them by truly ignoring shields.
I do have a Torp boat...and you know what. It's got a few first place awards for PvE events. People dis Torpboats because they have lowest bleed through damage. And this is with ships that boost weapon power that on a Torpboat is set to zero because it is not used.
More about Torpboats...other then a couple ships even now and with a couple Rep unlocked traits. Sci ships are best running mostly torp to get more Aux power for Particle.
Would be nice to get ships with a bonus to Torps, there are iconic ships that ARE torpboats as cannon. Steamrunner and Akira.

Kill everything else eh ?
Sounds easy were it not 15+ ships with half a million hit points each.
Borgs should be borg: resistent and dangerous... however I also thing there is a lot to tune:
1) normal queues are still too easy, you can do a good job even if you are really far far away from being ready to play advanced. This also because there is too much gap with advanced queues... IMHO normal should be a bit harder and advanced a bit more easy.
2) devs should tune better borg ships: ex in csa bops and raptors are too much resistent, while nanite generators and cubes are still too easy to destroy (they were harder before DR).
3) borg ships are resistent because of huge hull/shields points... so the feeling is of a tedious long battle, just a matter of dps and (eventually) some crowd control. Borg ships should be resistent because of regeneration and/or because of their letal weapons and/or because they debuff ours ships. I think pve queue should be harder because of a better AI, the way choosen by devs makes the game boring much more than challenging.

This is just silly, even story Vaadwaur on advanced have up to 480k HP and that's JUST hull, I've killed Borg drones that have adapted to my weapons when I've not bothered to remodulate faster than I do Vaadwuar ships (and I have no shortage of dps at about 12 to 15k) I'm falling asleep waiting for these things to die.

Really? Running the same Borg STF's over and over and over and over again for at least 4 years DIDNT make pve boring and tedious?
The problem I think isn't the difficulty settings. As I've gotten further in level (missed this weekend since I was away, but I'm at 55 now), I've noticed the HP scale-up on ships even in the episode content taking a very dramatic curve upward, instead of steady advancement. This is baffling, because the 50-60 transition is probably one of the lowest DPS increases of the entire level advancement of a character. Your ship is not gaining new weapon slots, nor are you gaining access to entirely new levels of boff powers. The ship HP doesn't scale like that for players either. What is amusing to me though, is that the carrier pets actually seem to also be benefiting the same way the AI is. At the very least, they seem to have similarly monstrous HP at 60.
Really? Running the same Borg STF's over and over and over and over again for at least 4 years DIDNT make pve boring and tedious?
Of course it did, but at least you could complete those missions.
Let's be honest: cryptic excluded from PVE everyone who didn't reached 20-30K DPS
So people who spent years and money to buy and upgrade the ship they liked are now fuc*ed-up by Cryptic, and this is not acceptable.
Devs should have introduced new PLAYABLE content, but they didn't:
- Hive Onslaught: Broken and Bugged mission, very boring and tedious.
- Voth Missions: Good missions (before Delta Rising), but they were still boring.
- Fleet Missions: Boring
- Nukara Missions: Boring
- Rom Marks Missions: Boring
The only good ones were ISE, KASE and CSE.
The point is that Cryptic destroyed the chance to play for free, this is not a Free to Play game anymore.
They should create a new difficulty level for existent missions instead of increase it.
This way, end-game players who spent tons of money will have their challenge and even a better reward, but other players could still play their game as they always did.
Change is a part of this game. It can be totally frustrating at times. So, I certainly understand where the OP is coming from.
I get it. It's not as easy to grind dilithium from STFs anymore. Before DR, we had it way too easy. It was good while it lasted.
If you want help, ask for it. If you aren't going to ask for help, then get in the game and blow stuff up!
Don't worry, they have to nerf the STFs anyway. If all you have are grind mechanics and then you make the actual grind a chore, people will just leave your game.
