Tr-116b, MACO, or AMACO

I'm looking for the best PvE ground weapon for both my Fed Tac and Eng. Assume I can afford a Tr-116b. I also have the reputation and marks for Omega weapons. In the video below, the author dislikes the Tr compared to the MACO. In a later video, after the upgrade patch, he calls it about the same as a MACO. In your experience, what is best? Thanks

I've used them all and I really like the TR-116. The TR-116 is expensive, but since it's an account bound item, that mitigates the cost to some degree. After I'm done playing with a character, I'll dump it in my account bank for the next. As far as damage, it bypasses shields, so it kills things quickly. The Borg can't adapt to it, so that's another plus.

I like the TR-116b. When it comes to PvE, I will shift between reputation associated gear. MACO Is the best in the game. TR-116b is a nice evolved pulsewave: however; I hate the long waits between firing shots. Whenever I see my avatar pause between shots, I psychologically feel like I am not contributing enough.

Before Cryptic increased the damage of beam weapons, I use to always use the infamous Antiproton Mini Gun. Now, I use only one type of weapon. High Density Beam Rifles. Unless Cryptic makes an adjustment, I will forever default to high density beam rifles.

The TR-116B is absolute MURDER on anything with shields. On anything with no shields, the 4 mods of shield penetration are absolutely worthless. 8472 NPCs come readily to mind. But anything with shields, it's very, very strong since you can look at shields and say, "IDGAF." Even if you get the TR-116B, you'll need something else for unshielded NPCs. But those types are very few. Also, an immense luxury with the TR-116B is that against Borg, you no longer need to remodulate your 116b against them. It's kinetic.

As far as the MACO or AMACO gear, it's all preference. There are guys that swear by either weapon type, either gear set. Both are great, yet different. Can't go wrong either way.

Hell, you can get MACO or AMACO gear and still have the 116B since you can equip 2 weapons at the same time.

If its single-target, the TR-116b is the strongest weapon currently avaiable. However, considering buffs and debuffs, a real pulswave (no amaco) can be superior to groups (AoE-"One"hits even in elite stfs even with a Sci).

Maco is trash, Amaco is nice as secondary, especially with 2pc for Adrenal booster.

yeah AMACO beat MACO. Increases your damage output and the 2pc heal is more valuable than MACOs shield recharge. If you are using the TR-116B you don't need the integral frequency remodulator of the Borg sets, so you could have a look at the Dyson ground set for good damage resistance.

I love the weapon also. I also think it should be banned in PVP. It sucks all the fun right out of it.

I find it hilariously amazing that Cryptic failed to realize what the implications were for 100% shield penetration in that mode of play. They truly have no idea what they were doing.

Getting a TR-116 single-handedly convinced me to change my entire gear. It completely replaced my MACO rifle, and it is now my favourite weapon.
I completed a 2-man CSE, ISE, and KASE, Optionals included. And I soloed Winter Invasion.

It's ugly as sin (but then again, I have the same opinion of most endgame weapons, especially Starfleet and KDF stuff), but yeah, it also appears to be the best weapon in the game against anything that has a shield or is a Borg drone.

Infinite possibilities have implications that could not be completely understood if you turned this entire universe into a giant supercomputer.p3OEBPD6HU3QI.jpg

I've loved the TR-116b, since the first time I used it.

My main character is a Tac, equipped with the Adapted M.A.C.O. set. I have the UR TR-116b, as my primary, with the Adapted M.A.C.O. Phaser Pulsewave Rifle, as my secondary. These 2 together I feel prepared for pretty much anything.

The tr-116b may be good against single shielded opponent's, but the CC bio-molecular disruptor rifle tears groups a new butt, and is far quicker than the tr-116b any day.

A team (4-5 people) full of these things will literally make Borg in IGE, CGE and KAGE (soon to be IGA, CGA and KAGA I suppose) melt in front of you.

It will be interesting to see how effective they are should the Borg get upgraded hit points on the ground in Advanced mode.
    Hey I just vaped you, and this is crazy;
But here's my frequency, so hail me maybe?
