Hi everyone, So I restarted with a new klingon character in the klingon faction and I am now at commander level 20. However I have not received any new ship tokens while leveling up the whole time. I am still flying the same bird of prey I received when starting. So what happened? How come I didn't get any new ship tokens? How do I report this problem? I submitted some bug notices but I'm not sure if I submitted under the right category, etc or if that is the right way to go about this. Also what is the usual response time? Any advice on how to resolve this issue would be appreciated. Thanks!
Thanks! I can't remember the name of the last mission i completed but it was the one where M'Ven dies by assassination from the Romulans and the house of Torg (worf and his son are there too). Anyone know if any new ship should have been rewarded by that point or before? Thanks a lot!

Think its just a little way further on for you.
Damn my aged memory.
But don't worry, this issue comes up everytime there's an XP event.
You'll be getting your new KDF ships soon enough, just keep on with the missions.
If I remember right, I didn't get the ship mission from a pop up mission. I got it from the available llist. Hail those and it will tell you which one you get the ship from.

sounds like you're in the vigilance arc. house on fire is a level 18 mission so you're not too far away. i think you need to go through alphas and then temporal ambassador, those are 18-20 level missions.

Now you made me go to STO wiki.
The mission OP has just completed in Bringing Down the House.
Next is House Always Wins.
After that is Test of Mettle, which brings the new ship.

those are level 9-10 missions. the best thing the op can do is play through test of metal to get his 10 ship then skip all the missions through temporal ambassador and get his new level 20 ship. then just go back and replay all the skipped missions. double xp strikes again.

Heh, I've been lvl50 for a couple years now, and since coming back I'm always reminded on login to 'talk to the battlemasters' and play test of mettle and get that ship token.

If you ever have ten minutes to spare, its a fun little space battle.
Yep. For the KDF and Romulan toons your 1st ship upgrade is tied to a mission.
As mentioned, for the KDF you must start 'Test of Mettle'; I believe it is the 15th main story mission which includes the tutorial missions.
For the Romulan faction I believe you must start the mission called 'Neutral No More' which should take place right after 'Turning Point' where you have to decide between the Federation and KDF. I think 'Neutral No More' is the 12th main story mission including the tutorials.
So, am I correct that there is no work-around to this as a Romulan? I've got like four or five story missions to go before I can get my level 10 ship and it's already taking forever to kill these stupid Tal Shiar with my dinky starter ship. What a pain, I wish the Double XP was optional.

Yah you will want to do all the early story quests at least up until you choose your allegiance which is normally a level 10 quest.
And making double XP optional isnt the fix. They should make ALL free ship tokens tied to character level instead of tied to an episode. That way no matter how fast or how slow you go through the storyline no matter what episodes you skip when you hit level 10-20-30-40 you get a free ship token. Originally the KDF used to have all of its ships tied to character level i believe. But then they did the story revamp and they decided to make the level 10 ship token tied to a mission.
I don't understand the problem, the starting missions for Romulans are quick and reward a lot of XP. Not one of them is difficult or tedious. And getting your new ship coincides with having to choose your allegiance, which is nice, because at that oint you can access a lot of faction-specific content, like consoles from c-store ships etc....

Yah but it gives new players a bad impression of game difficulty.
As a Romulan you have two "hard" opponents that you see with the double xp event. The first one is a Tholian Recluse which you see at level 17 with normal XP you fight him at level 8. The next one is Hakeev in his D'D cruiser who you normally see at level 9 but instead you fight him at level 18-19. Both of those you will fight in a T'liss or Tvaro retro. A veteran player might know about the exchange on the flotilla and they might be able to retrain to better ensign boff abilities for tac/sci/eng. But a new player might end up sticking with the boffs that they came with up to that point as well as their default abilities.
Prior to the double xp event i had leveled up at least 10-12 romulans 6 of them made it to level cap for each allegiance and a bunch more that i made and deleted just cause i was bored. So i know the starter area pretty well and despite my screen name on here i'm actually not a newb, nub or noob.
The first time i fought the recluse at level 17 i got too close and he let out a TRIBBLE cloud or some sort of aoe radiation that very quickly killed me. And i dont mean very quickly as in it took him 30 seconds to kill me and i have no concept of the passage of time. I mean the dot ticks killed me from full to dead in under 3-4 seconds. The other one was my first time against Hakeev. You approach the last anomaly, scan it and he spawns but is neutral. After you talk to him he becomes hostile and attacks you. Level 19 Hakeev opened up with a beam overload which ate right through my T'liss's shield facing and brought up hull down to about 40-50% and at the same time he shoot that beam overload he sent out a torp spread which hit me shortly after my shield facing went down. I was dead in probably 2-3 seconds. And when i mean 2-3 second i *do* mean 2-3 seconds. Not like when your wife says she will be ready in 15 minutes and 3 hours later she is ready. I mean 2-3 seconds as in one-two-three seconds.
I leveled 1-2 more romulans after that but this time on Hakeev as soon as he went active i knew to immediately go on the defense because i knew that he would open up with a BO and torpedoes again.
I leveled a few new toons during the xp event and a few on the last one. Best advance I can give is power though them its really fast and easy on the romulan side. After you pick your side and can go down to romulan command. Go look for the guy you talk to that levels you up normally even if you dont have the mission to talk to him. Hes by himself in one of the offices. Chances are hell have a talk option over his head. Take that and then beam back to your ship. Turn it in on your ship like a normal mission and just keep doing that till youre where you should be.
As for the Klingon side its just as easy. Only it takes longer because the missions themselves are so much longer, lots of hallways you have to run though then run back though.
Dont worry about being out of level with stuff you level so quick it doesnt really matter. Plus the stuff you have to fight is rather easy to kill anyway. Just fix what you can when you run passed a vendor or trainer gear and boff wise. When you hit max level you can toss what you dont want out and build a proper toon and crew.
And making double XP optional isnt the fix. They should make ALL free ship tokens tied to character level instead of tied to an episode.
This. Because everytime the xp event is on, we struggle until level 20+ until we can get a new ship. This will not be so bad only because i use to play on advanced difficulty since the beginning, and with the double xp event, the enemies are really harder (in STO, the enemies escalates their strenght at your level) and some klingon missions are almost an odissey to finish or they are just incredible long. But playing as a romulan is more of the same. Cryptic should just do things right and make some adjustements when the xp event is on. But unfortunately they dont have the time or the efforts needed to do that since ages ago.
I just got to level 10 Federation and was told I would get a new ship. I went to the ship acquisitions and did not see any free ships or a ship token in my inventory. This forum won't let me create a new thread only comment.
forum necromancy past 30 days is a no no on STO forums. Are you on consoles? I think I've seen threads where other players on console are experiencing that bug.
...I submitted some bug notices but I'm not sure if I submitted under the right category, etc or if that is the right way to go about this. Also what is the usual response time? Any advice on how to resolve this issue would be appreciated. Thanks!
In-game support is a myth. You have a greater chance of seeing Bigfoot than getting a non-canned reply to an in-game support ticket.

IMO - these days in game support is about as real as Bigfoot too.

The problem is, the KDF level ship is gained from a specific mission, rather than hitting the appropriate level.
During XP events, KDF toons can hit level 20 a lot sooner than the mission structure is based on.
Do the story missions and, i forget which mission, one of them gets you your new ship.
Think its just a little way further on for you.

They haven't got the level 10 ship yet.
They need to do Test of Mettle.
