So I started playing the klingon faction with an Orion character. After about a month of on/off gameplay I'm a captain now in the KDF. It's been fun but I realized I should have chosen a Klingon character instead. I would prefer not to start alll over again from scratch. Is there anyway to change the character species without starting over from scratch again? Even if the changes are just cosmetic I am fine with that.
Not at the moment. Neverwinter has just recently allowed race rerolls and it is based off the same engine that STO uses so it might be possible in the future, but it will probably be years before you can. The easiest solution is to just reroll a new character.
I remember the days when rerolling a character to another species was as simple as just leveling it up again and rebuying the gear. Now, the leveling part is cake, but from the moment you hit 50, we are only 10% of the way there.
STO is increasingly becoming a game that 'punishes' you for wanting more characters. Lockbox ships being accountwide would be a fantastic start.
No. The four things about a character you can't change - profession, species, gender, and faction.
If you do want to start over though - if you have account bank unlocked, anything 'bound to account' and your money can be transferred. And of course unbound items can be mailed. (This assumes you create the new character before deleting the old one.)
you should still be able to account bank and mail it before creating a new character, for mail just use the handle address eg. @fredbloggs or in the OP`s case @siron1982 without a character name.
once you have created your new toon and get to a bank and mailing station you stuff should be there.
having said that it is probably best to use the safe option and create the new character first if you have a free space.
you can also transfer dilithium with the dilithium exchange list as much as you can for sale at the lowest possible price then click cancel, don't draw it yet.
when your new character is up and running and you can access the exchange your dilithium should be waiting there for you to draw.
When I think about everything we've been through together,
maybe it's not the destination that matters, maybe it's the journey,
and if that journey takes a little longer,
so we can do something we all believe in,
I can't think of any place I'd rather be or any people I'd rather be with.
