Y... Maybe it is my isp, but as I SAID, i dont have any problems with other mmorpgs. ITs curious this only happens playing STO..

Without any Network Diagnostic information, its hard to say whats causing your problem... And you're the only person who can produce them to diagnose your problem...

    Throw in my two pence.

I have had more than usual lag too and disconnects. flying around and you appear to skip backwards than forwards, UI lag more than usualy while trying to click on powers.

I have also have the entire screen freeze for a few seconds as well.

Now my latest problem is my ship while fighting, just doesnt respond. You try to move the ship, and it stays still, you see buffs appear, but it really does nothing. Then the respawn button wont respawn and I have to /quit.

Please, please bug test this TRIBBLE instead of throwing money at voice actors.

You wrong. A lot of players are suffering these symptomps, its just they dont post on the forums. Its probably they consider this normal. Ok, im not talking about really critical issues, just a little rubberbanding here and there, but enough to break all the immersion in the game. I dunno how to explain, since a couple of weeks ago, its just i feel the game is even less stable than before. I dont think its my system (i didnt touch anything since months ago). Maybe it is my isp, but as I SAID, i dont have any problems with other mmorpgs. ITs curious this only happens playing STO..

This sums it up nicely. I have two DSL lines in my house. One for work, one for home. I get the same problem on both connections. There is clearly a problem with the game. I just hope they have plans in place to add more capacity for 14/10.
If you've come to the forums to complain about the AFK system, it's known to be bugged at the moment.

There are 2 of us in this house playing STO, usually at the same time. Frequently DH's connection will be stable while mine is full of rubberbanding and latency; sometimes (although less frequently) it's the opposite. Often on map transitions, I will be kicked from the game. Since we both use the same cable connection, I don't think it's that; I'm inclined to think it's whichever server has our individual characters.

Will try to run tracert and other tests later, and post the results. Right now, however, I'm hearing the same thing from many of our fleeties across the western hemisphere -- the STO connection is full of lag.
"Susse-thrai" had been the name bestowed upon her, half in anger, half in affection, by her old crew on Bloodwing; the keen-nosed, cranky, wily old she-beast, never less dangerous than when you thought her defenseless, and always growing new teeth far back in her throat to replace the old ones broken in biting out the last foe's heart.

Here we go again. Europe evening. Disconnected and timing out. ALL OTHER GAMES work fine.

But "its my problem" "cryptic servers are working fine" "majority of players don't have problems""its best expansion ever and players love it"

So, did you wait 325 seconds for 'Path Ping' to finish???

'Trace Route' shows excellent network latency values, so its not a network latency problem...

'Net Test' measured throughput values are not as consistent as they should be. (Values should only vary by a few dozen KB/Sec) and hints at a possible connection quality issue...

Now if we only had a complete 'Path Ping' result to look at...

Hard to say whats going on here... Either hop #7 isn't sending out to #8 correctly, or hop #8 isn't receiving correctly... Or it could be a false positive, as the #8 may be configured not to support the protocol that 'Path Ping' uses. Though if this was the case, you would normally see ALL THE NODES be configured for the same behavior...

So you could contact Comcast Technical support, and ask them about issues with their Gateway to the Cogent Backbone. You could also try using the US Proxy setting in the Options Menu of the Launcher, and see if that routes you around this possible network congestion issue...

I'm wondering, when Cryptic will Fix this latency problem. After I've tried, checked and tested everything without any success, I'm sure its their Fault. My connection is fine, my PC is fine. I can play any other game without problems, but cryptic games.

I've hadn't had any problems playing STO, so its unlikely that Cryptic has anything that needs to be fixed... If it was a Server problem, wouldn't you expect EVERYONE to have the same problems, and this simply isn't the case here... Your PC is fine and your connection to your ISP may be fine, but is your ISP connection to STO Servers fine? as this is something you haven't checked yet...

the cryptic servers ARE fine most of the time.
Sitting here in the USA, with a 4+ MB/sec fiber connection, I have no lag. The majority of the players have no lag. It *is* a remote ISP problem. The only times I have lag are when cryptic has ongoing issues which generally means a topic w/ apology in the forums and updates as they try to resolve it.

I mean, there are server problems now and then, but not constantly. Since the last patch, for example (winter event) the exchange has had a large delay before searches complete or buying/selling an item is processed. But actual combat/game content is stable for most players.

I have played a few games where the server was overseas. Guess what happened? Lag. Too many hops across too many unknowns to pinpoint it -- but the bottom line is that crossing an ocean has a good chance of adding lag to your games because the infrastructure is simply not reliable enough to support 100% lag free gigabit connections for millions of people.

    explain?
the 192 number at the top is YOU and your router.
that moves to presumably your ISP, airtel?? or something?? At #4
it then travels a path through various servers and routers and such to get to where it is going, which is at the bottom, cryptic's server (at least the externally visible portion of it).

the numbers with MS on them are the times, or the lag. When it reaches 300+ for a packet, that is "bad". At 500, you are talking 1/2 second. Probably, this is a round-trip value, but 1/2 a second is significant lag.

    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc958876.aspx gives the details.

Be aware that some systems refuse to answer pings. If "pathping" is sending actual pings, that could be an issue --- professional systems do not accept pings because they can be attacked with them. I am not a network guru, so I am not sure what the status on servers, pings, DOS attacks, etc is right now. The last time I paid attention to it, servers were hidden and a proxy server answered the pings. If the proxy got flooded, no harm done.

In my humble opinion, I don't think it is Cryptic's servers that are the issue.

From my experience, and looking at other people test results (apart from the peep at 500 ms as soon as he jumps off his router), summat happens when our route hits Cogent.

Also, it always kicks in at the same time: almost like our intercontinental bandwidth gets throttled when internal use goes up.

The issue is, it's not like I can ring Cogent and go "WTF dude, sort your **** out: I have massive lag in Start Trek online every time at 7pm CET!"

Gee, this looks like a satellite link is involved here... In addition to packets being lost all along the connection route, the backbone connection out of India is suffering from high network latency. 180 ms is the Cryptic recommended upper limit for network latency. Your connection leaps from 25 ms to 271 ms, which indicates a backbone infrastructure issue... The only thing you can really do is to contact your ISP, and see if they are aware of the problem...

Hello all this my sound really strange but i found a fix online that worked and fixed all my lag and sound problems.

Start, Programs\Accessories and right click on Command Prompt, select "Run as Administrator" to open a command prompt.

Reset WINSOCK entries to installation defaults: netsh winsock reset catalog

Reset IPv4 TCP/IP stack to installation defaults. netsh int ipv4 reset reset.log

Reset IPv6 TCP/IP stack to installation defaults. netsh int ipv6 reset reset.log

    Hope it helps :)
