Greetings Everyone

So I am a returner to STO and I am having a couple of issues that I cannot find an answers to and thus I have come to you experienced players for aid. :)

1. So I am playing on a F2P account and I have recently reached level 50 (Vice Admiral) and usually when you reach the next level you get a new ship. Well it said I would at this rank but I did not. So what's the deal?

2. When I reached the level where you could upgrade to ships such as the Sovereign Class I noted that I had a new officer slot but each time I try to place a new officer there it tells me that they are assigned to a different ship and there is no room. How do I fix this?

3. I am doing the Dyson Sphere quests but for some reason I am always in my shuttle craft when doing these episodes, is there a reason for this? Do I have to unlock something? or is this a bug.

Thanks much guys! Any help is very much appreciated. :)

    Firstly, welcome back!

    1. Free ships are only at levels 10, 20, 30 and 40. There's no free ship at level 50. However, your level 40 ship is perfectly serviceable for endgame. EDIT: in the "Rewards" window (top-left of the in-game HUD) it says "permission to buy next rank of ships" which means "c-store or fleet" rather than "new ship" which means "Free ship".

    2. I'm not sure what you mean by this - bridge officers are assigned to your toon as their captain, not to ships. You should be able to swap bridge officers around as much as you like (heck, I swap boffs mid-mission as required). Are you able to take a screenshot of this? Remember, you need free officer slots to add more officers (No Officer), and then the boff slot in the ship (think of it as a seat at a station) must be able to take that career boff. If it's a bug, try 'unseating' all the old ship's boff seats, and then 'reseating' them in the new ship.

    3. I suggest you go to the shipyard and make sure you have both a capital ship, and a shuttle 'selected'. Then make sure down the bottom right that the pip is "Active Ship" on the capital ship. If that doesn't work, IIRC Dyson is one of those maps where you can change from shuttle to capital ship in the map itself, by going to your Status window, and clicking "Switch Starship" to swap into your starship (it's sort of 'brute force' but if needs must).

    Hope this helps!

    1. Only lifers receive (not sure how many days on the normal subscription) a ship at lvl 50. All level 50 ships are on the c-store or through the fleet system. The free ship at 40 you got is at the same level as the ships in the cstore, save 3 pack ships.

    2. As a free to play member, you have bare minimum boff (or brodge officer) slots. Either buy more slots in the cstore or dismiss an unused boff to add one from your roster.

    3. Either you simply need to set your starship to active through a ship selection officer or switch ship in sector space. I persoanlly havent had any issues myself on the sphere, though that is not to say it isnt a bug.

In any case, welcome back to STO, you're just in for some major changes to the PvE system in the form of Delta Rising (affectionately referred to as dilithium rising)

1 The one you got at 40 is your last free one (but its good enough to do most of the endgame content; people underrate these things). However, there are a lot of Mirror Universe ships on the Exchange for dirt cheap. There is also the Winter Event about 6 weeks off, where you run laps on an icy track once a day, and after 25 days can pick out from a couple of nice Breen ships. Otherwise, you need to either get out your wallet or grind a lot of dil.

    2 Never encountered this before.

3 See #2. Did you accidentally switch to your shuttle by mistake? None of the Dyson quests use your shuttle.

    1. Since we're close to Dec, you could potentially get access to 3 T5U ships this December during the Winter event, but you'll have to farm 1000 Q autographs on 3 toons for the 3 different ships so that your main one can get the two ships from the last to years at a discount plus this year's ship.

    Hey guys,

Sorry to hijack this thread. I'm new and I can't post a new thread.

I'm pretty new at the game. I bought a Borg bridge officer but had no idea it was in my inventory. I couldn't find her. But today I was playing around and I opened the box and it's the borg officer I bought. But I had no room so the options were "Train Up" and "Not now". So I chose "Not now" because I was going to sell/discharge one of my other officers and then put her in that place. But now she doesn't even show up anywhere? Did I lose the officer? Seems like I just wasted my money for nothing. That's a pretty terrible interaction and it makes it really easy to lose something you paid for.

    It does, thanks man. :)

Ah, ok. Thanks man, good to know. :)

I think that's the issue. I'll have to buy a new slot. :) Thanks man, appreciate the info. :)

    Thanks all!

Technically no - you have not lost the officer unless you dismiss them (typing in their name is part of that process).

If you have no space for the officer, they end up on the STATIONS tab in the game. Extras can be stored here indefinitely (although I believe there is a limit to the number).

    Click U.
    Open the Stations tab.

Bridge officer candidates appear on the right hand side.

    -Hit U
-At the top of the new window that comes up hit STATIONS

On the left you should see your captains name, your currently equipped ship, and your shuttle (if you have one). Then after your shuttles name you will have all your active bridge officers. Do you see any slots that say [no officer] on the left side? you mentioned that your only options were train up and not now. If you had room on the active boff list a third option "join up" should have been there.

If the boff isnt back in your inventory then check 1 other place. Still looking at the same window mentioned in the previous paragraph. In the middle of the window will be your ship boff slots, your shuttle boff slots, and then your away team members. On the right side of the window you will see our Bridge Officer Candidates. How many boffs do you have on the candidate list, and do you see your Borg Bridge Officer there? you can hover over each name to see their info.

Thanks. I tried that, but it says "There are currently no Bridge Officer candidates". :( Do I talk to their customer support or something?

Ok - first make sure the officer isn't available in the Z store (claim again), or in the dilithium store (reclaim). Not sure about the reclaim function for the officer....

Double check it's not in your overflow bag, bank and current inventory.

    Then send in the ticket.

    Hope that helps

    It's gotta be a bug.

You can slot up to 5 Boffs on the Sovereign. As a F2P player, I believe you should available 8 slots for Boffs of which 5 of them can be slotted to the bridge stations. The remaining 3 would be inactive reserves.

I encountered a bug while leveling up my Fed toon where I would not slot more than 3 Boffs even though the bridge had more than 3 Boff stations. The issue resolved itself when I finally reached level 40 at which point I was able to slot the 4th and 5th Boff at a bridge station.

I recommend you create a support ticket. Purchasing Boff slots merely increases the total number of Boffs your toon can have. It does not affect the number of Boff stations available on the bridge. As stated, you should have by default more available Boff slots than actual Boff stations on the bridge.

The Sovereign is a great free T5 starship, I use it for end game content.

This is good advice. Also every year cryptic has at least one giveaway event where everyone gets free costumes and ships. They gave out the nebula science ship, marauder flight deck cruiser and more in the past couple events.

Summer also has a ship you can get for free, currently a choice between a corvette/escort and a luxury cruiser.

The anniversary event traditionally also gives out a free ship, this s year they made it harder to get, but the previous two you just had to run a single mission one time.

For the winter, since it is coming up very soon, I'll recommend the cruiser (chel grett) over the raider (plesh brek) if you can only get one. I have and fly both of them and they are enjoyable ships. If you watch deep space 9, you'll recognize them from the dominion war as they are breen ships.

Someone else also mentioned the mirror universe ships you can buy on the auction house. They are very nice.

If it's not in the Candidate list in the UI, it could be in your inventory, possibly the overflow bag if that is full.
