Which Space Set for a Carrier?

I'm planning to give a KDF Engineer the Mirror Vo'Quv with B'Rel/B'Rolth hangers as their 'endgame' ship. My general rule of thumb for carriers is Combat Engines since they allow me to lower engine power and put more into Auxilary (hanger pets). But most of the Space Sets already come with variants of Combat Engines, and I'm flexible on the weapons still...

So I was wondering, of the different Space sets available to the KDF, which set's bonuses provide the greater benefit for a carrier?

^Words that every player should keep in mind, especially whenever there's a problem with the game...

There's no one best space set for a carrier, even specifically for the Vo'Quv you're wanting to make. It completely depends on what kind of skills you want to load up and how you're going to play it.

Also, keep your mind open on engine types. Because the advantage of using Combat Impulse Engines these days is nothing anymore. The reason is that there are a lot of ways to have good subsystem power, that for the Combat Impulse Engines to truly have an effect, you have to be absolutely determined to have low Engine Power. That's actually tricky to do these days.

like warmaker said depends on allot but consider one of the older honor guard sets the mask energy signature the set gives can also hide your pets till they start shooting. and those slow moving target able projectiles as well. since they wont break the mask until target is hit.

TBH a good, all around set to go for for any carrier, or any general purpose ship that doesn't have a specific theme ( aka drain boat. ) is..

    Assimilated Deflector.
    Assimilated Engine.
Elite Fleet Warp Core ( if A2B get shield and engine. If not a2b then get Shield and Aux. )
    Elite Fleet Resilient ResB Shields

This will give you a very nice passive hull regen from 2 peice borg, very good shields and a decent core.

Eltie fleet warp core and shields are cheaper than they were. Like 14k Fleet Creds and 10k dilithium. For how good they are, thats a steal!

It's a hyper, but I might go with the Counter Command Engines/Core.
You get straight boosts to Inertia and Defense from the engine.
You get boosted engine power, an engine capacitor, and it puts some engine power to weapons.
From having the 2 piece combo, you get an extra defense boost.

From there, I might go with assimilated mostly for the regen, or dyson for shield, or nukara for weapon boost, or Aegis because I like the shield.

The Mirror Vo'quv isn't upgradeable, so why even bother making one now?

because some people do things for fun.

on topic I would use the Solanae set as a starter I use it on mine because it was free and works fairly well.

if I stop posting it doesn't make you right it. just means I don't have enough rum to continue interacting with you.

Apparently your definition of 'fun' is wasting time and effort.

Apparently your definition of 'fun' is wasting time and effort.

You can fly a ship you enjoy, or fly one because you're compelled to, despite never really liking it to begin with.

    Is that "fun?"

If a guy considers it fun to effectively fly his freebie Lv40 ship at endgame still, is that "fun" for him?

If a guy flies flies a ship because, statistically and everything else points that "you should be flying this," despite not really feeling that way, is that fun for him?

If a guy still flies his Bird of Prey effectively in PVP these days, despite the entire game pointing out how obsolete BOPs are, and that he should be flying X, Y, or Z ships, is it fun for him?

If a guy is still flying his Fleet Defiant despite the ship being absolutely and totally left behind by all kinds of faction and non-faction Escorts, enjoys it... is it fun for him?

I find for my style of play (Tank/Heal) The honor guard set. Minus the deflector Since I find that positrons with bonus shield cap go well with it. Plus the set bonuses wont help you much if you run a beam boat.
