Wasn't aware
this had been released to us yet, but it obviously has. I'd say I'm a little concerned.
1) Why would people waste their resources now on upgrading to Mk XII, and then again to Mk XIV when Delta Rising launches, when we can all wait until Delta Rising and go straight from Mk XII to XIV - I'm assuming here that we can jump up two, and that we don't have to go through each level or equipment, so feel free to correct me here, somebody.
2) Unless I'm mistaken, we were told (were we not?) that the crafting system isn't needed to fully utilize the gaming experience, and all that goes with it. If this isn't the case, then in order to upgrade to Mk XIV everyone is going to need to use the crafting system, and upgrade system themselves, right? Otherwise, how are people who don't want to craft/upgrade suppose to get the high ranking equipment?
3) Tier #5U & #6 Starships - is it right (from what I've been able to figure out) that T5U ships will get an extra console slot (thus, 11 consoles) and that T6 ships will get an additional Boff Power/Slot (yet still, only 10 consoles?) Are there Tier #6 Fleet Ships? What's happening with the current Lock Box/Lobi Ships - are they getting a T6 upgrade, or only the T5U level? Are all newer ships (Lock Box/C-Store/Lobi/Event) going to be T5 (upgradable) or T6?
I think that's the more important questions...
There's a chance I'm missing valuable information here, don't hold that against me, please. There's so much to take on board with this new expansion, it's seemingly a little hard to keep up.
Comments
1) no, you cant jump mk
2)no, just buy the upgrade kits on the exchange
3)lockbox/event/lobi are T-5U
2) what were were told is that you don't need 13/14 gear. you can play the game on regular mode with existing t5 ships using existing 11/12 equipment. while doing that you'll get some 13 loot dropping on you. if you play at that level you'll never need to craft.
3) t5u can have an 11th console if you upgraded a fleet-level ship that had 10 consoles. if you upgraded a ship that only had 9 consoles then you only end up with 10.
t6 ships have 10 consoles but 13 boff slots. t6 fleet ships will come at some point, but we don't know how they'll be designed. they might have more consoles, or more boffs, or more specalist seats. we have no idea yet.
lockbox and lobi ships get a free upgrade to t5u.
we don't know what the tier of the new lockbox and lobi ships will be. we'll find out when they annouce the new lockbox in a couple of weeks.
There is absolutely no point in releasing any more Tier 5 ships unless they are refits like a Star Cruiser Refit since there is far too many Tier 5 ships and not enough Tier 6 ships. Lockbox and Lobi Store ships lose their appeal if they are not some of the best ships available. It would be like getting a Tier 4 Lockbox ship when Tier 5 was the highest. It might look nice, but certainly not worth the money to get it. Therefore, any new Lockbox, Lobi Store, mission reward, or grind ship will be Tier 6, but most won't have the Intelligence Bridge Officer slot.
I expect the first Tier 6 ship with 11 consoles will be released when Delta Rising goes live as new Lockbox and Lobi Store ships and the first "free" Tier 6 ship will likely be the next Winter Event ship since it is doubtful that there will be a free mission reward Tier 6 ship introduced when Delta Rising goes live.
Whilst I can both understand and appreciate Cryptic not updating every ship they've got, I don't understand why they can't promote Lock Box and Lobi Ships (and event ships like the Breen and Risian) to Tier #6 status.
Because they would have to figure out 20 different starship mastery traits for each Lockbox and Lobi Store ship. Each of the known Tier 6 ships have different starship mastery traits.
I can't see these mastery traits making that much of a difference to gameplay; why not just release all lock box, lobi, and events ships with something different. It'll further give them a boost (compared to T5U) though wont be attached to the whole mastery system.
some of them make a huge difference to game play.
Oh?
