I happened to get a Narcine Dreadnought last night and I can't decide which character should I fly it on? My main is an Engineer and I can see the potential in this ship on a n engineer but I also know this ship is usually flown on a Tactical. I decided that maybe I should take them over to Tribble and try it out there, here are the resulting runs:

So if you mostly pewpew with your guns the tactical captain is a better choice. If you do enough damage now but need some survivability and want your science and engineering powers to do more, then the engineer will be better.
In Space, engineers are obsolete.
Rota shield freq? Pointless with all the shield bypass. Miracle worker? A lame heal on a too long cooldown...
Nadion? yeah no.
Tactical offers way to much synergy, there are very very few things in the game that do not benefit from attack pattern alpha and tac fleet.
Damage consoles, damage rep powers, damage set powers all get a massive boost from APA, engineers cannot provide this.
Properly gearing your ship will make it survivable enough and for the narcione especially:
Once both APA and the resonance console are off cooldown, recall your frigate pet. one docked, go to the thing you wanna see die horribly. Fly close to it, buff up, release pets, activate console. Watch things DIE.
Do not spend effort on space Engineer captains...
actually my main engineer toon does more dps thanmy tactical toon in his Fleet Excelsior (granted i work on this toon the most) but its always fun to do decent dps but always be able to heal yourself which also means you dont have to hope your team knows how to heal others:P
I completely disagree. A well built Narcine with an engineer is a potent force. By using EPS Manifold effiency you can really boost all of your power levels, particularly your Aux, meaning your abilities can keep your resists nice and high, negating shield bleed-through. Your Rotate Shield Frequency and Miracle Worker can keep you going whilst dishing out heals to your team and your pets and Tactical abilities can help you maintain high damage.
You're never going to be a kill machine like an escort in a Narcine, nor should you try to be one.
