This past Sunday my dad passed away peacefully at home. I mention this here because it is because of him that my brother, another STO player (arcanum70) and I play this game. He is the one who first introduced us to not just Star Trek, but sci-fi in general. I can remember when we were little sitting with dad on a Sunday afternoon watching a sci-fi or cheesy monster movie. To this day I still have a great love of giant monster movies. And there was always Star Trek. He introduced us to the original series, which we would all watch any chance we got. He was right there with us geeking out the first time the Enterprise D separated , and the first time the D'Deridex warbird decloaked. He was watching with us when Sisko took command of Deep Space 9, and when Captain Janeway and crew were flung into the Delta Quadrant. Not to mention the movies. We had constant good-natured arguments about who was better, Kirk or Picard. He always called Picard a "pussycat" and always said Kirk could mop the floor with him.
We didn't always agree on a lot of things, but our love of Star Trek and sci-fi is one of the things we all shared, and my brother and I have always thanked dad for that. Now, dad, go share some Romulan ale with Kirk, we will handle the ship from here. It has been an honor and a privilege serving with you, sir. Thank you for everything.
Safe journey dad. Hailing frequencies closed.
I don't care what the header says, I am not now, nor have I ever been, nor will I ever be, an "ARC user".

Never easy to lose someone that close. My prayers are with you all.

...talking to players is like being a mall Santa. Everyone immediately wants to tell you all of the things they want, and you are absolutely powerless to deliver 99% of them.
I'm sorry to hear that, you have my sympathies.
My dad wasn't a devoted Trekkie, but he introduced me to it. I lost him a few years ago. Still think about him every day.
RIP oldschooldork's dad. Hopefully he's watching Trek in the appropriate positively-regarded afterlife. Or being reincarnated into a suitably high-quality body, if he believed in that.
It's sounds a little contrite to say I'm sorry for your loss when I don't even know you but I really am sorry for your loss because I know you are hurting right now and I can feel the pain in your post. I lost both of my parents within months of each other and I thought the pain would never go away. I won't say it will get better as time goes by because there is a whole in your heart that can only be filled by your dad, but it will make you stronger as you press on.
May all of the BEST memories continue to keep your father ever alive within you! Many blessings and well-wishes to you and yours as you deal with this loss...
That's quite the paradox, how could you nerf nerf when the nerf is nerfed. But how would the nerf be nerfed when the nerf is nerfed? This allows the nerf not to be nerfed since the nerf is nerfed? But if the nerf isn't nerfed, it could still nerf nerfs. But as soon as the nerf is nerfed, the nerf power is lost. So paradoxally it the nerf nerf lost its nerf, while it's still nerfed, which cannot be because the nerf was unable to nerf.

Hang onto all those wonderful memories of you together watching Trek.
He'll always be with you, everytime you think of him.
