Changing uniforms of non-bridge officer crew

I had a bit of a look around on the forum and couldn't find this, so I'm posting it... :)

I'm a little bit annoyed walking around the inside of my ship because of UNIFORM CONFLICT. I've got myself and my bridge officers decked out in, say, TNG-era uniforms, but the rest of the crew is still in... well, whatever the default stuff is. Doesn't look good!

It would be nice if we'd have customisation options for the crew uniforms too. It could be some simple single one with some colour designated as the service branch colour, or then you could have one uniform for science, one for engineering and one for tactical, whatever.

Just a thought. :)

I would love to see this too, they should make them based off your bridge officers cause I'm sure everyone has at least 1 of each type, at least every ship I've seen has at least 1-3 stations for every type.

    What is the default ?
we could match bridge crew to it as a worst case answer

You're right, we don't even need new options for tac, eng, sci male/female ship crew at the tailor - they just need to base the crew appearance on the department heads! EDIT: Oh wait, we'd still need male/female options. So the tailor getting the 6 new options is still what we really need.

On the other hand Cryptic IMO has still to even acknowledge this widespread wish, so I don't hold my breath for it to happen anytime soon.

It was suggested on another thread that a simpler option would be for Cryptic to set up a selector for your crew. So you could pick the default costumes from ENT, TOS, TNG... etc.

That would be a simple solution... and thus more likely to get done even if it wouldn't be quite as fun as setting uniforms for your crew.

The default is the Sierre and Antares uniforms.

I like sticking with a mix of the TNG (late) era uniform mixed with some of the Jupiter items.

Been asked for a long time - since the initial inclusion of bridges/interiors back in what? Season 2, I think?

I really love the Terran Empire uniforms from TOS. I just joined STO this week and had to buy the uniforms. The default uniforms are ok but for me. I need TOS Mirror universe. :) I wish i could have all my background characters and security personnel in TOS and or TOS Mirror Universe. Just have to wait and see i guess.

I agree. You should at least be able to buy the same uniform for crewmen on the c-store!

Why the hell should it be a c-store purchase? I've already bought the costumes, I sure as heck won't pay double to outfit the ship crew in addition to my toon and my BOFFs with it.

Edit: I'd be ok with a single, accountwide c-store unlock to be able to change what my ship crew is wearing. But this feature better let's me access every costume I've already bought, then.

Just like people can make 'Fleet Uniforms' at the tailor, there should be a way to make 'crew uniforms' as well. Once you make the three different crew uniforms (one for each department, although I'd actually say there should be four, to include medical), then those uniforms are used on all your crew. It'd be even better to have 6 slots to differentiate male/female crewpersons (for those wanting to do TOS style for instance). But, I'd be happy just being able to set my crew with uniforms *I* want them to wear.

I've been saying that since launch. I was gone for a while and thought this would have been put in by now.

Using Fraps, I took a picture of me standing on the bridge, another of the ship, and one of my first officer in the costume editing menu. Then using Gimp I cut the 1st officer out of the picture and pasted him standing next to me, then scaling him and shading him so that he looks like he is actually on the bridge. I then took the picture of the ship and spliced it with the other picture to create one picture; I then added the text. Finally I scaled the image so it wasn't too large.

I would like to see something that changes the default uniforms. Even just a console in the ready room that switches the crew to match the department heads like mentioned before... that said my head of security is a Gorn so my first wish is to have Starfleet uniforms for KDF officers that have transffered to Starfleet via the diplomatic core :p lol

My current uniform is an update of the cadet uniform with the new TNG/DS9 trousers and alt future badge (see sig below).

Edit: that said I also use the TNG/DS9 department colour schemes, eg mustard/yellow for ops and security and the dark turquoise for Med

I am using terran empire for all my bridge crew but i remember that Sulu in both universes is tactical as well as helmsman. He wears gold in TOS which is command or tactical i this game. But in the mirror universe he wears red he is tactical and still helmsman but also apparently cheif of security. So if anyone here plays with TOS and or terran empire TOS do you have your bridge officers in red as tactical or gold? Since we cant change all the security or ship npc's to your bridge uniforms i no longer use security on away missions.just my bridge officers.

Not absolutely certain that I want all of my female officers wearing Seven of Nine style catsuits!

I personally go with how the game has it: red = tactical, yellow = engineer, and blue = science; I also use the greenish blue color from TNG for my medical officer.

Here we go again ;) This topic has been brought up several dozens of times since the game was released... So far: No reaction from the Devs (it's only been four years :P )

Interesting that we had to revive a thread from 2012 to continue the discussion...
You're right. The work here is very important.

We had a reaction, though I can't link a source or anything. But I think some dev stated that they won't touch anything relating to the ship interior anymore because it doesn't pay off...

I really really want this too, but it's not gonna happen.

Devs clearly stated that they have given up on interiors entirely, best we can hope is that they are not removed.

The STO forums aren't the only platform. There's also Facebook and interviews like Priority One, STOked, SB UGC etc....

This was the first issue I ever had with the game. It kills my immersion to get me and all my boffs in uniforms, and then the rest of my crew never bother stopping by the quartermaster during their endless pacing of my corridors.

Isn't this an upcoming option? I read it on the wiki but it didn't have any specifics.

Definitely not. Danial Stahl (who isn't involved in STO business anymore) said that they might have the technology to implement the feature in 2011 and 2012 but they never did. As far as I know the issue is not currently "on the table".
