Devs: Diminishing returns are still either not working correctly, or not displaying correctly.
One specific instance is ship resistance. I have my ship's Phaser resistance (for example) at 0, then equip any console that says that it will improve that resistance by +10, but the resulting resistance displayed is 9.1.
If the console info is wrong, then that needs to be corrected.
If there's a hidden resistance value, then that needs to be displayed.
If '+Resistance Rating' is not the same thing as 'Resistance %', then this needs to be made obvious in the UI.
In addition, damage consoles appear to be adding less than their stated percentage of additional damage. Further, i'd like to request that consoles display the actual amount of whatever that they'll add, taking diminishing returns into account, in addition to their base value.
Also, this diminishing returns UI issue is still affecting Photonic Officer, with regard to how much reduced cooldown each tier actually provides.
My memory may be a bit foggy, but i believe these UI issues have been in the game since launch back in 2010. I've bug reported this in the past and it's still in the game. Figured after 4 years it was time to mention the issue again.
Tac Consoles add a percentage of the base damage of a weapon (the TRIBBLE/Mk 0 version) as a Strength Boost. There is only the appearance of diminishing returns when looking at the incremental increase, however each is actually adding the same amount of damage (+31.9% for an Array (100 base damage) adds +31.9 damage, whether it's the first console or the fifth console - before being modified by Weapon Power, BOFF Weapon Abilities (FAW/BO), or any Bonus Boosts).
The consoles provide their fixed amounts (armor or damage) - the displayed numbers (resistance or damage) are calculated based on potentially ever changing events reflecting what's going on...
Thank you, virusdancer. Once i understood that beam arrays have a base dmg of 100, and that this is the number to which the percentage increase is applied, everything else fell into place.
