Stop offering build advice

scurry5scurry5 Member Posts: 1,554 Arc User
Edit2:
Okay, okay, bad decision. This was originally a passive-aggressive sarcastic post concerning the way some people behave when being offered advice when they complain that something doesn't work for them. Yeah, people complain when they are offered advice. Turns out this is getting waaaaay too misunderstood.

Essentially, it's pretty damn frustrating when someone does this. You want to help, but they just say you're arrogant. It's like someone is using the blunt side of a knife, and then when you say it might be better to flip it, they just say you're arrogant.

Original text:
Okay, here's the deal. When someone complains about how something is underpowered, you're not allowed to say, "You may be doing it wrong, so there isn't a need for a buff," and then offer suggestions.

It means you're an arrogant PvPer, and people don't like it. So don't waste your time. Because, you know, if someone says it's underpowered, it's underpowered, and he is definitely using it to its full efficiency, and there's no way to improve.

Edit: ;)

Yes, what we need on the forum is less people willing to help each other. That will make it all better. :)
STO is about my Liberated Borg Federation Captain with his Breen 1st Officer, Jem'Hadar Tactical Officer, Liberated Borg Engineering Officer, Android Ops Officer, Photonic Science Officer, Gorn Science Officer, and Reman Medical Officer jumping into their Jem'Hadar Carrier and flying off to do missions for the new Romulan Empire. But for some players allowing a T5 Connie to be used breaks the canon in the game.

    Not really.

If you're complaining that something is underpowered and someone offers you a suggestion on how to improve that, then you should take that in and try to make use of it.

If you try optimising whatever it is that's underpowered and still can't get results and nobody can offer suggestions on what to do? That's proper underpowered.

User error is no excuse for a buff or nerf.

...or they could be just someone who wants to help? Everyone does not know everything about this game, advice is always welcome in my book.

Perhaps if you are so disinterested in what people have to say, suggest or recommend then stop coming to a forum.

So if he has a similar build to mine that works very good, but he has something setup wrong and he is complaining that it is underpowered, I cant share my expirence with the build and offer him advice how to change underpowered to very good or even overpowered? Are you trying to troll?

i see, so it was a rant at other players then the added edit to try make it look like something it isnt, what? so its a joke thread? either case its either personal attacks or spam, those are not allowed :P.

yeah and we know haters hate other haters on this forum and it has nothing to do with what your claiming its about either. you get build advice from people who know what they are doing and how best they can help, if you dont want it dont read it.

I'm surprised people didn't get that...

But it raises an important point for posters to consider too: namely, that it's important to keep a tone that keeps things open. I'm sure I'm not the only one who has avoided posting potential fixes to a problem because the OP has made it clear they're simply not interested in anything other than a "you're right, it's broken!" bobblehead response.

Yep PvPers are the worst. They know the content could be deleted without much impact to the game. And clearly this small minority is responsible for everything bad in this game. I mean, they're just a bunch of 14yo min-maxers...

But then why would the devs make Intel ships and powers? All that stuff is a PvPer's wet dream and/or nightmare come true.

Brace for another round of "plz buff" threads about the Intel stuff being underpowered in PvE.

LOL STF is toooooooooooooo easy for asking any buff of underpowered stuff. If you can complete Hive Onslaught as easy as Conduit, then you don't need any buff of any stuff in the game.

'poes law' has been my forum bread and butter for more years than i care to admit. long before the term even existed. not so much on this forum, but there is a grey, neutral space that i like to live in... where a post can be taken in various ways that ensure that the replies betray the judgements and prejudices behind those that post them, which i am then obliged to poke.

(its like old-school trolling 101 hey)
