Might eventually upgrade a few ships I'm particularly attached to (once there is a sale), not because its The Best but because its my baby. The Intel ships, don't really like the looks, and the boff stations are too standardized and rigid for my tastes in odd ships. The Intel Lt is pretty much a false choice, so if you want Intel abilities at all its pretty much locked in the Commander and throws off the rest of the ship. I'm sure they'll do more eventually, hopefully something with a boff setup I like. The other T6 ships, we haven't seen yet, so depends if they offer anything interesting or just more stupid power creep.
[ ] Get/have already gotten a T6 Ship COLOR="Red"]X[/COLOR Go for a T5.75 (T5-U, whatever you prefer)
[ ] Stay with your current T5 / T5.5 Ship
First, I dont like the T6 ships. I'm aware that eventually more T6 ships will be added, so eventually, I might buy one, just not at launch.
Second, the specialization thing. The dev blog says Intelligence is just the first one, and more specializations will be added in the future, but I'm concerned this might end as a half-finished new mechanic, I will wait for the other specializations.
Third, I really like my current ships, so I just will update them
"In every age,
In every place,
The deeds of men remain the same..."
Now we have T6 stats and Fleet T6 confirmed I am definitely staying at T5.75 for as long as I can hold out in case we get an imminent T7 in a year or so. Definitely reduced my purchase motivation to 'the occasional one which looks fun' only.
I'm holding out on the Galaxy-looking Guardian Cruiser, but honestly, I'm going T5-U for all of my guys. I'm still trying to decide if I want to give my KDF-Rom the Tal Shiar Adapted Battlecruiser + Rom Dyson Science Destroyer or buy the 3-pack Scimitar, though.
I got on Tribble tonight just to see what the new upgrade for certain ships were gonna be. I usually run a fleet excelsior and there was no upgrade yet for that ship yet on tribble. Considering the fleet excelsior is a engineering ship I am assuming that I will get a extra engineering console. I am happy with that. I saw the specs on the new T6 ships and I was impressed. I didn't see anything about the Guardian Class. The only ship I am curious about. In short my old Tier 5 ship is ready and willing for Delta Rising. BRING IT ON...
Fleet Admiral of the U.S.S. ATTILA KHAN-CDA (NX-921911).
I'm either going to buy the Eclipse Intel Cruiser, or get the Fleet Ambassador and upgrade it. Can't decide which yet.
I'll have a better idea if/when we find out about T6 ship customisation; because the only thing I'm really digging about the Eclipse's looks right now is that it follows the Heavy Cruiser pattern.
I had to work hard to get my fleet excelsior only to have it mothballed only 2-3 months after getting it why? because crytptic is telling me i have to pay again to make it competitive.
I had to buy the c-store excelsior retrofit then i had to grind for the fleet ship module NOW i have to either buy or grind again?...no i think not
So i opted to grind hard and get a JHDC therefore my upgrade will be free sadly i wont be upgrading any of my other ships including my favorite ship the fleet excelsior.
After further consideration I have decided I'm not likely to get any of the T6 offerings at launch. Though I am most certainly going to upgrade my Avenger, Galaxy-X, Mogh, Scimitar and Vesta to T5U (as well as any of my event ships)
i will upgrade for free any ships to T5u like my vet ships and event ships, when the DR pack goes to the C-store i will buy that with the zen i have saved.
that was very lucky actually as i had been saving up to buy the legacy pack but as the ships in it are mostly passed my level of play and the one that is ok is not worth getting now plus of course all being rom only i feel like ive had a close call, be much better to use the zen i have saved to buy the DR pack and to me thats a much better value pack, all the ships are top level and i have some there for each faction.
i am very close to having the zen needed and by the time the pack is in the store i should have enough zen to get it providing i get all my stipend on time.
When I think about everything we've been through together,
maybe it's not the destination that matters, maybe it's the journey,
and if that journey takes a little longer,
so we can do something we all believe in,
I can't think of any place I'd rather be or any people I'd rather be with.
Ignoring all the hate and mis-assumptions and 'facts' that being at full competitiveness is all that matters, and/or favorite ships are now 'obsolete' with T6 (suuure)...
I'm basically sticking to what I got on my 9+ characters, their ships being:
Why? Well basically, T6 simply does not interest me one bit - and I personally find them entirely underwhelming as the next Tier, especially since they're not required for Delta Rising's expansion. Yes, I say that in full seriousness, even knowing their general capabilities and how they work
So I stick to the above list, because they have fun builds that I enjoy, and will continue to fly them. If they're upgradeable to T5-U, then great for those ships - if not, no big deal either
Was named Trek17.
Been playing STO since Open Beta, and have never regarded anything as worse than 'meh', if only due to personal standards.
I'm sticking with what I have, if I keep playing at all.
It's insane to pawn a MMO off as a Star Trek game and yet have none of the actual ships from Star Trek in the top end tier. A true jump the shark moment for me, but one in line with their previous behavior (all the alien lockbox ships, refusal to honor TOS, oversized glowing ground weapons, etc.) to be honest.
The only reason I hadn't dropped this game long ago was that there just wasn't much else out there worth playing. The final straw will be what happens with the Fleet Holdings, if they dump another Tier with an insane grind on them to allow the purchase of Mk XIV gear, I'm done.
I may be done anyway if the content proves too much for my Fleet Excelsior.
I may be done anyway if the content proves too much for my Fleet Excelsior.
Do not worry, your ship will do fine.
I have watched the livestream of Captain smirk playing borg disconnected.
That guy is an utter incompetent, and yet he managed to succeed the mission in his dinky xindy escort.
It depends on the intelligence boff skills. If they look good I'm buying the DR pack. If not I don't know. I don't own a t5 ship other than some of the free/giveaway ships like Chel Grett, and I don't own a fleet ship. I have more incentive than most to buy the DR pack but I might save my money if it doesn't look like it will be worth it over t5-u which I can also get.
Have they given any info on intelligence boff skills yet? How about the three missing ships from the DR pack? There's supposed to be eight ships but they only told us about five.
Have they given any info on intelligence boff skills yet? How about the three missing ships from the DR pack? There's supposed to be eight ships but they only told us about five.
I assume both of those things will be in upcoming Blogs. As those missing ships were not Intel Class, just standard T6, they really did not belong in the Intel ship Blog.
STO is about my Liberated Borg Federation Captain with his Breen 1st Officer, Jem'Hadar Tactical Officer, Liberated Borg Engineering Officer, Android Ops Officer, Photonic Science Officer, Gorn Science Officer, and Reman Medical Officer jumping into their Jem'Hadar Carrier and flying off to do missions for the new Romulan Empire. But for some players allowing a T5 Connie to be used breaks the canon in the game.
I'll defi Italy be upgrading my fleet galaxy. I love the ship, and I've spent the better part of two years making it a force to be reckoned with. But I'll also be picking up the Intel cruiser. From what I've read, it has a similar layout to my galaxy, and it will have a lot more HP and firepower. On top of that, I plan on getting the other cruiser as well, depending on its stats. The sci and escort ships I'll leave alone. Since the Intel consoles are not interchangeable, there's no reason. to get more than 1.
They're not intel ships? They're standard T6? Didn't know that.
Oh they're not intelligence ships but do have intelligence boff stations:
The remaining three ships are themed around Voyagers journey through the Delta Quadrant, and are split equally among the three factions.
On their mission back to the Alpha Quadrant, Captain Janeway and crew encountered numerous threats and discovered new technological advances.
All of that information was combined, evaluated, and utilized to create Alpha Quadrant ships custom built for incursions throughout the Delta Quadrant. These ships will also feature Intelligence Bridge Officer stations, unique, Delta Quadrant themed consoles, and a brand new Tier 6 ship material that will definitely make your new ships stand out.
They're not intel ships? They're standard T6? Didn't know that.
Oh they're not intelligence ships but do have intelligence boff stations:
Looking forward to seeing their stats.
Yeah, the game will have T5U, T6, T6I (Intel), and, apparently at some point, T6.5 and T6I.5 Fleet.
I think things are going to get a little confusing.

I'll try to keep playing the way I play, which means currently available Tier 5 ships (and some of the slightly better Tier 5.5 event, C-Store pack ships).
If I'm not able to play the same way I do now I can't really predict what'll happen. Maybe a vacation from the game (after the 3-week vacation I just came back from).
TOIVA, Toi Vaxx, Toia Vix, Toveg, T'vritha, To Vrax: Bring in the Allegiance class. Toi'Va, Ti'vath, Toivia, Ty'Vris, Tia Vex, Toi'Virth: Add Tier 6 KDF Carrier and Raider. Tae'Va, T'Vaya, To'Var, Tevra, T'Vira, To'Vrak: Give us Asylums for Romulans.
That is a difficult to answer question as I don't really have any z-store ships that I fly regularly, and I have a couple of different specializations for my captains. My original engies (1 each faction) never got the playtime they deserve because I really don't like the way engies were forced into the tank roles, BUT my fed has his Chel Gret and will make do. My KDF engie on the other hand is becoming a solid performer with the T50 event Kamarag and all the power creep gear from the last couple seasons (ya, I laugh at Recluses and those Dyson battleships now) and am considering a Kami fleet ship upgrade if the price wasn't so outrageous.
My PvP toon (KDF Tac) WAS finally getting very lethal until the last 2 seasons power creep ran him over, so I stopped even trying to PvP with him- I've left my lockbox ships in their crates and he still is mainly used to STF farm, and little else. I might have tried a fleet ship with this guy too but I see little point in it since it wasn't spec'd for PvE and PvP isn't an option anymore unless I scrap all my current purple mk12 gear and replace it with whatever the current power creep gear flavor of the month is.
...That leads me to the question: 2 fleet ships (@ about 2k zen EACH + T5U upgrade charges), -or- 2 KDF z-store ships that get upgraded for free. Hmmm... Maybe a fleet Kami and a z-store ship ? Any way I cook it I come up with a minimum of 5K zen + new gear for only those 2 KDF toons, and nothing for the feddie. So I dunno, I can't say I'm content to 'wait and see' but it may be the only reasonable option ATM.
My fed eng will be in his JHEC My fed sci will be upgrading his vesta. KDF tac guess upgrading his Hoh'sus KDF sci upgrade his fleet Kar'fi. Rom tac well guess its the new rom T6
The discussion is going strong, and the camps are fighting the good fight for their respective opinions.
However, because of the "good fights", it's actually hard to determine how the "temperature of the waters is", so I am going to get down to basics and ask straight out, to try to get a better feeling for things:
Will you, once x2 goes live:
[ ] Get/have already gotten a T6 Ship
[ ] Go for a T5.75 (T5-U, whatever you prefer)
[ ] Stay with your current T5 / T5.5 Ship
And for what reason?
I also know this is a long shot, but try not yo get into the whole discussion if it is good or bad as I think it would derail the thread, but feel free to correct obvious misunderstandings that might help make the results as precise as possible.
Again: It's a long shot... perhaps even overly optimistic... But try.
I'm kinda-sorta thinking about getting the package deal, but I'm not sure I'll have enough money saved up by Oct. 14th.
After that point, if I haven't acquired the D.R. set, I'll probably just pick and choose what appeals to me and I can afford. Either upgrades to my T-5's (I don't have any Fleet ships) or the new ships.

I collect many ships and I want a intelligence ship so I seem intelligent!!! :P

Now shaddup about the queues, it's a BUG

I may buy a new T6 vessel or two to try them out. But the main ships currently used by my characters will definitely get upgraded.
Any "reserve" ships that are free to upgrade will get one, just because.
My main reason is why would I ditch perfectly good ships? They'll remain viable at endgame.
Sooner or later I may go T6 across the board. But that will depend on several factors, and will be aways off before that happens.
If Cryptic would give us either of these two all would be forgiven.
