Warp Speed in Sector Space

Have they made any announcement regarding some standard for engines/warp cores that go above warp 10?

I was excited back when they announced warp cores because I thought I would stop having to change engines, but it seems it's still just a handful of engines that allow you to go above 10, and two unique warp cores.

Why isn't there some standardization? Why can't they make it so all endgame cores and/or engines allow some speed above 10?

All reputation and fleet engines should allow for a warp factor past 10. They do not have to be as fast as the Borg, but at least make putting points in driver coil not completely useless.

I use Missionstranswarp, cheap, fast and no skill points wasted ;)

I really think Warp Core should effect Sector Speed and Engines only Effect Space speed.

Although that would propose making a Warp Core for the old 3P Space Sets. Perhaps they'll work this out next tier in the expansion.

Seriously would anybody be really opposed to making an Assimilated Borg, MACO, KHG & Omega Warp Cores? Why not an Aegis Warp Core. JH Warp Core, Romulan/Reman Warp Cores.

Despite the fact I say Warp Core I consider a Singularity Core should be available too for the sets as well.

Been there, done that, no answers as of yet...

One of the reasons they gave for the introduction of warp cores is that they were planning on moving "sector speed bonuses" to the warp cores...

Then, outside of just the one on the Tal'Shiar Battlecruiser, there hasn't been a single one released... :(

I've thought that every "event" and the "basic" fleet cores 11, "elite" cores 12. This leaves the "speed sets" from the reputation system 13+...
Detecting big-time "anti-old-school" bias here. NX? Lobi. TOS/TMP Connie? Super-promotion-box. (aka the two hardest ways to get ships) Excelsior & all 3 TNG "big hero" ships? C-Store. Please Equalize...

I did like flying a Tal Shiar Adapted Destroyer because I could travel at Warp-20 and use the Omega Force engines to keep the cool down low on my Slipstream Drive.

It would be nice if they let us craft or modify existing engines to improve maximum warp speed, slipstream duration &/or cooldown, and Slipstream turnrate.

If they wouldd give all Standard cores the ability to make your ship faster than Warp 10 it would take one special feature away from Borg, MACO and Fleet Impulse drives. Warp 10 is Warp 10 and its not really necessary to get faster. if i wanna go somewhere really quick i use slipstream, Transwarp or equip the Borg /Fleet impulse drive on my ship while i am travelling. I used 3 points for drivers coil which gives me standard Warp 17 with the Borg Drive. Thats fast enough.

Yes, but it's annoying to (1) have to dip into Omega just to get a set of Borg engines, and (2) swap them in for travel and out for combat.

What. Too much exertion to drag your current engines out, replace em with different ones? How do you play :P

It's not a matter of exertion, but tedium. An IMO unnecessary step, performed over and over.

They designed new Warp Drives that don't cause problems. Voyager was fitted with those.

I just designated my Miranda class as the fast horse in between sectors. With the BORG set 20.93 transwarp. Then I switch back to my regular ride for my every day stuff.

Wouldn't it be easier to use a Shuttle? I sometime fly around in my shuttle set for high speed and when the que pops I arrive in my normal ship.

Also you don't need to go to a Star Base to change you can just do it by going to the ship's bridge.

Admittedly you probably enjoy the look of the Miranda more than a Shuttle.

That actually a really good idea I had not previously considered. A high warp shuttle for traveling and a combat ready starship to queue into.

More like, they realized that though it made a very environmentally-conscious episode, it pretty much gutted one of the core elements of Trek, and decided (aside from a few token hand-waves) to Never Speak Of This Again.

Fair warning - I tried this at one point and had all kinds of weird bugs, including the shuttle's loadout being swapped with the ship's, not being able to engage full impulse... maybe I just got unlucky, but beware.

They painted themselves into a corner and needed to paint themselves out.

Point two, I had some initial issues with it when Shuttles could still be used in STFs, but it's worked fine for me for a long time, especially considering I usually use the 3P borg sets I had lying around (from when they came in Mk X, XI & XII).

Edit: This is now happening to me, the Shuttle trick seems to no longer work because when you switch back to your ship it screws everthing up.

The shuttle thing is a bit bugged. I kept queuing in without any gear active.
