Sorry Sal, but the Federation is no longer the alliance of races founded on co-operation and peace, it's fleet of what were once vessels of exploration and beacons of peace and stability in an ever changing galaxy are now all five Tactical console cloaking warships violating Treaties we agreed to uphold, commanded by people who shoot first before any consideration of options, who are two faced and hypocrites, abandoning the very values they swore to uphold as Starfleet officers.
I can no longer support this disorder and affront that the Federation has become.
At least the KDF is honest about being what it is, whether you read KDF as Klingon Defence Force or Klingon Dilithium Farmers.

I mean, Cryptic's interpretation of the Treaty of Algeron is one thing. After all, every person's interpretation and perception of any Treaty can differ drastically. The beauty of the Federation is these differences can be discussed and talked about but at the end of the day, a decision has to be taken and of course, some people are going to be pissed. But to be so upset to the point akin saying : "I am now going to join ISIS to murder you all!" is like...WTF? Really, just one bad apple? How about a gank of 8 - 10 angry HOBOs on Team Speak trying every cheating trick in the book to nab you? If it were really just one or two bad apples, that's one thing. The sad truth is the corruption came from the very top, aka. Link down to every single willing participant to the crime. Where is the honor you speak of? And when HOBOs are spawn camping in Kerrat, many other non-HOBO Klinks happily join the fray. This is not to say spawn camp doesn't happen in the reverse. However, everytime that happens, there is always at least one Fed on zone chat reminding people not to spawn camp - always. Whether the other players heed that advice or not is another question. But on the Klink side - lol, never shown any sign of honor by at least asking people not to spawn camp. Instead, there are only calls for more to join the frey a la true 14 years old childish fashion.

I think it's funner that some people get so bent out of shape over people throwing some harmless goofy references into the mix. If your personal sense of cool-factor is super threatened by someone talking about some fake treaty from a TV show in the context of a pixel space game full of fictional characters, you might need to re-evaluate the source of your self-esteem.

Unlike the evul HOBOs such as yourself, I appreciate people with a true sense of honor who may otherwise be misguided. And I regularly built PvP ships that are canon to the core and it works very well. No, it may not have highest dps and all, but they work great despite the myths that only lock box ships and elachi cheese are pvp materials.

I'm kinda' in the same boat with you OP, I'm about to resign all my Fed. characters and withdraw completely to the KDF once 'Delta Rising' hits holodeck. I share your feelings and thoughs....this just isn't the same UFP that was in the shows I loved. This is Cryptic's messed vision of an imperialistic Federation filled with militaristic sociopaths. That is not the Star Trek I know and love.
At least from a lore perspective, the KDF and the affiliated organizations/species still behave in some manner which would be expected by them in the IP. And the ships look better as well. :cool:
As for the recommendations - well if you want a pure KDF (cause the game interactions are slanted like that), you go with a Klingon. If you really mean to go full science, a Joined Trill is the best option.
In terms of pure science ships, I don't know how you stand in the credit department, but I'd highly recommend the Korath as a science ship. I know it's lockbox and that there are other lockbox sci.vessels, however this is the only 'pure' Klingon ship from that pool and I never cared about the rest enough to really know them. Besides, the Korath is really good.
Then there are the DSDs, which are not my cup of tea personally, but they're good solid science ships if science is what you want to do. I don't like how they feel, but people have been using and praising them, so they must do sth. right.
Finally there is the Varanus/Fleet Varanus which is the one I actually use on my sci. Joined Trill and while it's not the top-notch of science, it's a damn solid ship. There are certain players (you know who you are) that can help you build a shockingly good Varanus if they're willing to help. I doubt I could help much because I mostly play my KDF tac.characters and sci. only recreationally.
