So I stand by my previous opinion. Really don't like that 4-nacelle "thing" that is supposed to be a cruiser. And neither the Escort nor the Science vessel have an aesthetic which says "This is a Starfleet Vessel."

The Guardian at least has the look of being Starfleet, but I gotta wonder what is Cryptic's fascination with bulky cruisers? To be perfectly blunt, that ship looks fat and frumpy. And given the recent design trend (Odyssey) no doubt the Guardian will be about the size of 3 Galaxy class starships combined.

Yeah, I'll stick with what I know, and what I definitely like. If the gameplay ends up being boosted up to the point that existing T5 ships cant run the content, then sayonara.

Bulky? That new Intel Cruiser looks as flat as a pancake. The Avenger isn't bulky - just has shorter proportions all around, but is still fairly small. The Regent is also a very flat ship. The Odyssey is thankfully well-rounded (even if not everybody likes the aesthetic).

I also doubt that the Guardian will be much larger than a Galaxy or Odyssey.
Forget the possibility of PvP, for so much has become pay-to-win, never to be balanced. Forget the promise of exploration and research, for in the grim dark future of Star Trek Online there is only war. There is no peace amongst the stars, only an eternity of carnage and slaughter, and the laughter of thirsting publishers.

The Escort looks like an evolved Defiant
The cruiser looks like an evolved Prometheus
and the galaxy looking one...well speaks for itself.

I have to say I really, really hate the visual design of the new fed ships. The romulan and Klingon at least have the familiar Star Trek design cues but the federation ones could be pulled from any generic space game, the cruiser in particular has a sort of neon battlestar vibe. They seem to have no Star Trek feel at all.

If that MaHa console is unlimited in placement on other ships (not just MaHa, not just Raptors), then I'll probably forgive the fact KDF has received HALF the love required for parity. Probably.

I'm not too sold on some of these designs, but I'm totally down for the Tier 6 Ambassador.

I won't be buying this pack, I don't play my Romulan or Klingon nearly enough to justify the price and the fed ships are not very visually appealing. The only thing I actually care about are the ship upgrade tokens, the titles, the boffs / doffs and cosmetic stuff.

    About these new Intelligence BOFFs...

It sounds like this pack awards three BOFFs per toon? Or is it 3 BOFFs per pack, one per faction?

I second this question. I really hope it is per character.

I have to say that the Fed Ships don't really do it for me. It's like whoever designed them had a weekend Netflix binge of watching old anime mecha shows and Tron. They're just too generic for my personal taste.

So they're adding an Expose/Exploit setup to the new ships huh? Great, just what the game needs.

Also, surprised the Klingons aren't frothing-mad (more than normal anyways) about the Fed escort getting a cloak, or the Rom ship getting enhanced battlecloak.

oh don't worry, it'll be happening soon enough

especially since those cloaks appear to be integrated and not consoles

so you take away what makes sci ships sci ships even if we upgrade , doesnt makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside

    i called it

feds got 4 and kdf and rom got 2 each

:P Ah, but does successfully "calling it" count as a "win"?
We will be posting blogs regarding the ships and all their wonderful stats and abilities very soon. :)

    Heh, definitely interested in that.

Yeah, but at least if they're Cloaked part of the time we don't have to look at them. Mostly just disappointed at the potential homogenization of things, since I have characters across each faction... but for once the Klingons are better looking, so the offerings in general are rather strange this time around.

I'm no stranger to micro-transactions and buying DLC's. Looking at my vast collection of DLC's for MMO's and stand-alone box games, I'll go so far as to admit I may have a DLC addiction. Between Lifetime membership, and all the ships I've bought for this game I'm clearly not one to pause too long on paying for additional extras. Also, having spent several years in software development myself I completely understand and appreciate the business end of the computer software industry.

That being said, when a complete "AAA" video game takes around $60 million (That's $60,000,000.00) to $80 million to develop and cost about $70.00 for me to buy. Shelling out $125.00 for a DLC expansion seems excessive. Considering PWE paid a little over $50 million for Cryptic and all it's IP's a few years ago. When I see the $125 asking price for this new DLC and can't help but to wonder how much of that is actual voice talent and man-hours invested, and how much of that might be fleecing?

well based on what was shown here, the T5 upgrades are worthless. Those new abilities are way Over Powered over what we have now. Why would i waste any time on them and not get T6?

So about that treaty the United Federation of Planets signed that prohibits them from developing cloaking technology? Yeah where the hell did that go and when? :P You know the one that STO lore even expressly states that cloaking technology is illegal.

The guarding cruiser looks like it could be a cool galaxy/ambassador skin but the other 3 look like fecal matter and have 0 federation design asthetic to them.

The Klingons and Romulans got nice looking ships but, damn, can you EVER get over yourselves and stop with the fed bias on development??!! You want more money out of KDF and RR stop giving the feds 4x the TRIBBLE you give the other factions and give us something to buy ffs!

    Holy TRIBBLE.

    That done with,

    1. The fed ships look bizarre but the KDF and Rom ships are hella sexy.
    2. Integrated cloaks in fed ships? Ugh
    3. Interesting consoles.
    4. Gimmicks out the butt. They may have lower stats than T5-U11 ships but they are probably equal if not greater in performance. They sound absolutely deadly in the right hands.

    Might buy, might not.

Without raging at me (yes I know what's been said in the past) I would have preferred the Eclipse Intel Cruiser to share more of a design with the Constitution or the Columbia (NX-01 refit), obviously not being one of these ships, just sharing the same aesthetic, like the Guardian does with the Galaxy, I know that in the future we may still not have this with future tier 6 ships obviously, but a guy can dream cant he?

The Expansion, Delta Rising, is free. This Operations pack gets you all initial Tier 6 ships, intelligence Boffs, intelligence doffs, costumes, titles, and other goodies. All usable at Endgame, to boot.

I'm actually considering it, as it looks like it's a pretty good deal. Now, if there were a few lockbox keys in there to sweeten the deal....:)

Im probably going to get it.

    8 Ships
3 Upgrade Tokens - Definitely a selling point for me.
    3 Boffs
    3 Doffs
Large number of Titles - Could care less about this.

The number of ships you get for the price tag is enough for me. But the tokens are icing on the cake.

Im not much of a fan of the ship designs. But Im hoping in the future I can slap a Sao Paulo Skin onto it. And if I can...Thats great because the Stealth Module is built in and wont be taking up a slot.

No iconic Tier 6 ships? No thank you.

The Guardian Cruiser looks like an iconic Tier 6 ship since it has the classic Star Trek ship shape for its silhouette. Although there is the unfortunate possibility that it is just a placeholder. I kind of doubt that though since it is not an Intelligence ship so there is a very good chance it won't have the Stealth Fighter look to it.
