Hey folks, I'm new to Star Trek Online and loving it I might add...

However, with Delta Rising releasing soon(ish) I couldn't help but wonder something. You know how you can assign department heads in the Duty Officer Assisgnment thingymabob?
Well...

A) Can I please have a bit at the bottom to officially assign a bridge officer as my ships conn officer (the guy who flys the starship) and another bit to assign one of my bridge officers as my ships counsellor?

B) Can these assigned department head positions in the Duty Officer Assignment thingymabob please fix my assigned officers to the apropiate stations when I view my starships bridge? You know, my assigned first officer in the apt chair next to mine. The operations officer at his apt station...etc?

C) When I visit my sickbay, could be medical officer be there rather than generic guy in blue? And likewise with my counsellor in the mess/lounge?

I just think this would be cooler and more customisably apt if you wonderful development folk could do this for us all. I don't know if it's been asked for before...but if so, consider this a renewed request.

Anyone else like the ideas?

:)

    Greetings and welcome!

In terms of game mechanics, the assignment of Department Heads is really there to allow for the "right" bridge officer to talk to you in dialogues, when it's called for in missions. It is also a common mechanic to Federation, Klingon, and Romulan gameplay. As the Klingons don't have counselors, it would have to be made non-common (which may or may not be easy to do). It would be nice if there were specific Departments for each faction (heck, for each career type and faction), but I'm not sure how likely it would be to achieve.

As a workaround, personally I tend to just treat "tactical" as the Conn. Another option is to use the "Biography" bit available to (almost) every bridge officer to note this information for yourself. It at least has the benefit of being flexible - my Romulan toons have alliance officers on board listed as "KDF/Federation Alliance Liaison to the ship".

There has been discussions on the forums about ship interiors in general and your ideas are the type of thing that players want as part of an overall update of ship interiors. The recent(ish) update of the tutorial with its new corridors suggested that work is being undertaken on interiors, and there's a player community-created document around somewhere that deals with options for ship interiors to be used regularly. No idea if/what is being worked on by the powers that be, but hopefully it'll happen!

The Klingons could have a more hands-on type who specializes in wall-to-wall counseling.
