My Idea for the Alien Race Option

jamescommanderjamescommander Member Posts: 4 Arc User
I was thinking the Aliens are to human, Something i'd like to see added to the game is on the alien Race option we could get, different styles of Leg like the ones the Sangheili have in Halo and the Quarians in mass Effect, also have the ability to change how many fingers the have from 5 down to 3 at least, also give them new head and mouth like ideas because id live to make some thing really Alien not Just a human With a slightly altered face. it would make the Alien race so much better then it is now.

I'd would love to see something like these

It would increase the amount of players ideas and also be able to make an Actual Alien.

It was discussed before. Just like in the show, aliens in this game are mostly humanoid because it's easier to do.
If we had different legs and arms/fingers, that would either imply clipping issue or new animation. Lots of work for something relatively small.

As for fat people, in the ST universe the food you have comes from replicators that calculate exactly what you need. And may use alternative ingredient that taste the same without any health risk for sugar or salt for example, if needed. As for any disease/genetic trouble than can make you fat, I'm pretty sure it's treated as well, considering how advanced they are.
In the end, to be fat in ST, that would be something you work for.

The issue I see with something like an elite's raptorial legs is that they would require new animations for all movement actions. That takes quite a lot of dev resources and as someone or another from cryptic explained a while back (when talking about the possibility of a Xindi Insect boff) there needs to be a pretty sizable incentive (ie. a new major faction) to justify that big expense.

Three fingers though wouldn't seem to require anything at that scale nor would body modifications along the lines of the Heirarchy's potato-shaped physique (which is just a matter of proportions, all the bits work the same way) or non-caitian tails (which is something I want, **** apes lets have some lemur/monkey/monitor lizard derived aliens) which you could say we already have the infrastructure for. New body textures would also be welcome (ex. Lissepian so we can use that AND short sleeves).

    Two things.

    1. Different legs and arms would be a problem if they had different configurations. What's wrong with having only two or three fingers? You can use the same hand skeleton just without say the middle and pinky fingers corresponding to any visible asset. Its adding joints/components (joints, limbs, ect.) that seems to require time and developers but the reductive approach (ex. fewer fingers, no mouths, bare foot alien option instead of boots) would seem like a much smaller problem.

    2. Are hippos obese or are their bodies just built to a different frame? You may automatically associate "fatness" with an unhealthy lifestyle but throughout star treks assembly of rotund aliens you have absolutely no idea of what their species selective regime has been. Maybe they've been built to occupy a savannah grassland but have since fallen for the allure of the twinky OR perhaps they've come from a cold tundra where in accordance with Bergmann's Rule (see. real science) they've adapted a much lower surface area to volume ratio.

You can't impose the physique of your typical Hollywood B actor as the model for all star trek aliens because in being alien you can easily justify something else depending on your intended artistic direction or aspect of biological design.

The Canon answer is: humanoids populate all corners of the Universe, because we all come from the same ancestor race.
