Hierarchy Guide

Is there a good hierarchy guide as to the different space sets? Omega Primary lists all of them, but I'm not sure if they are in order.

    Each set has a place. General knowledge is best here and the community driven gamepedia.com wiki does the job well

    I'm not aware of any guide such as you request nor if there even IS a "hierarchy" as such. The different sets have different bonuses/uses. Each is suitable for a different use/kind of build and each should be chosen for what you wish to accomplish or the type of build you're trying to make or the type of fighting you plan to do.

    I don't believe there is any definitive way to rank them from best to worst as I do not believe that one is inherently better than any other under all/any circumstances.

    That said, some sets are more well rounded and better for general purpose use than others. M.A.C.O./Adapted M.A.C.O and KHG/AKHG are pretty decent all around sets. If oyu want to keep your Romulan mostly "Romulan, use the Romulan set. It has slightly better stats than the Reman set and both share the same set powers.

    The Borg set is good if you're not fighting Borg, but limited and not much use against borg themselves. At least in my experience. I could be in the minority here. Now, a 2 piece combo of the adapted borg tech set, assimilated module and KCB is a pretty good general purpose set.

    Aside from that, look up the stats and set powers of each set and the various individual pieces and get which ones seem to suit your playstyle, needs.

    Personally, I have M.A.C.O. 3 piece on my Fed, AKHG 3 piece on my Klingon and an Aegis 3 piece set on my Romulan. I have the Adapted Borg Tech 2 piece set, Assimilated Module and KCB, on all my ships.

    While none of my ships would qualify, I don't believe as "high DPS'ers" they do decently enough in eSTF's and general PVE play that I am happy with how they perform.

    For details on my ships, links to skillplanner in signature. Far from a complete list, but these are the ones I have some personal experience with/knowledge of. To compare the various specs and powers of each set;

    Sure. I'll do it for you:

    Specifically, I'm a Sci captain loaded with Lobi, Lockbox, and Borg gear at the moment. The gravity well is my bread and butter that I like to pin them down with, then destroy with missiles, omega torpedoes, point defense, and elite beams.
    In my situation, which space set (deflector, engines, shields) would be best for me?

    Fed, Klingon or Romulan? Which ship?

    The Romulan and Reman sets are good for exotic damage/powers, as is the Aegis set. The Aegis set also has bonus resistances and defense. The down side to the Aegis set, you either have to craft your own or buy from the exchange. Sets on the exchange are currently running 30 to 45mil EC for a complete set.

    Not flying a Fed carrier, I would have no idea. I would stick with whatever kind comes with it for now, maybe upgrade to a higher version of those. I use elite Scorpion Fighters on my Rom Carrier, which I don't fly very much.

    How is the Romulan set slightly better than the Reman... ?

    As far as I can tell, they're nearly identical except that the Reman shield is better against Disruptors rather than Phasers, the Reman engines add bonus shield regeneration, and the Reman Deflector favors stealth over stealth detection.

    I was leaning toward the Reman set for my Ar'kif, but am I missing something basic here? :confused:

    The Romulan engines boost Attack Pattern effectiveness, the Reman engines boost maneuvers which impacts defense, the Romulan engines also has a slightly higher flight speed boost. The Reman shield regen only applies during Full Impulse. You don't spend a lot of time during combat at Full Impulse. In fact, Full Impulse is disabled during combat. And as I said, the Romulan set is slightly better stat wise. The two sets are almost identical. Differing only in small, slight details.

    Basically look at it like this;

    Romulan Set for attack and offense.
    Reman Set for Defense and exoctic damages.
