I am starting the Tac Vesta and I am liking it so far. I have gotten a lot of good suggestions from people here and I came up with a couple of builds for PvE. This is also based on my experience flying the RA RSV and what seems to work with that.

http://www.stoacademy.com/tools/skillplanner/index.php?build=mmrephoton_6771

http://www.stoacademy.com/tools/skillplanner/index.php?build=mmrephotonalt3_6771

I have not gotten all the parts yet, still working through the rep and the dillthium for that.

There is a chance your floatila gets mothballed when Ex#2 releases.

I love the vesta line. It's versatile, powerful, and IMO fun to play. Mess around with it and see what you like. I have 3 characters using one, 2 science and 1 tac. One science character uses 3 aux cannons and the other uses beams with the grav torpedo. I love the science version because it's capable of making a mega grav well if built correctly.

There may be a free upgrade, there may not. Cryptic is leaving us guessing and sticking to what is safe to do. Glad you like your Vesta. I like my FAC.

Your build was one of the ones that I looked at when I setup mine. What do you think of these builds?

Yes, that certainly is possible. However, I am not going to stop playing this game the way I want to for a few months based on what might happen.

It is also possible that there will be an inexpensive upgrade to what I purchased when the expansion comes out and will have several months of enjoying my new ship and layout in the meantime.

i fly all sorts of ships so it wasn't like im just used to Cruisers or Escorts etc i just found them like paper and more so than an escort.

maybe my build who knows but when you go boom more in a Vesta then a Escort you know they kinda pooh lol

I fly my vesta very offensive. It can also tank quite a while, and does a solid 18k+ with pugs.

Nice build, and you actually use thesci slots for science.

Thank you, but I really wonder what else you can slot there except HE,TSS and GW (and would make sense). TR comes to mind, but with this build its one or the other (since I wouldnt cut down the heals), and their I favor GW because of Tetryon Kascade and Warpcore breaches.
Or to be more simple, what do you mean with using Sci slot for sci?^^

This is my 10k+ dps build (often first at CCE)

    http://skillplanner.stoacademy.com/?build=minemine_0

for that aft omni antiproton I use omni phaser.

    (25% + 25% + 22% torp dmg makes this build very good)

For doffs using: 2 fleet con offi, 2 fleet maintenance offi, 2 development lab scientists.

Vesta is the best ship :) cheers.

That seems to be the case with all Science ships I have flown. The key seems to be to keep the shields up and use the resist buffs to make them tougher to penetrate. That is also why I have two hull and two shield healing abilities in both builds.

That is also why on the MMRE_Photon build has two Neutronium Engineering consoles, so the ship can last a little longer.

    125/76/54/56

you can change sicence team 3 into sci team 2 and pick energy syphon for more power. Usually my power never goes less than 90. I'll buy plasmonic leech and put it when T6 come(I hope T6 will come with 1 more console slot).

    hull: 39350
    shields: 14904
    26.5% kinetic ress
    31.6% all resist
    acc 32.6%
    crit 13.8%
    sever 68.8%
    28.8 deg/sec turn rate

5560 torp kin dmg (655 dps)
    537.3 proton (858 dps)
    1221 phaser dmg (977 dps) x3
    1344 (1043 dps) kinetic beam

I think thats it. (plus 2 tactical romulan boff's with 1.5% and 2% crit chance + crit ceverity..)

Actually flowcap was my starting point. Or better: more energy. Then I asked myself, what synergies I could bring in, and Plasma came to mind.

I was like you: I bought the Vesta 3 pack and regretted it for a number of months. I ignored my Vesta pack and played STO for another 8 months.

When I got bored I decided to pull my Vestas out of mothballs and give them another try since I saw so many other people using it. I discovered that with the 3-piece set and the right build (using good shields to compensate for the lack of hull) the Vesta is a VERY versatile ship with a surprising ability to keep enemies under control and dish out damage.

Oh, and that deflector dish phaser console does INSANE damage when you dump your power into aux. That alone makes the Vesta worth flying.

The Vesta went from being my most hated ship (because I spent all that money and didn't end up using them) to being one of my favorite ships in STO.

I really hope there is either a free T6 upgrade for the Vesta or a new fleet version of the Vesta with DR.
In the immortal words of Captain Sisko: "It may not be what you believe, but that doesn't make it wrong."

Don't believe the lies in this forum. I am NOT an ARC user. I play STO on Steam or not at all.

Since you have the three pack, I recommend one of the funniest setups for team PvP and PvE bosses out there. Draaaaaaaiiiiiiinssssss.
Step 1:Load that bish down with flow caps, respec to max out flow caps too, use aux phaser DHC, max out auxiliary power settings and shields, run Energy siphon 3 and 2 or 3 and 1, with the usual load of sci abilities.
Step 2: DRAIN YO HEART OUT!! In PvP with a team, this can be very effective as you drain about 60 power from each subsytem of your target and add it to yours, with aux power maxed your aux phaser DHC never run out of juice, and your science abilities are insane. use the quantum focus phaser from the tac variant, that thing is a pain in the TRIBBLE against any enemy. In PvE, you can shut down cubes and tac cubes. Nuff said, one of the best sci builds out there imo.

+1 on this! I was looking at Fleet Mk XII Shields today and then asked myself "WTF are you doing?!? That's going to be vendor trash in 2 months!" :D
Sometimes I think I play STO just to have something to complain about on the forums.

They work but I'm curious how well you turn. Esp since one is on the AUX cannon build.

So far it is turning well, though I am still missing some pieces from the build. For example I am running the Solanae set for the Deflector, Engine and Shield. I have both torpedoes, but not the Proton beam or the universal console. I ran through ICE last night and I had just a little over 8K for dps.

I am currently trying out the Quantum Field Focused Phaser and it has been working nicely. Based on the comments in the thread, I came up with another build:

    http://www.stoacademy.com/tools/skillplanner/index.php?build=mmrephotonalt1_6771

I can swap the Enhanced Bio-molecular torpedo to the front for Undine ship events, otherwise the Gravimetric stays up front.

I've tried aux cannon build. That dps sucks, tried CCE and Infected elite and was 3rd on CCE and 3rd in Infected with 6.8k dps, compared to my beam build 10k+ dual aux heavies are far behind.

with delta rising at the door I dont know if they are gonna buff Aux heavies because they are mk12 and we are getting mk14 with new expansion. Vesta need at least 4/3 in new expansion to be competitive to beams.

Lol trying to DPS with a sci ship....you aren't gonna get over the top damage with a vesta aux set up, but you are gonna be an OP science player. If I wanted to DPS i'd get on my tac.

Y I tried :P and I am tac captain :D but I can compete with my beam build with everyone.

Aux-Setup can do well over 10k, classic beam setup can do well over 20k. Do you really need more dps?
