As a kid I built the original AMT kits to help with my Star Trek fix in between re-runs. I am missing having a model of the Enterprise.

I'm looking for a fully assembled, TOS NCC-1701 Constitution class. Lights an added plus, and sound effects are optional. Who can recommend a good quality version?

I've seen this one but the reviews and even their own promotional photo show poor build quality.

P.S. What ****** made that video? TNG music for the TOS model? Fail.

Heh, same here. I'm a Star Trek fan, but not that big of one. I wouldn't mind grabbing one of those $60 models that you linked to on Amazon, however. With a little bit of X-Acto work removing the excess sprue, some model putty to fill in the gaps and a bit of paint, I bet it could look pretty good.

Actually it's the music from Star Trek: The Motion Picture, which was later arranged for TNG. I do agree that the person should have used the TOS theme though.

I am a life long model builder and, of course, I recommend building one. ;)

The one you want is the Polar Lights 1/350 Original Series Enterprise. I have it and it is a great kit! Polar Lights went out of their way with its detail. You can even look through the top dome and see the bridge! The kit is also made to have lights added, and Polar Lights also makes the lighting kit and a special decal kit that will add grid lines and weathering to duplicate the original studio model. Of course, those two items are separate... more money. :(

The kit is about $100 off ebay. The decal/detail kit is about $40. The lighting kit is the real whopper at $150+.

Here is a link to the Polar Lights page about the kit... http://www.round2models.com/models/star-trek/1-350-scale-enterprise

There is a series of building "how to's" on youtube here:

    Hope this helps.
