Foundry feedback - a big thanks to our 'angel' Devs.

captainhunter1captainhunter1 Member Posts: 1,633 Arc User
I just wanted to say a big thank you to all the folks on the Cryptic team who helped with the latest round of stuff added to the Foundry.

From item additions, to new uniforms options, to additional ship costumes (and the customization dropdowns!), to...well, you get the picture. :P

I know we don't have an assigned Dev who is responsible for the Foundry, so thanks to all the people who took the time (and maybe their own free-time at that!) to do this. It's very much appreciated. :) And we (the forever disgruntled player-base :D) don't often say this enough...

THANK YOU!

    I want to echo this

Previously I had a Cameo of one of my Player characters in a mission, But couldn't recreate ,my character or ship.
Now the Regent parts and Oddy uniforms make this possible, big thanks.

Also more generally, I am extremely grateful to see all the new Uniform code parts being added, Even the Veteran belt for recreating Admirals, Thank you so much for that.
I love being able to have my NPCs match the Placeable NPC group default uniforms, in my view it makes it easier to produce more proffesional looking foundry missions, Which helps to reduce the "fanfic" impression many players have

Aww, this is so great to see!

Thank you for the kind words. Yes, tacofangs and ThomasTheCrypticCat and I all spent a bit of our "free" time adding this stuff, because we know how much you all wanted it. Glad to see you're enjoying it!

And rest assured, this is not the last batch of Foundry additions. We're all still hard at work, adding stuff whenever we can.

(I'm also trying to fix some of the issues with ship costumes where some ships show up multiple times in the list. It's a work in progress. :))

We thank you so much for your efforts. After spending so long without updates, it's great to know we've got so many devs willing to help us out in their spare time.

Some of us have started calling you guys the Three Foundry Musketeers, which I suppose would then make JamJamz be d'Artagnan!

Good to see my favorite set of developers at work. Is there any chance that Rebel Klingons will ever be added to the foundry?

Rebel Klingons are a type of Klingon mob. You fight them in the Beta Thoridor system patrol in TD. Thing is, they're virtually identical to regular Klingons, so I don't see why they need to be added to the Foundry.

They're identical except that they allow KDF missions to have you fight Klingons. Currently you have to fake it by reskinning non-Klingon mobs.

Yes, thank you. I wish it didn't require free time on the part of nice folks who are probably already over-worked. It's really great to get some support from devs.

Indeed. Thank you to our wonderful devs for all the support. You guys rock.

Thats exactly what he means. Right now, all the races that use Disruptors/Photons are friendly to the KDF making it impossible to have Klingons vs a reskinned Disruptor race (Elachi and Romulans aside, but they're extremely noticable as reskinned mobs).

It also prevents stories about conflict between houses. Which, I'm sure you guys would love the foundry to add to the House of Torg story.

Yep they're used in Patrols and Klingon fleet alert, in addition to being ground mobs that are never used anywhere except for only 1, placed solely in the club in The Undying. If possible rebel Klingon ground mobs would be nice.

What I really hope for in some future update for the foundry is the ability to set Mobs to be friendly or against the Player.

So you can have friendly Klingons that are not re-skinned mobs helping feds/Rom Feds, or friendly Romulans Helping Klingons, etc.

I think that's what the person means. Klingons as of right now in their storyline can fight against the remnants of the House of Torg. Later in the Tau Dewa sector patrol missions, Klingons and Federation characters (and Romulans allied with either) can fight them.

It would be fun to have the ability to select Klingons as an enemy group so we can make some foundry missions with proper fighting in-between klingons instead of having to re-skin federation mobs as Klingons.

Romulan republic mobs already exist in the foundry. These are essentially what you'd be referring to.

The Klingon Rebels appear in Tau Dewa as a different faction than normal Klingons, complete with their own kill accolade (Maintaining Order, with the title Orderly).

Been a while since I ground out that accolade, but if I remember right, the Gorn rebels in Tau Dewa are also on that accolade instead of the usual Gorn kill count.

Thank you guys and gal for all your wonderful work. I've already updated my NPCs with the new Odyssey uniforms, as well as modernized a few choice hero ships. And the floors...well, it's enough to bring a tear to this Foundry author's eye.

Well, Tuskin's request is a bit more broad than just allied Romulans. He would like to be able to set a flag to make ANY combat mob either enemy or ally.

Klingons that will fight other Klingons?

Wow haven't seen anything from you since the days of the beta f2p stuff lol.

I can answer this though. Okay basically with the launch of Season 7 and LoR and the revamped content and new missions to the KDF it intoduces the fact that there are Rebel Klingons aka the remaining House of Torg and the Gorn rebels that didn't fall in line with the KDF as seen in the content with Nimbus.

Roughly if we are able to customize enemies without having to put a costume on each and every enemy npc that will pull out the actual npcs weapons which still doesn't feel right and takes pain staking additional time to do all that for a mission that players may never actually play.

At one point long ago I would have been against the idea of the foundry being used as a substitute for certain content but if changes were made to create rebels and change the difficulty since there is a big difference in difficulty between FE npcs/NPC's for dailies like the breen/true way/pi canis sorties/adventure zones and then the difficulty of those you may see in qued missions.

I know that most of the time spent has to be crushing bugs, making lockboxes, and other stuff that makes money to keep the employees employed and keeping the game going. Where there really isn't time to fill in this void of story. So possibly what could be done is giving the foundry the love it needs so that people that would be doing the story driven content like this to be able to review it and possibly be able to maybe make a few tweaks to something and release it/advertise the missions done like this to fill that content void. It would be nice though if we had some foundry specific worlds/starbases/etc that don't exist in the game yet as a hub for these like forcas, borteth, Ty'gokor, etc. The same could be done for the Federation worlds that you can't go too. It really boils down to opening up the game to where if Cryptic can't possibly do every thing that should be done to make this game what it should be that we have a hub for all this missing Trek content where it can be built upon.

Just my 2 cents on the matter and some of the reasons I get frustrated and give up on the foundry because the specifics I would like to do just can't be done yet.

I hazard the guess he wants Klingon Rebels for Federation Characters. You see there is this ONE klingon rebel 'kill' you get when playing the nimbus mission with hazan the undying. And while replaying that mission part one thousand times for the accolade sounds insane, it has been done, by numerous people.

Does that mean you are back on the STO team or was it a cross-project-collaboration?

I too wish to add a thank you!

I'm happy that the Koro'T'inga finally got into the Foundry and now revise the costumes for real D4s. And next I'm hoping for the TOS Romulan Costumes to be added so it will nail the feeling of being a time-period mission. Also noticed one asset that I asked Tacofangs to look into, in adding the ESD railing so I can use it for the D7 Engine room to make the recreation perfect.

    So Kudos! :D

Excellent news! Been hoping for a while that the ship list would get some love. Appricate it!
