Warbird Snagging

hyplhypl Member Posts: 3,719 Arc User
Simply put, when you spawn in a given area near a warbird, there's a chance both ships will drift up or down continuously on a space map. I can only guess that this has something to do with warbird collision boxes and the large wingspan of some ships like the Ha'apax, Mogai or Scimitar.

Is there anything that can something be done about this? I'm pretty tired of getting snagged by warbirds, or snagging other ships myself.

Well the canon explaination would probably be that the singularity core forces the ship into orbit around it, because of a faulty containment field...

    And yes.. you're probably right.
Don't look silly... Don't call it the "Z-Store/Zen Store"...
Let me put the rumors to rest: it's definitely still the C-Store (Cryptic Store) It just takes ZEN.

It seems that this is the result of a technological side-effect of the sharing of information since the peace with the Klingons. It's sort of a coincidence and timing problem... and the lack of testing.

Specifically there were some new warp-field stabilization algorithms that were implemented by the Klingons, and shared and adopted by the Romulans, that were not adequately tested that introduced a low frequency harmonic in the field that is noticed when the ships are near each other. It's like when magnets are near each other with the same polarity on those facings, but pulsating.

Due to the other benefits that the algorithms do introduce, both sides are working a solution to fix it. If they can't, they'll have to down-rev to their original code to remove the new algorithms.

Although there is no ETC at this time, crew counts on the Klingon side have seen a noticeable decline.

Well considering that this has been happening since LoR, apparently not. So just have "fun" with it. :P

Sometimes it can be funny, sometimes it can be annoying.

IMHO, they should have collisions turned off for a few seconds after you finished zoning in. That way collisions wouldn't be an issue.

What *is* annoying is having two scimitars, going opposite directions (more or less) and having the tips of the wings snag, causing the two of you to lock up and dance around on the spot.

Actually, no, that still is amusing when it happens.
