Hi Captains,

We will be bringing down Star Trek Online tonight, Thursday, July 17th, at 10PM PDT (click here to view in your timezone) for emergency scheduled maintenance and to apply a new patch. Patch notes can be found here, and we expect this maintenance to last for 2 hours. The test server, launcher and access to manage your account may also be unavailable during some portions of the maintenance.

Thanks for your patience and understanding,

    Known Issues:
    - There is no Sort or Filter options for Duty Officers.

Umm...well...yeah, we've kind of been saying that.

Thank you for posting this information on the fora.

This is where I, and i believe quite a few others, come for our primary source of information about STO.

It is most satisfying that we are not having to hear about this from an unpaid volunteer or player first.

Yeah. Is this part of Tribble's posts saying that the DOff UI not being final?

THEN WHY DID YOU RELEASE IT!?!

    i blame the upper management/executives.

they probably told them "you will release this today even if it causes tons of crashes and we lose half our userbase because of it." or something similar.
Now clowns, that's another story. They scare the crap out of me.
We fight them too. Entire armies spilling out of Volkswagens.
We do our best to fight them off, but they keep sending them in.

I was hoping for "because of the shear quantity of dung being thrown in our direction over the new doff UI, we are reverting it to pre S9.5" Or maybe, "We're sorry. We released this too early and it's still in beta."

That would most likely cause more harm than good. I don't think you know how the servers really work, you can't just wipe away progress post 9.5 launch.

I'm not having any real problem with the UI, aside from it not yet sorting the DOffs into their departments. And that is, IMO, only a minor hassle.

The not being able to start missions thing is worse, I think, although the workaround is pretty simple - cancel and relaunch the mission, see if it works the second time. (I've only had this bug crop up once, and that was how I took care of it. This may or may not work for you.)

Me, I HATE the new Doff UI. Heck, so does the rest of my fleet, and 99% of the people I've talked to so far.

Otherwise, the launch is going fine. Not too many bugs, a real reason to do the Nukara battlezone, more rewards for NR and Defera...

I like literally EVERYTHING EXCEPT the new DOFF UI, which was clearly an idea born in the deepest fiery pits of Gre'thor.

Again, I'd give this release an 8 out of 10. But that Kahless-forsaken DOFF UI MUST go.

    emergency scheduled maintenance

That is a contradictory in terms. If it is scheduled than it isnt a emergency. If it is an emergency why bother scheduling it?

At any rate. Thank you for not breaking the mail system.....for once.

And also, give us a sort option for our doff missions that are in progress or at least revert back to the old set up where the missions that were closest to completion were on top. Now you have to scroll thru 20 missions to see how much time remains on them.

I double checked and there were issues with the shoulder pads for Klingons concerning hair with other shoulder pads, so I don't think it is anything specific to the Bortasqu shoulder pads.

All of the issues seem minor ( of course I didn't have any problems preventing me from playing, so of course I'd say they are minor). My point is that apparently these issues did not show up on Tribble (as they didn't show up for me) and the emergency maintenance is to allow others to be able to play. When launching new content, one should expect there to be issues throughout the day. Obvioulsy more people need to start playing on Tribble to help find these errors before launch. I don't believe there is anything Cryptic could have done to prevent these errors. None of the errors seem catastrophic. The likely causes (since not everyone experienced them) are because of specific issues with specific accounts. A series of "random" conditions that didn't occur (or were not reported) while people were playing on tribble.

Honeslty, for once I don't think Cryptic should be held responsible. Seems like a series of random conditions that they couldn't know about. Now if it affected half the players, then it would be Cryptic's fault, but anything that doesn't affect a significant portion of players is also something that would be unlikely to be found in playtesting.

So if you really have an issue with emergency maintenance to allow everyone to be able to play, then you and your feet mates should get on tribble and help test the game. Also there are probably people who are staying awake and at work to do the emergency maintenance. They should be thanked.

Scheduled Emergency Maintenance is just synthesizing the strategic direction, dessniper.

I really do feel bad for the community managers. They have to come in and post things like "Corporate says you're having cat TRIBBLE meat loaf substitute for dinner. Thank you for your patience, hope to see you in game soon!"

Ironically I'm probably the only person who likes the new Duty officer UI. Though I do wish there was an option to click to recommend officers (for those times you just want to set up some missions and head to bed) or to unclick it and fill in the spots yourself.

For me personally most of the time the game sets things up sufficiently that it doesn't matter and saves me time. But since a lot of other people seem to not like this, I think having a check box would be a good compromise.

I also have a large computer screen which may influence my like of the U.I. Though I wouldn't mind if I didn't have to scroll, I just don't see that as a big issue as it rarely occurs.

i was only stating a fact of mathematics, i must also point out that the earth rotates 364.25 rotations per orbit around a star, this star burns at about 12.4 million degrees in it's entire thermal output from it's core to the outer surface, and that it is quite capable of radiating the earth in about 4-5 thousand years when the poles have shifted completely off their axis which they in fact will leaving the earth to a fatal does of solar radiation. :(

One of the biggest problems as with every release is stability issues. One of my fleet mates called it a night early yesterday because he got tired of random disconnects and lag.

I tested extensively on Tribble and never had any issues and I think he nailed down why.

There are not as many on Tribble at any given time. Holodeck is the live server and has way more players, which in turn causes stability problems.

I think that would be a guess as to why. But that wouldn't be cryptics fault and blaming them would be in bad taste I believe (if it was due to the number of people playing).

I rarely have any issues at any time though. The only lag I've ever experienced is in the undine battle zone only when everyone playing is in the same location. I've not had any problems today, but I've only gotten to play for about an hour. Anyway my only point is that none of the issues seem significant enough to blame cryptic.

It takes about five minutes to log in and refine dil. Honestly if you are that concerned there is plenty of time to find five minutes to refine it. Might have an issue if you also have to earn the dil. But almost anyone regardless of the situation can refine it within 24 hours.

this is also achieved by filling in 1-2 test boxes, and the use of 4-5 button clicks, it also takes 7 button clicks to fly a jumbo jet now days from take off to full flight
