Emergency R&D Holograms (x18)

So who's bright idea was it to auto assign these to our Doff roster if we have enough room?

Couldn't you have just given them out in the Crafting Tutorial Reward Package that you give to characters with less than 18 open roster slots?

They're trying to get you to pay real world money to unlock more boff slots. They know people are at their boff roster limits already. That's why they upped the cap from 400 to 500 not too long ago.

It's a money-grubbing tactic on their part. There should never have been doffs controlling crafting, EVER. The doff system is so full of TRIBBLE and BS "Cryptic Math (TM, Patent Pending)" that it has no basis in logic. And THIS is what we're going to rely on for our hard-HARD-earned efforts?

    No, thank you.

Cryptic are so detached from this game and the player base they don't know what the heck they're doing.

?? The box of 18 doffs is a free starter pack for people with no doffs. If already have plenty of green or better you do not need the commons in the pack. Now try to explain your money grabbing nonsense again? I think your tinfoil hat is cutting off the circulation.

The R&D Holograms are intended to give newer players the necessary Doffs to participate in the entirety of the R&D System. They cannot be sent on Assignments, and cannot be donated to Fleet Projects.

If you already have a strong enough Roster to manage the R&D system without them, please feel free to delete their programs from your ship's database. They are non-sentient holograms, and won't feel bad about the transition into nothingness.

No, it's a starter pack for people of a certain R&D rank. The boffs are specifically meant to be used for the crafting system which now relies on the buggy, broken, and illogical math of the doff mission system (yay...). These doffs you would normally need to grind out of the crafting system to then proceed to new levels of grind using the very doffs you ground out.

    Iterative grinding.

They know most people are already maxed out on doffs. They give them new doffs required to craft but know most will have to pay to unlock more doff slots for them.

It's very clear logic. We know A is true, and we know A leads to B. So when we see B is true after we already saw A is true, we induce A led to B through causality.

The entire R&D change is a penny pinch move. Not to improve crafting. If it were an improvement it wouldn't cost tons more and be time gated, require you to expend resources to stockpile doffs that are the limiting factor on the final product. This is one of the worst designed crafting systems of any game I've ever seen. Random results and months of grind. It's a money grubbing move, nothing else.

On my one KDF character, I had the package, since I have less than 18 slots open on him.

You get the started pack at lvl 15, not R&D level 15 just plain old i just started playing 10 mins ago lvl 15.

The doffs are not required for ANYTHING! They are plain old common doff of types you already have. Most players with a doff roster over 20 will just delete the starter doff pack. Why the need to spread misinformation?

Normal doffs that you already have in your maxed-out roster work better than the white Emergency Trash Doff Holograms. The only special doffs you need are the ones for the special top-shelf equipment (wide-angle beams and DHCs, TR-116B, Aegis, etc.), which the starter pack doesn't give you.

And, to be honest, you don't really use most of your 400 doffs anyway, so swapping out one purple assault squad officer for a slightly different one... doesn't really matter.

my beef with them is they auto assigned them. I don't need them, don't want them. leave them in a box and tell folks whats in said box, don't clutter my roster with TRIBBLE I'm going to have to click 36 times to get rid of.
Next time you log in, ask yourself this.

I understand what your intention behind handing out these Doffs was. What I am saying is why couldn't you just give every player a box of Doffs that they can choose to either open or delete?

As it stands now, any of my characters with 18 or more open slots on my Doffs roster is automatically having 18 low quality Doffs that are pretty much useless to me placed into those slots forcing me to go through my Doff roster manually deleting them one by one.

Had you just given everyone the box in the first place I could delete it, like I have on all my characters that were lucky enough to have full rosters.

Any chance you could make the R&D doff pack reclaimable in the academy (like through Lieutenant Ferra or the Personal Officer at SFA)? I have an alt character that I don't immediately need the R&D doffs (and would like to dismiss them at this time) but I'd like to reclaim them later for when I am ready to use the R&D system on that character.

You amuse me, these are only needed for unique items, all other ones take normal DOFFs (beams uses energy weps officers)

    False.

You are thinking of "School Specialists" which are not given out free, are far more rare, and are needed for the unique recipes that unlock at Crafting Level 15 within each school.

The Emergency R&D Holograms are solely there to allow you to craft. If you have existing/better Doffs that fulfill that role, you don't need these ones.

** EDIT: Wait, I may've mis-read, and you were correcting the guy you quoted. I apologize if I got that wrong.
