My suggestion to make the Cargo ships in sector space (Both NPC space vendors and player ship bridge variety ) more useful, and by extention the commodities brokers, Is to add Limited supplies of the new crafting materials to their inventory
This might help players to top up on a few of the rarer items and make these ships more useful to the player. ( We all find it frustrating when you are only one short of an item that requires a stack of that item)
Perhaps even have a limited stock of components ( Specifically industrial replicator supplies) for sale by these merchants
If perhaps the option of buying these is somehow considered to break a planed curve of drop rates, How about making these cargo ships a limited exchange access window, that is restricted to showing only the Crafting items on the exchange ?
( A side note, I'd just like to say that I really like the crafting materials being actual Materials now, rather than a generic data sample)
These are the Voyages on the STO forum, the final frontier. Our continuing mission: to explore Pretentious Posts, to seek out new Overreactions and Misinformation , to boldly experience Cynicism like no man has before.......
Something to give those merchants more use would be awesome - and I see where it could work into materials for sale/trade of on the exchange. I like...:)
I'd gladly give up my tuffli with all of its (now probably going to be useless) cluster warps, throw in my transwarp, slipstream, and space folding abilities just to be able to make di/rp and antimatter containment permanent on my fleet regent.
I hate gimmicky travel but i love increasing raw sector space warp speed
I would make all of the trade ships/cargo vessels generate crafting materials at a random rate while in exploration clusters. Sort of like Orion Slavers. Maybe with a daily cap of their own based on EC value. I would also give a small EC dividend when inviting others to the bridge to use freighter brokers and an additional freighter hold of 120 inventory slots
