Plasma Infused Threat Scaling Science Consoles

(If this in the wrong place, sorry!)

So, I've been looking at some of these Threat Scaling consoles and been trying to get some information on them.

On the STO wiki it says that the shield and hull regen consoles don't stack so fine, I buy a hull one and a shield regen one but I've got two more science consoles to fill on my science ship so I've looked at the plasma infused ones but it doesn't say on the wiki if it stacks or not.

I'd hazard a guess they probably don't stack but would like to make sure. If they DO stack, great I'll get two, but if they don't I'd still get just the one but I'd need to eventually replace my Mk XII very rare graviton generator.

Thanks! :)

It's not so much that the [Hull] and [Shield] consoles don't stack as it is that multiple copies will still be on the same internal cooldown. Having multiple [Hull] or [Shield] consoles will increase the likelihood that the effect activates, but once activated it doesn't matter how many you have, it can't happen again for a fixed amount of time. It's generally not worth increasing the activation chance against the required downtime, so it's easier to say they don't stack.

[Pla] consoles do stack for the purposes of increasing plasma energy damage, not so sure about the non-plasma weapons as it basically gives them the plasma proc rather than increasing their damage.

The universe has a wonderful sense of humor. The trick is learning how to take a joke.

The DoT from the [Pla] consoles do indeed stack on non-plasma energy weapons. I'm currently running 3 of them with elachi crescent weaponry. Works very well.

The dps from an extra burn isn't a lot. And stack limit remains the same, you can max out your stack that way, resulting in no new ones added. It doesn't outdps 1.x% crit chance from an universal console to warrant multiple [pla] consoles on a nonplasma builds.

On plasma builds, each one is a third of a tac console, which is far more dps than an extra plasma burn proc. Together with increased flow capacitor for plasmonic leech, it ends up adding far more dps than 1.x% crit chance from a universal console that it replaces.

It does, though, if you're maximizing your flowcaps - which i am - and i find the extra power gained (and the 3 procs) to be more practical than nearly all the universal consoles out there. I'd rather have my weapon power at (on average) while firing than have a couple extra +% crit chance. Anyhows, it works for me at least.

Thanks for the replies! I'll keep both a single [Shield] and [Hull] threat console but to be honest not sure I've noticed the heals from them!

I'll probably get at least one [Pla] console to replace my Particle Generator. Can only get a Mk X Ultra Rare one from our fleet but it's not that much lower than a Mk XII Very Rare Particle Generator that I have already (+28.1 on Mk X Ultra Rare vs +30 on Mk XII Very Rare). Will definitely upgrade to Mk XII Ultra Rare one day!

I'm using Mk XII Protonic Polaron beams on my science ship so even a little extra damage from the plasma burn seems useful though will hardly be noticeable but all adds up.

    Cheers!

Better still, get the Mk XII today. Use the NoP public service channel and find an invite to a Tier 3 embassy, shouldn't take too long to find one.

Thanks for the heads up syndonai, didn't know you could get invites to other peoples facilities.

Is the channel just called "NoP"? I can see one with that name but no idea if it's the right one!

Just to clarify: They stack for plasma-dmg just as any Tactical console would. For any non-plasma they still increase the proc (if you go more than one) and thechance. The different chances are not added though, but measured with stochastic means. So 4 consoles dont result in 10%, but in 1-(1-0.025)^4 chance for each hit.

Seems low (though remember: one shot, you shoot thousand times in an stf), but I did some testing with my Recluse, it still had plasma tactical consoles though (since normally it flies with Rompla), but I used the Disruptor beams MK X from the ships you get on kdf-side. Was surprised I only lost around a quarter of my normal pug-DPS, but the most surprising part were the 2,5k dps from 4 consoles. Though only a seventh part of my dps in that encounter it was pretty high. But of course you get more out of them with plasma-based Weaponry.

P.S.: I wonder how many just used a calculator...
