I was watching this original minecraft video and it got me thinking about how the Ferengi run their financial empire...

How do the Ferengi run their trading/auction operations? You don't suppose there's tons of latinum on a table when they bid on an item, right? :)

And I'm stilll reminded of the Ferengi who wanted to buy a giant Sphere...

The Ferengi have advanced banking systems and write checks when dealing in amounts too large to personally carry around, just like the rest of us. If a Ferengi bounces a check, then he suffers the same penalties that any Ferengi does when getting into debt over his head (i.e. his assets are seized by the Liquidators and sold to pay the debts).

Like nowadays ones. Just more high-tech.

I always got the impression that, due to its cumbersome nature, gold-pressed latinum was only carried around frontiers and borders: places that would need physical currency for exchange. (Or possibly due to under-the-table transactions that were less likely to be traced) Otherwise, transactions would be done with a thumbprint scan.

That said, I'd guess Ferengi would carry around a few slips to bribe the household idol.

Maybe they traded using actual items back in the day before the discovery of replicator technology. I'm pretty sure their bidding would've gone as it does in the video with one exception....

The person selling the item wouldn't have said anything about having more stuff in the back...

As it's a Minecraft video (and not a STAR TREK one), only Minecraft players would know the value of things such those blue blocks, blue pickaxes, and TNT. :)
