New Griefing: Undine Inflitration, Cover shields to prevent you from completing

Sadly I got caught by this a-hole.
He lured us into the holodeck first, catching 3 of us behind the cover shield. "There this great new content in here".
I should have known better.
Some time later we're auto-transported to the tunnels. At the last junction, up come the cover shield over the the entrance.
14 minutes later, he gets bored of himself and leaves.
Thankfully 1 guy remained after waiting for the griefers to leave.
We finished - nuff said. Have a video of the incident if any devs care ;(

Not sure if the team is working on it, but needless to say this might lead to a serious CS nerf.
Or make it expire and vanish after 30 seconds or so. There's no need for it to last 5 minutes, if you're using it in combat you'll have long since moved on.
Making it shootable by everyone would certainly make things more interesting.
This would severely undermine its functionality, namely, for you to cower behind it while your abilities recharge so you can fight again. If it simply WENT AWAY in a few seconds without your enemy having to DO anything, it would be sort of useless as a mobile fortification.
Too bad I didn't see this before hand... I bit the bullet and took the leaver penalty...
It is really is horrible that people get the jollies off by doing things like this.
The problem is, I too can make a character named xtern1ty and implicate them into behaviour with a slideshow video.
This is why we don't name and shame.

Exactly. This video could be nothing more than a smear campaign by someone with a grudge. We cannot simply jump to conclusions without all the evidence.
Mighty dedicated smear campaign, that's all I'm sayin'...
1. Rename engineering character
2. Create similar costume to your target
3. Join public queues with an accomplice to record video.
Those three steps right there are a good reason why naming and shaming are against the rules.
A smear campaign can be put together in a very short time. The video evidence is suspect at best.
Considering who the person in question works with..not really a smear campaign..
Kind of ****ing stupid to do that and defeats the purpose of Cover Shield to provide some sort of hard cover when everything out there is hitting it, esp. players with their multitude of AOE attacks.
And 30 seconds is far too short considering how long the recharge is for Cover Shield.
Terrible, terrible idea.
This isn't a solution at all, now the shield user will be griefed so you can have "jumping fun", how is that desirable?
The cover shield should have no collision for allies. Not even because of the ability to grief with it, but because I've accidentally trapped teammates I was trying to protect in it. It's just a poorly designed ability.
Perhaps change it to be similar to Force Field Dome; give a resistance buff to you and allies on one side of it? Make it a little larger so that it can protect more than one or two people huddled behind it?
With all the intentional and accidental issues that crop up from Cover Shield, I think it needs to be "remastered".
Of course you think that. Whenever the fleet in question is mentioned, there's Ashkrik pointing his furry finger and engaging in the smear campaign. :rolleyes:
I did not name the individual in the post here as it is a violation of the terms of service. What I post elsewhere, and how I post elsewhere cannot be covered in this sites EUA.
Anyways, I did nothing to shame anyone. The video, and the actions of that individual speaks for itself. While someone could appear to be someone else (flawed idea), my ingame report shows the @______ for the person, timestamped.
As for Cryptic following up, I got more than the usual auto reply to the GM report this morning.

As for dealing with these people, quietly just wait them out. They feel empowered when you express anything in game, and get bored very quickly if you don't respond.
1. Zorep (as a fed toon) has been seen wearing items from the KDF faction, such as the KHG cape as well as outfits that aren't available to players at all. I have also heard (unconfirmed) that he is able to change his character's gender. This is clearly an exploit and he is clearly not someone who cares about the rules and strikes me as someone who would do this or at least support it.
2. If you pop a cover shield to prevent the team from completing the mission, you are an jerk. I don't care who you are, you ARE an jerk.
3. These trolls don't care, they are in it for the lulz. Your misery is their enjoyment, so if there is legit evidence showing that they are doing something like this, and you don't report them, you are doing it wrong.
And here comes the loyal defenders or people who see the fleet in question as not what they truly are. :rolleyes:
