Beam Overload Question for Ship Build

On an escort where I had three cannons up front with one dual beam, and in the back I had KCB, omni directional antiproton beam array, and the experimental proton beam array, would it be possible that beam overload might affect KCB, omni directional antiproton beam array, or the experimental proton beam array, and as such, do nothing for the dual beam in front?

What I'm getting at is, in order to ensure the dual beam is boosted from Beam Overload, would it be best to use something else in the aft weapon slots that is not a beam array of some sort... like say turrets?

Omni will always have a chance to fire as its 360. The activation affects all beams but triggers on whoever is first ready to fire

The proton/omni will steal the trigger when firing from your aft

I'd axe the dual beam and swap in a cannon. I assume your using the 2p antiproton.

    Cheers

Yes, all the Omni-beam, DBB and the Experimental Proton weapon can use Overload. Therefore it's only a matter which happens to be the first one to fire. The Omni-beam, being a 360 degree weapon, has a big chance of consuming it. The other two can be kinda controlled by having (or not) the target in their arc.

If you want the Omni-beam for 10% AP bonus and do want to use Overload, consider whether the Omni beam wouldn't suffice, ditching the DBB. If you specifically want a bigger spike, either you'll have to activate individual weapons manually or ditch the Omni-beam.

Keeping the Exp. weapon aft (and having your target in your front arc) ensures it won't consume the Overload (if you really need the Exp. weapon for some reason - the crit bonuses, I guess?).

The Kinetic Cutting beam isn't enhanced by beam or cannon abilities. It's completely independant in that sense.
TOIVA, Toi Vaxx, Toia Vix, Toveg, T'vritha, To Vrax: Bring in the Allegiance class.
Toi'Va, Ti'vath, Toivia, Ty'Vris, Tia Vex, Toi'Virth: Add Tier 6 KDF Carrier and Raider.
    Tae'Va, T'Vaya, To'Var, Tevra, T'Vira, To'Vrak: Give us Asylums for Romulans.

Don't make ARC mandatory! Keep it optional only!

Yep, I am using the 2p antiproton.
I have 3 ships. The Fleet Avenger, the Fleet Chimera, and the Fleet Patrol Escort Refit (FPER). All of them are, A2B, FAW beam boats, because when I discovered A2B, FAW, and enjoyed tremendous success at going from 2K DPS to 10-13k DPS (Conduit on elite) in the Fleet Avenger, I replicated the build on all my ships. (The Chimera is the lowest performer of the lot, but the Fleet Patrol Escort Refit is a DPS beast. I really hate saying it but it's OP... and I love it!)

But, I'm tired of being a one trick pony. It's time to experiment with a cannon build. I intend on sticking with the A2B for a while yet. Until I become skilled enough to try a non-A2B build.
I'm thinking of putting this cannon build on my FPER because it has the highest turn rate of my three ships. I was thinking of putting the dual beam on it for PvP. We do in-house PvP in our fleet.

Thanks for the info about the Omni Directional and Beam Overload. I have some thinking to do.

Yep, I was thinking Crits because my main goal is to create a build for the in-house PvP we do. Thanks for the info on the beam overload.

It is possible to run a DBB and the omni and still do your DBB overloads, you just need to be careful. Instead of hitting the BO button and then smashing Fire all Weapons, click the DBB button on the weapons tray to be sure it fires and not the omni.

The KCB is not at all affected.

Simple yet brilliant. I'm a little embarrassed I hadn't thought to do that. Apparently, I've allowed myself to become overly dependent on my current key binds.
    Thanks!

There are some builds where I like to fly with DHCs+DBB. The DBB gets the benefit of a Beam Overload 3 or something. I remember doing this a month or two ago for an AP build which included the Obelisk Core & Omnidirectional AP Beam Array. But that venture ended quickly for AP weapons using these 2 items and Beam Overloads.

The issue is that the pansy Omnidirectional Array will want to use beam abilities also. To my horror, I see this array using the Beam Overload instead of the Dual Beam Bank. Unless I deactivate the Omni for autofire or do a lot more manual actions just to properly fire off a Beam Overload, the Omni in the setup I was looking for is an absolute waste.

As for the other tricks to get it usable for the DBB, I'll have to look into it later.
