I got the LTS at a time when the game was new to me and there was this felling of never ending things to do. 6 months later and S9 has left me with a bad case of ground hog day.
I still can't believe what they did with the reputation traits... there was no point.
You fix that by making the cap the current max not TRIBBLE your long time players.
The dil grind was fun for about 2 weeks. Now I just can't do that anymore or drop another grand on this (yes its all disposable income). I no longer like FTP. The model seems to be more about quantity over quality around a solid user base.
Hats off to all who have stood by this game since beta. I wish I had your conviction.
If you are becoming tired of the game, you may have overplayed it. Take a break, get some space away. When you come back, you should find the will to enjoy it more, especially if its during the summer event or new updates.
If you intend to stick around though and not take a break, perhaps try foundry missions. There are some amazing missions out there that go beyond anything Cryptic has done up to this point.
You can get a nice chunk of dilithium and drops just by playing a unique story.

The most consistent advice I give anyone in any online game is as follows: Don't even consider spending a penny until you've played for 6 months or more and know what you're up against.
And you, sir, are a shining example of why I say that.
I'll admit, I've grown bored of the game quite quick since S9 was released, more so quicker than I did when S8 was released, and even quicker still since S7. S8 wasn't much in the way of content, S9 was even less (some would say copy, edit slightly, and paste). I can only pray that the reason for this is some big new expansion that truly deserves some respect and recognition. That and S10.
If you're bored, do what I do; jump on once every few days to run your doff assignments and/or a few STFs (if nothing else, it'll slowly grant you marks and dilithium for later use). Don't overplay the game on a daily basis if you're not currently enjoying it, you wont do yourself no favors, and you'll grow bored of newer content quicker.
I got my LTS during launch , the game it's self hasn't ever been able to keep my interest for more then a couple of months at a time, but It is very nice to come back every few months and not worry about needing zen for ships, keys, etc. - I usually come back to it 3-4 times per year.
I tend to burn out on games rather quickly, Titanfall kept my interest for 3 weeks - great fun, killed alot of people, ran out of things to do. I'm always moving from one game to another to another, but STO is always there for me to fall back on.
Right now I am working things in EvE, it's a-lot different then most MMO's, I usually only log in a once every couple days to set up my skill training, and then I do faction warfare once a week with a corp I found. if I want to spend more time in game, I'll go ratting or scanning down sites. If you would like a key for an extra week of trial send me a P.M. - if you sub, I'll split the sale of the plex I get 50/50 with you. It's a decent break for the times you are burned out here.

in my case i add an extra 12 months at least and watch the direction that the devs take and how they handle their actions. for example, sto devs like the overbuff things and powercreep things, but nerf quality of life stuff. where as the likes of WoT devs like to nerf and buff equally but have an inclined bias towards russian tanks because of their background so these are slightly more favored.
with the former i got lts because it was on sale during LoR and because the direction and by then i have around 2 years worth of time including some sub time pre-f2p and at the time for sto was good even if some of the choice elsewhere were poor, if instead i went with subbing i would of ended that about half a year ago due to the shift in dev planning on nonsensical plot lines and this reputation thing. with the latter however i only managed to put away a months worth of sub on it after a years worth of play and the direction seemed solid enough, but recent choices in their desired path meant long term subbing was impossible. il throw swtor into the mix as well, i can put away some sub months with non-recurring 2 months at a time because the general direction of the game is very much solid however some of eawares actions on the game has been puzzling to really horrible, but then again what mmo doesnt have its pluses and minuses?
T6 Miranda Hero Ship FTW. Been around since Dec 2010 on STO and bought LTS in Apr 2013 for STO.
If you are becoming tired of the game, it's because Cryptic - which was once a great developer that made the fantastic "City of Heros," is now incapable of even wiping themselves without making a mess, and thus STO is horrible.
Fixed that for you.
The real point is that there is nothing - NOTHING - that feels new or different to make long-time players WANT to play.
Season 9? Reskinned Warzone and STFs that are embarrassingly similar to other STFs we've been bored with for a couple of years.
Season 8.5? Do I even need to start?
Season 8? Dinosaurs with lasers on their heads - because OBVIOUSLY we're all five years old and think that kind of thing is "cool." Seriously, the VOTH, who appeared in a single episode of Voyager and didn't display the kind of hostility toward everything that moved the way the STO Voth do. No. They just wanted to keep their culture secure by not allowing heresy. But I guess nobody at Cryptic actually paid attention to what went on in the episode.
The game, frankly, sucks for people who have been here for a long time - because Cryptic hasn't made it worth coming back to.
Maybe you like doing exactly the same thing over and over again, with no change and no challenge.
Some of us, however, enjoy doing something truly, uniquely new. Cryptic can't do that for us. So we get tired of the game.
Oh, and, of course, they break more than they fix when they release a patch and there are bugs that STILL exist from Beta. Because Cryptic.

I got my LTS a little over 4 years ago, back when you had to pay to play the game. i dont know if thats when he got it, but back then, you had to at LEAST pay for 6 months in order to play for 6 months >>
so i guess, that rule only applies to F2P from the start games.
I've been around since the beta days and the game has improved and added a lot of things IMHO. I feel bad for the devs because they have made this things and I'm sure put a lot of effort into them, but the lingering bugs that are in players' faces seem to be their Achilles' heel and the cause of a lot of grieving and rage-quitting by the player base.
so i guess, that rule only applies to F2P from the start games.
It only applies to games that are F2P when the person being advised started playing. The game was F2P when the OP started, just like it was when I started. This isn't rocket science.
It's the people, not the content that keeps me around. I already have all of the stuff that I need to be content with gear, although it does lead to boredom sometimes.
Nitpicking is a time-honored tradition of science fiction. Asking your readers not to worry about the "little things" is like asking a dog not to sniff at people's crotches. If there's something that appears to violate natural laws, then you can expect someone's going to point it out. That's just the way things are.
Considering I've played a lot since beta. I started playing a lot less with S8 and have hardly played at all thanks to S9. To me that just clearly shows how good the last 2 seasons have been. What's next? Summer event *yawn* zzzzz
I think season 8 was just awful story wise and the decision makers on it need to be taking out put in stocks for the community to throw rotten tomatoes at. Add the countless grinds. I some how think dev meetings go like this
hey guys I have a terrible story idea we just need a grind to go with it. It has to be fun like watching paint dry. Oh and i think we need another new event .... Sorry I mean grind, so people will login ever day just to guess where little Q is hiding lol genius! Why didn't we think of this all before!
Season 10 esd will get reworked and there will be a newer fed tutorial because there isn't enough new fed players buying gamble box keys Arrrgh what a nightmare!
Well with all the crappy rep traits revamp, I'm pretty much officially on vacation from STO since there is nothing I want from the undine rep. As for LTS, it worths every penny imo. You're getting free zens and perks. The investment is recouped with free zens. Hence, there is no complain there! Now, I'm just w8ing for summer event.
I prefer the Undine to Dinosaurs with Freakin' Lasers (TM). However, I feel there was a missed opportunity here. I liked Voyager's 2nd episode with Species 8472 more than the 1st. The aliens were more fleshed-out / real with many motivations (fears, hates and loves) rather than the first ... where they are shown as more evil than evil (Borg). So cartoonish!
I would have preferred a more Trek-Llke A story arc where you initially fight the Undine and then through some act of sacrifice convince them to make peace. Eventually they become an ally against the common foe ... i.e. Iconians.
I felt they didn't exploit New Romulus either ... and the Tholians are begging for more plot. So many loose threads ... so little focus.
