When I first read the dip/marauding cap bonus of being able to recruit a member of the opposing faction, I got all excited and spent a couple months getting boffs I later learned I could not use. ok, my bad, I got it. I should have read the fine print. Still, I'd like to see the ability to get any boff from opposing faction(s).
now that I've got a few months more of play under my belt, it seems strange to me that the (limited) recruitment comes from diplomacy/marauding. Wouldn't it make more sense if a special recruitment ability came from the recruitment ladder? yes, I know it takes longer to cap out recruitment, but that's kind of the point--but when it IS capped out, you should be able to slot any boffs--finishing this ladder should unlock faction specific Cstore races as well, allowing me to get that human Borg to add to my all borg crew....
Diplomacy/marauding meanwhile unlocks space zones when you hit tier 3, why not have tier 4 unlock faction specific ground zones?
and I still think the other cxp ladders should cap out with other non-doff bonuses, such as military giving a slight dmg bonus, espionage giving a stealth bonus, etc.
General recruitment is fine for recruiting within your own faction. However, if you want to recruit a Doff from the opposing faction, then you need to need to rely on Diplomacy.

I get opposing faction Doffs by doing the "Instigate Defection" mission in the espionage section under military.
My KDF toon has been pretty much successful recruiting traitors, but my not Fed toon which was my 1st toon, yet I recruited few traitors.
I believe my KDF toon have the following traitors:
4 Farengis - 2 Security and 2 Traders. Both are clones of each other.
2 Humans - Can't remember
2 Tellarite - Can't remember
1 Risan - Science of some sort.
I believe I have a few more, but I can't remember.
Einstein made a very good statement about doing things again and expecting different results. Just sayin'...
That quote is a joke, the point of it is that "doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results" is the definition of the scientific method. It just seems crazy on the surface.
Also, it would be nice if you could unlock rare BOFF recruitment missions for the other faction's BOFF types at tier 5 diplomacy/marauding.
Unfortunately for the moment the commendation level maxes out at level 4 once you reach 100,000 CXP for each commendation. Though you continue to earn CXP to a max of 150,000 CXP.

Agreed.
It would probably take a lot of work to get the first idea implemented just due to how the game architecture is set up. The third one (ground zones) would be easier but would still require effort to convert the faction maps into all-maps, and would still depend on what Cryptic wants to do with the peace accord storyline. The last point would be the easiest to implement as they would only need to add some small stat bonuses as an unlock.
Nitpicking is a time-honored tradition of science fiction. Asking your readers not to worry about the "little things" is like asking a dog not to sniff at people's crotches. If there's something that appears to violate natural laws, then you can expect someone's going to point it out. That's just the way things are.
I'm willing to pay for the off faction boff in the C-store, but I can't because it's the wrong faction.
have been thinking about doing an old lady with cats alt, but with the current system, I can't get both Ferasan and Caitian boffs for her away team.....

Maybe level 5 is in the works, maybe not.
Hmm, interesting concept, especially with the new peace accord (well okay it's a temporary cease fire, but still).
No. You go pay for it like everyone else.
Also an interesting concept.
Agreed.
