What ship should I get?

I am able to spend 2000 zen on things, I want a new ship. I am currently running with the obelisk carrier.

I've always wanted the Galaxy-X Dreadnaught, but I also want the Odyssey class. Which one should I get or what do you suggest more?
Veteran of STO, had it for 5 years. Unfortunately, my Original account is gone.

    go with what you prefer.

    do you like having pets? and having a free ubercannon(not actually uber but oh well) get the dread, do you like tanking mostly and doesn't want to bother with having to get a fleet version for the 10 consoles version/extra +10% shield/hull, get the odyssey(get the tac one if you decide on it).

    to be honest, on a pure utility standpoint, i would recomend getting the avenger if you don't have one(yeah its kinda ugly, but its good so...)

    I'll side with this, I have the Oddy, the Gal-X and the Avenger, and I have to say if I could only buy one, I'd pick the Avenger.

    Odyssey and Gal-X both, its worth being patient and saving for the bundles and the next sale.

    I do not like the look of the avenger. I am looking for a ship that can take a good beating and dish out a lot of DPS. But I am not too good with builds... I don't want an ugly ship. That's why I hated the sovereign class. And I love pets, my obelisk swarmers are plenty fun.

    Avenger is out of the question, don't care how good it is, I want a good looking ship that takes and dishes out dmg.

    If I may...the Odyssey is the flag ship of the Federation with the best looking Bridge in my opinion to boot. If you can't get the bundle get the Operations or Science one. The Operations comes with Chevron Seperation and the Science one has Worker Bees and Sensor Analysis.

    My only ship I use has always been and always will be my Science Oddy the U.S.S. Liberty. I also have the Fleet Avenger but like my Oddy better.

    Agreed. If you can only get just one, I would recommend the Avenger. It's a very versatile design, FAW boat to tank-scort, properly kitted, this ship can do it all. :D

    I do like the galaxy dreadnaught because it has hangers for pets. On my obelisk carrier my swarmers give hell to the enemies. Can the Galaxy X equip the swarmers?

    If you got your swarmers from a Spire, then yes. The swarmers from the episode are Obelisk only.

    Yes it can. I have advanced swarmers on my Gal X. Pesky little buggers! :D

    Oh, they were from episode... I am getting a bit bored with my carrier, primarily because its lack of weapon slots. the only thing that makes up for it is the swarmers. If I do decide to get the Galaxy X what are some great damage dishing pets?

    Elite scorpions still deal good dps, but the problem is trying to use them against Voth or Undine. They're too fragile and the high yield torps they shoot will just be shot down by all the spam. They're good for other content like STFs and the like, but not against Voth or Undine.

    Personally I use Yellowstones. They aren't high damage, but they harass the hell out of whatever I'm fighting. Tractor beam and warp plasma spam keeps things locked down very nicely. Plus they're tough enough to survive against Voth and Undine.

    Actually I purchased mine at a fleet spire. Those can be equipped on anything.

    Lets get to the main thing about this thread. What ship should I get that has hangers, can take a beating and dish out a lot.

    If you're willing to get lockbox/lobi ships, then the JHDC and the Recluse both fit the bill there. Both can take damage, dish the damage out in plenty, and both have 2 hangar bays. I don't have a Recluse, but I do have a JHDC. That thing is a monster.

    I'd save up to get a better pet. I happen to have perigrines, danubes, swarmers, and delta fliers , and I've found I prefer the Adv Danubes with it. they are more survivable than the others and still pack a bit of a punch. And you only have the one hangar unlike on the Obelisk

    If you have access to a fleet with a T5 comm array you could get the Yellowstones

    well, you can also get the assault cruiser refit, then buy the fleet version, its basically the avenger, except you get the sovereign skin which is vastly better than the avenger(imperial fleet skin looks good too, if you like the more martial look).

    Can you purchase Lobi crystals by any chance? And how is the new undine ship? And what about the tholian recluse carrier?

    You can only 'purchase' lobi by buying lockbox keys. With an average of ~5 per box, that makes a lobi ship cost $160 or 400 million ec in keys (though you'd get a lot of other stuff as well). Easier to just save up 90 million EC and buy the ship off the exchange outright.

    Or to do the math, you could buy less than a third of that $160 worth in master keys and sell them on the exchange to make enough to buy the ship. lol

    The best ships that have pets are the armitage, galaxy dreadnaught and vesta. I love my armitage and vesta. But since you asked about galaxy vs odyssey I would totally go galaxy. Original enterprise d is still the best looking ship IMO. Both the oddy and the avenger are really ugly. Unless you mainly pvp, it ultimately doesn't matter. Get what you like.

    Well, if you wanna be able to take a beating and dish it right back out, then really either ship will work for you. Tac odyssey would give the most damage of the 3, but the sci or eng one will tank more, and the dreadnaught is real tanky with the saucer sep and antimatter spread set. I switch between both the eng odyssey and galaxy retro, and both get me about the same results. I would suggest going with the eng odyssey with both Chev sep and Aquarius to get some added damage if you go that way, or grabbing up some decent hangar pets if you go for the dread. The avenger doesn't tank. At all. Its just a glorified escort that was mis-named.

    If you are looking at the Recluse you might as well consider the Atrox carrier. Personally, i like it very much (already looking firward to the day my fleet reaches T3 Spire so i can finally fleet it ;) ).
    The Atrox can take a huge beating and has 2 hangars, although it has to be noted that most of the DPS is provided by Pets and therefore having good (=expensive) pets is pretty much a need.
