weapons stop fireing/randomly un-target enemies

imadude3imadude3 Member Posts: 825 Arc User
a fleetie complains about his weapons keep stop fireing for no reason, and his ship will keep untargeting targets at random too.
that's all he's got, he says his weapons power never goes low enough to cut off his attack.
it seems to happen in any ship he flies.
any help? this is a pretty serious issue in PvP

I've noticed my character losing its target in ground missions constantly. In space I haven't but I'll have to watch now. I have noticed tab targeting has become a bit of a pain though. I have seen beams missing a lot more than they did, I wonder if they changed hit rates? I cannot recall seeing any beams shooting off into nothing, except at the very end of "Assimilation" mission.

Yeah, I noticed to too (a lot) in space combat.

I also sometimes have an issue when trying to disengage Full Impulse. I engage full impulse to close the distance between me and my target. I attempt to disengage when I am about 10.5km away so I coast in and start firing away. However, while the exhaust trailing effect disappears I am still travelling at full impulse. By the time I realized I was still traveling at full impulse / stop myself, I have flown over 5km past my target.

If it is a PvP thing, it could be the Tal'Shiar Assimilated ships' special ability. It makes you do that.

Actually, I've noticed it somewhat recently.

I, too, thought I'd been accidentally clicking away.

Thing is, all I've done recently has been the Undine space zone, no PvP at all.

It happens to me in PvE, I don't do PvP.

Oh. Then I don't know what it could be other than a bug or the Devs giving the Tal'Shiar ability to NPCs.

Yeah, some enemies have a sensor jam ability that causes you to be temporarily unable to target that ship. If you're firing at them you'll auto target another nearby enemy.

Some of the Borg Unimatrixes do it too. when they do it you'll see the ship fire a blue thing at you that looks like a torpedo, but when it hits your ship your target locks get messed up.

nah, this ain't the sensor jamming, this happens to me too sometimes, for who knows how long, i always thought it was lag or something, or maybe yet another bug, another similar issue is when only 1 or 2 weapons fire, and all others refuse to for a little bit due to some foul sorcery or something.

Sometimes your weapons are still firing, but there is so much stuff on the screen that the visual effect doesn't show. Check to see if your weapon icons are cycling, energy draining, or damage still ticking off. I've seen this a lot lately in instances that have a lot of active visual stuff going on, like the CE or the Undine Battlezone. Not sure if they made adjustments to the graphics in general with S9's launch, or if its just the sheer amount of graphical things in that area.

I have had this happen, started a bit before season 9 and only one or two weapons will fire with VERY little damage (single to lower double digit range with full weapon power).
Playing the mission "Starbase 24" was where I first noticed it as I could not kill anything even after extended period of fire on one ship, when in proximity of the massive spawn of ships.

The disappearing visuals due to weapon spam is a maybe a variation of the same issue and yet just as annoying and frustrating.

I've experience both. I think they both have the same cause: somethings just getting so overloaded that it's dropping or forgetting or skipping or not prioritizing weapons firing correctly.

Edit to add: Full impulse button, I thought I was the only one with this problem. At least I'm not imagining it.

Yep, this happens to me, and several of my fleetmates often. There seems to be no reason, or obvious trigger for it. When this happens, or any of the other numerous bugs that have been around for a while we usually say "Welcome to BETA!"

^It has been happening in space for a while now, you also lose shield display yet you still do damage, but you can't see what you are firing at. This happens most in big battle maps like Crystalline Entity Elite or Starbase 24.

I can confirm this problem, exactly while playing CE queue, my weapons visual effects dissapeared along with the shield displays on my ship model, but not on the HUD

ok, so im posting this just for the sake of the sensor jamming and visual effects suggestion: we tested this in a pvp match after i made this thread. we lined up next to eachother and i just had to sit still and heal while he just had to fire his weapons with and without any buffs on them, and the results were as i said in my OP, his weapons would randomly stop fireing (yes, he's got them on autofire) and his ship would stop targeting me randomly

I would just like to add that it is not a PvP thing as I never do that but I have had the problem doing the Nakura rep. I also don't think it is related to the shield visuals either as I haven't had that problem.

I first noticed it after the S9 launch and thought it was just me as they had changed the trait system and I thought I hadn't slotted something properly so my accuracy trait was messed up or nerf'd but then noticed that when trying to target lock it wouldn't do anything at all.

Could it be that the Undine psi attack has somehow been over laid to all targets as it does seem to be some sort of confuse/placate attack that has been mistakenly given to anything classed as a player target?

Not seen the targeting issue, but absolutely had issues with full impulse not disengaging if i rapidly activate and deactivate it.

I often unselect targets via activating skills/tray icons for some bizarre reason. And I share the full impulse thingy occasionally, though I suspected it was due to lag/my not so great machine not registring my click the first time.

I always though I was kind of stupid having that happened.
It did happen for a while, like most said, mostly in more crowded areas.

I'm pretty sure it IS connected to some ability, but I was unable to find out which one. Could be attack pattern beta or tactical team, I usually activate those (+ couple of others) together, and most times it happens when buffing my damage up. Which is especially annoying.

I always had the feeling that for some reseason one of those targets a friend/allied and then you attack your friends/allieds target.

This happens to me constantly. CONSTANTLY.

At first I thought enemies were using some skills but I become pretty sure that wasn't the case. Its most noticeable with my Klingon who uses one of the MACO shields. Sometimes it just seems like I am placating myself rather than my enemies.

Since Season 9, its become harder to even target enemies. Sometimes Tab doesn't seem to lock on to anyone or instead of targeting the ship that is 5 meters directly in front of me, it targets some ship I cant even see. Probably 1/2 the time something gets targeted that isn't even in my firing arcs

I've had this problem intermittently throughout the life of the game. Season 9 added it to the deactivating the full impulse button. Quite embarrassing!

I'm pretty sure that its not an enemy ability.
Because it happens a lot to me right before decloaking.
Pick target - damage buff - decloak.-.... I suddenly have another target. Mostly behind me or something.

But to me that happened since that game went live. Not seance season 7 or something, that was always the case.
