So I know that the "new" arc launcher is not required. But It will be eventually.
So now as I continue to stare at the Khan uniform ad, I am wondering, is it worth getting the launcher now, or waiting till I have no choice? Is the in-game aspect of the game still the same (meaning all I will see is a different way of getting into the game)? Do i gain/lose anything by getting ARC now (other then the aforementioned Khan outfit)?
If you want the Khan outfit, boot through Arc once, then dump the client.

Get it now and get it over with. There will be tons of people (especially the first person who just poked you) who will tell you to get it just for the Khan outfit, then dump Arc and go with the old launcher. Right now, nothing's changed at all with Arc. It's just a launcher that goes into a launcher (Launcherception), but as it stands, keep it and just don't mess with it. Unlike what other tinfoil hat wearers will tell you, it does nothing bad to your computer except just exist.
Have had Arc running on my new PC, and it doesn't cause any problems whatsoever. If anything the game seems to run better slightly. Having had to re-install the game on my new PC I pretty much didn't really have a choice of whether or not to install it, but whatever problems people seem to have is they either don't turn off various data sharing capabilities when they first install it (Data sharing is optional), nor does it cause ads or anything else harmful. Does it have links to install other PWE games? Of course it does, but your not obligated to install or use them either, and they have improved it that it will only show games you do have installed in the quicklaunch screen when you first log in.
People just hate change, and that's understandable if your used to something for years and years and then sudden have it change, but in all honesty Arc is not some scary monster or virus ridden software people make it out to be. Besides that it has really come along way in the last year and is much easier to use. Plus there's the added benefit that you don't have to type in your credentials every time you try to launch a game, as long as your signed into Arc, it does that for you. All you need to do is hit 'play' and the game launcher will start, (if it needs to patch it will do so, before the play option becomes available), however you do not need to retype your ID or password into this secondary launcher, you'll just be able to play straight away once it has patched (If needed).

I use steam and only used the ARC client once for the Khan outfit. While it is a likelihood that the ARC Client will be required...I doubt they would disallow steam being used as an alternative, would be silly to do IMO considering they sell stuff on their.
If you want it go ahead. You will not see any differences in game if you use ARC, steam or the launcher.
Steam, as of last month when I went to PWE, will still be an alternative when ARC goes mandatory.*
However, due to this will turn into a I hate arc, ARC is fine type of discussion thread I'm going to close this down as the main question has been answered.
* = This is always subject to changes as with anything in the MMO industry things can change without much notice.
