Why do Rep boxes drop mk xi and mk xii rare gear?

If all rep strore items, and gear have been changed to mk xii VR only, than why are we getting rare mk xi, and mk xii items?

    Because we are not supposed to get the fluffy MK XII THAT easily for free.

    I invested more then 100k into romulan plasma which more or less for free now... kind of frustrating...

    Than they should have never devised such a system of free goodies in the first place.

    They do drop VR mk xii items, but there shouldn't be rare mk xi and mk xii if all rare items, and mk xi items were removed from the rep system.

    I don't mind it dropping items I won't use, it's like playing the lotto you can't hit the jackpot every time, and for my newer characters who aren't fully equipped "free" equipment is awesome to start raking in when I hit 50 now, I can always replace a XI rare with a XII VR when I either A) unlock what I really wanted (a dhc is a dhc but I do want the mods I want) or B) happen to find it in a box at some point.

    I like these drops, you can always sell the stuff you don't want and earn more EC then you spent in the first place.

    Any surplus weapons and gear get distributed among unused ships and BOFFs.
