New Episode Poor

1. What's the point of having and equiping your away team BOFFs if you don't get to use them, equiping them and using these are a huge part of the game !

2. It's very very linear bad enough the ground stuff but the run on the plant killer when you only move in a straight line with one shot ships is comedy bad.

3. You don't have to do anything except open a few doors on the ground Tuvoc will kill everything or in space just move your ship forward in space and the NPCs kill everything.

4. Cut Scenes last longer than game play and then when you get any gameplay is constantly interupted.

Compared to the older episode missions which used to give you freedom of movement and choice, this is very poor.

There is far more playable content in the old standard patrol missions than this.

As said I thought is was very poor but I may well be in the minority here but is this what people want ?

I hope you're not a troll, or else I'm making a mistake. Your points seem valid though, so I'm getting involved. :)

    1. I kind of agree here. As a Fed it seemed weird to have ensigns as the security for the conference, when my away team have already proven themselves in combat, and are familiar with the sphere.

Having said that, I actually like the solo missions. In fact, I wish that the Devonian Story arc was single player, I think it would suit it better.

    2. I can see why you would feel that way, but, from my point of view, they're just telling a story. I really liked the 'trench run', because by that stage of the story I was completely over the space combat. It was a good way to allow us to be part of the story without causing even more player fatigue.

    3. I would love to argue with you on this - but I simply can't, because you're 100% correct. All I can say is that you can get through it much quicker if you actually get involved.

    4. Press 'Escape' to skip most of the cutscenes. For the record, MANY of their cutscenes are now skippable, even in the older missions. There are still cutscenes we can't skip though, like the one at the end of Sphere of Influence.

    ***

You ask "Is this what we want?"

I am of 2 minds about it, but ultimately I am really happy with the direction that the story is headed. To be honest, I think they could just stop working on the storyline for a few months - not because other stuff needs fixing (although it does), but because I would like time to assimilate (no pun intended) the new stories and what they mean for STO. Yes, they should stop working just because I said so, haha!

The first time I played through the FE, I was blown away. It felt EPIC, more than any other mission I've played.

It felt like the END OF THE GAME, and I don't mean in the "The game is doooooomed" way.

It felt, to me at least, like the pay off.

Sounds like you didn't like it, and I feel for you - but I thought it was fantastic. Not 'perfect' - but highly 'enjoyable' (to me the story matters as much as the gameplay, if not more).

    To me, at least.

Let me put it like this: It's easily ten times better than I could do. :)

    Thanks for the reply

I think we can have the full story and the gameplay as we did have in the early episodes series and original missions in the game.

The mechanics of the ground game were not designed for one's character to operate alone, hence the limited skills, sci healer ,eng support, tac DPS etc, it required the away team to provide support skills to complement those your class lacked, the same as one has to group with other classes for STF's. The same as the TV shows the away team always generally had a collection of skills working together.

I am sure you could still get the story line but with more player involvement.

Just be glad this not one of the MGS games. Boy to they have cutscenes, cutscenes that equals movies. Granted, they are very very good cutscenes, but it gets a bit boring when there's more cutscenes than actual game play, but that's MGS for you.

Your points about BO's are valid in the new episodes, got them all decked out, but nowhere to go. I would gladly have taken one or two with me, much like in the Voth BZ. They only briefly appear in communications and in person very briefly in Step Between Stars just before you beam back to your ship from Dyson Joint Command.

I can only hope that future FE's will include our BO's, not just the player and a "Hero" NPC like Worf or Tuvok. Worf and Tuvok are cool, but I would in fact prefer one or two trusted BO's to join me...

You actually see your bridge crew there? I have gone in as all three factions and had Tovan Khev and a mixed group of Starfleet and kdf standing around that I had waiting there. (Even for non romulans.)

Nor should they be. Their ships would look weird.
