Science Heavy Mogai?

Anyone interested in the new Mirror Mogai Retrofit?

If it stays true to the blog post it sounds interesting, though I would have liked to have seen Sci abilities and not just console/BoFF slots, at least it gives options to change your build a little from just a spacebar masher.

Thoughts?

Except that ship already exists twice as the T5 T'varo or T5 Dhelan with their universals set to sci, only those turn better and have fleet versions available. Only real reason to use this I think is because either you're a seriously cash-strapped player and this will replace your freebie Ha'feh, or because you really like the Mogai's aesthetics. This'll be great for a nice cheap fun f-ing around ship or maybe as a cheap change of pace from your normal D'deridex or Scimitar or something, but for the kind of number-crunchers that lurk around these forums its just cosmetic. *shrugs*

Wow ... Show me on this EMH where the bad Tribble touched you ...

Not everyone has cash to burn, or has been playing for years and has the resources for Fleet Ship variants you know.

I do have almost all C-Store ships, and several Fleet variants, but I can still appreciate a new variant with several unique options, in the Romulan Line-up, particularly for me, as the Mogai is one of my favourite designs in Star Trek.

I have a Sci Rom toon, and she likes her Dyson ship, but she prefers (read; loves) her Mogai/Valdore kit bash, so she might actually like this ship, and I'll probably get one for her and see how it goes.

I'm more interested in what people think of possible playstyles and equipment, will you fly one? How would you fly it? Is it just a sugar coated, half baked attempt to keep Sci Rom playing people happy? Or is it a viable design? ...

The Mogai's my favorite Romulan ship design and now it can spit gravity wells -- I'm interested.

So am I, and yes the price is right ;)

The sci-heavy ships are really nice, and literally ships I would definitely play were I leveling another toon. Which is now more than likely.

Stats aside, it does add the mirror skin to your mogai collection, which is a good thing.

I'm thinking that the layouts are kinda dysfunctional. It's possible to doff them into working, but given that the point of Mirror ships is that they're cheap junk for new players, this seems like a poor choice to invest doffs into, as any doff used is permanently ruined.

My, my, that naughty Tribble does get around ... Seems he's been touching a lot of players ...
    ......

As I said, I would have liked to see Cryptic actually class this as a Science Ship, and give it the Sci powers, but considering the lineup currently for Romulan's, I'll take what I can get.

I also wouldn't call the mirror ships "junk", their not spectacular, but they are a way for players to get some retrofit love, without the C-Store price tag, but mostly it's just the "option" of a different layout and playstyle.

I love playing about in Science ships, 'coz I'm not one of "those" min/maxers, I simply play the game to have fun ... because you know, it's supposed to be entertainment.

I'll save up/buy one, and see how it goes and see what I can do with it, I have several Rom toons, in all three classes, so I'll have a play. I'm liking the idea of being able to throw out a few Grav Well's and maybe a Rift or two ... might be fun for a change.

I always hesitated if I should spent my VA token on a "classic" D'Deridex or the awesome Mogai and therefore haven't gotten any on any romulan toon.

This way I will at least have A Mogai on them (also, it will be nice having a GW on them^^) unless they are too expensive on exchange.

Same for the Fed ship, I always liked the Nova design, but the fleet version being the only t5 version available yet (as far as I know).... THAT much I didn't like it. I'll probably get sone of those too, given the price isn't to high.

Last but not least... a nice raptor for my KDF in case I get sick of my Hegh'tas hull will be helpful too.

All in all, this is the first lineup of mirror ships that includes ANY ships I want to have... funny enough that I end up wanting to have all of them...

I'm kind of interested; not like really interested... but a little. This is what the Mogai was going to be, but they decided, at the last minute, to swap the layout with that of the Dehlan (because those big thin wings, and long the slender neck, apparently suggest 'tough and durable' to Cryptic).

I'd planned to get one before they changed it; now I may be getting one after all.

Its a Dhelan with a Mogai skin.

Can be useful, but if you want a Mogai looking warbird, the fleet Mogai is still the best.
Let us wear Swimsuits on Foundry maps or bridges please! I would pay zen for that.

True, I love my Fleet "MoggyVal" kitbash, and it's a serious butt kicker ...
But Fleet ships are character bound, and I can't really justify (yet) spending the extra on another Fleet variant for an Alt ...

If they run true to most other Mirror ships, they will probably be around 150000 EC, although due to the "newness" of them, they may be more to start with, plus these 3 ships seem to be a little cut above some of the other mirror variants.

Still, I farmed a LOT of SRO's to sell during the double XP week, so I've got a "bit" of EC spare, once the hype dies down for S9, I might take a look.

I just like the option of some Sci abilities on a Mogai, and being able to use consoles to enhance them somewhat, instead of respec'ing my toon.

As a new player, I think they are a good add. I like my Mogai but didn't want to spend the $20 on a refit in the C-store, at least not right now. At 150k EC though, I can drop that without thinking too much about it and even if it isn't the ultimate end game ship, I can still have alot of fun goofing off with the Mirror version.

Also, I have a Rom Science Captain at 35 right now and it will be nice to have a Science Focused Mogai for my grinder until I hit level 50 and transfer him over to my Tulwar (or maybe even keep as as my go to grinder for a while if I have fun with it).

I really think people are under-estimating this ship as a whole. I have this ship now on my Romulan Tactical and think I will be keeping this as my main ship for a long time. No it isn't a scimitar (and personally, I refuse to own one) but it's essentially a C-store 9 console ship for veritable pennys. It only has 3k less hull than the Fleet Mogai and .1 less shield. Instead of the universal, it is a Science seat and the only thing I would say against this ship as a whole is I do wish there were more than just 2 engineer slots. Not to put engineer consoles since stacking is a waste but just for future universals. All in all, you are getting a hell of a ship for a great price (atm, going for 500k) and will pilot the hell out of it.

As for as playstyle, I am still feeling my way around it but I might switch out Tovan's CSV3 with an Omega 3 boff and putting in TT/CSV/TS/Omega while in the ensign Tac a CRF. Engineering, probably either EPtW and ET or Aux2sif while running Hazards/TSS/GW in the Lt. Cmd. Sci slot and Polarize Hull/Tractor Beam in the Lt Sci slot.

I like the mogai for its appearance and I like the dhelan for its boff layout. A mogai with a more science heavy layout was what I wished for the next lockboxes - and volia, a dream comes true.

I've always liked the Mogai, and Gravity Wells, so i will be picking this up at some point despite having the regular Mogai retrofit. Looks like fun and cheap to boot considering how easy EC are to come by.

For varieties sake, introducing mirror retrofits was one of their best ideas. Low cost fun for PVE. Currently having a blast in the new mirror Nova on my Fed and dream of the day we get a more tacticaly minded mirror Galaxy. :D

My only complaint is there's no Fleet version of it. :\

There just isn't a Science-oriented Warbird out there that I like the looks of that has a Fleet version. The Mirror Mogai gives me what I was looking for and only requires the manageable sacrifice of forgoing Fleet quality.

I'm not a competitive player so basically anything T5 fleet or not are fine tho.

If the Ion thingy lighting bolt console could be used on it (which, last I checked, it couldn't for some reason), it'd be great to Grav Well a mob and fire the lighting bolt, damaging everything in a straight line with the target.

I love the idea of this ship. And already bought one off the exchange for my Tac Romulan to use. With the Ha'feh being Tac set up, and the D'deridex being Eng set up. This will round out my ships very nicely with a Sci based one. By giving her a good options for any mission. I was going to spend $20 for the refit from the C-store, but this was a better deal. So I can spend the $ for the Mogai on something else. Like the Avenger or something to boost my characters from the service selections.

To me its a win all the way around.

yeah it sucks...it must be a bug. I remember they missed the MVAM console with it's mirror version.

I finally got to use my new Sci Mogai "Mirror". Its a very nice ship indeed. Nice firepower and defense to keep on fighting. I used it on the Breen while doing my Deferia run for Dil for the event. I'm impressed with the ship. Money well spent from the Exchange for it. Now my Tac Romulan has all 3 type ships. A Tac, Eng, and Sci set ups. Now this new addition will become part of my ship rotation when I get on that Character. I like to rotate my ships to mix it up.

I already had the Mogai retrofit, but the Mirror Mogai is a nice addition.

It works great with the Romulan space sets, just gravwell your enemies and start pumping them full of hyper-plasma torpedos. The splashdamage here will affect quite a number of enemies that weren't targetted.

IMO more variety, or variants of ships are a great idea, as not everyone wants the ship load out it may have, but likes everything else about it, but offer a slight difference, and it may compel them to use it.

I recently bought this ship for my level 27 Sci toon. Can't use it yet though so it is just sitting in the inventory for now. It should offer a decent change of pace to the T5 Ha'nom since it is more focused on combat than science.
