Was playing fine earlier, saw the "shard coming down in 30 minutes" message, so logged off.
Dual-installed linux.. watched a movie.. (space balls!) then came back to star trek. (either way, plenty of time for the maintenance to take place.)
Forum post was updated, saying that the maintenance was completed.
So I opened up the launcher, logged in, waited for the update to download, upon completion, I stared the game, but I get "connection to account server timed out."
Closed the game, re-opened the launcher, and the launcher refuses to open. "connection to the patch server timed out.", "Unable to establish connection to patch server." or "The patchclient got a message while it was in a state with no response function."
I downloaded the latest launcher from the stickied thread, still no luck.
Funny how I was playing fine earlier on the same connection/global IP. Yet after maintenance I am unable to connect at all.
I am able to ping patchserver.crypticstudios.com without trouble. If a dev could come along and let us know of a better way to test our connection to this server (via FTP or HTTP download test perhaps, or even an open port number that the patcher connects on) that would be great.
I just disconnected and got myself a new global IP, same problem.
Used my phone as an internet gateway, same problem.
Cryptic get yo' act together. ~.~
This same issue plagued me for weeks at the LOR launch, until it magically resolved itself.
Anyone got the same problems since the patch/maintenance today?
or is it a local problem do you think? (I seriously doubt this, but I'm open to suggestions because I'd like to play again.)
I laughed, honestly I did. yes, I have restarted many times, I've just installed the new IE security patch, I shall restart and try again. (heck I'm just trying anything now.)
I believe I`m having the same issue. Prior to the patch, I was playing with no problem. After the patch I go to log in and after a awhile I get this: "Fatal Error: Unable to initialize on demand patching and connect to Patch Server: The Connection was idle for too long."
A window pops up, to enter details of my problem to Cryptic, I start to type and it disappears. Another comes up to "verify files." I`ve done that 3 times. (Each takes about 10 minutes). I`m still unable to log in. Still getting the same error message.( even after shutting down computer and restarting). Don`t know what else to do.

Yeah I got that same crash.. But I cant even start the launcher or login via gameclient.exe anymore, so I am unable to replicate it.
Ive put it down to a connection issue, and am blaming whoever hosts the servers on Star-trek's end.
Try my link here I came to the conclusion that the Cryptic link for "the latest launcher" is in fact not the latest launcher when I tried using it recently.
If you get Error 36 try making sure the launcher is not read only (right click>Properties), if that doesn't doesn't stop it or isn't read only then you should repeat the process with all the other game files.
Well my launcher just came back to life while it wasn't working before I watched a few episodes of adventure time. Perhaps it needed entertaining.
Whatever Cryptic did their side, it's working for me again, for those of you still with the problem, I'd suggest downloading the stickied launcher, replacing the old one, and then watching a few cartoons before launching it.
Funny enough, now I play without disconnects, although that might have been me assigning a static IP address to this laptop and turning off on demand patching. Who knows. All I know is I can enjoy the game again.
I get the same thing you guys get. Trying to run game thru Arc, Arc constantly times out trying to log me in.
Running thru the STO launcher I got the initial patch, but same error message about connecting to the on demand patcher.
After turning off the on demand patching in the launcher it patched a further 4gb's but even though I have the on demand patching off I am STILL getting errors trying to start the game with it saying it timed out trying to connect to the on demand patcher...
No problems playing the game before today. Now the whole system is half overloaded somehow or broke again. <sigh>

Still nothing for me, Ima re-download the launcher from the sticky and try again.
