Question on AMP Warp Core

lowy1lowy1 Member Posts: 964 Arc User
I am planning on swapping the Obelisk for an AMP Elite Warp Core. The question is should I drop my weapon power from 125 to 100 in order to get my Engine and Aux to 75 for the damage bonus?

I don't have the Plasmonic Leech Console so not very familiar with it, would that be a better option?

yeah the leech would be a better choice since it's +power to all systems when used, dropping your power 25 points is probably more detrimental than losing the +6%ish you'd get from engines and aux, but without your entire build I can't say there's better places to get power, keep in mind the elite cores can move power from A>B as well as boost a low power system depending on the core

Are those your powers when sitting or with aux2bat/eptw/epts running?

You would be fine with throwing the amp core on aux will never be at 75 due to aux2bat drain.

    Just a couple thoughts...

Another beam array would yield better results due to full broadside advantage.

A epte instead of epts will give you much need maneuverability

Hyper fleet turn engines would be a sexy addition as well
Swapping to full DBBs is also an option. You can keep the torp and with the use of epte you can bring yourself around quicker to destroy everything in front.

One final thing, pick up the nukara console, 10% acc across the board for beams is something one shouldn't pass up.

The plasmonic leech is practically a cheat...grab one if you can.

    Cheers
    Chive on and prosper, eh?

If you have the ec and have 9 spec'ed into flow caps (or are willing to respec), get leech.

Otherwise, you're better off with the extra AP damage you already have. And weapon overcapping is the key to beam boat success.

Looking at your build, I'd switch the Omega torp for the Grav torp, extra critical chance seems better to me. And pick up the Nukara console.

As long as you grab a core that does X>E you should be ok, although your aux2batt should push you to 75+ engines anyway, from the standpoint of antiproton damage? you won't see a huge change though since 3 systems at 75 gives you 3.3 per system(note I think this scales with some skill since I thought mine claimed 3.8) giving you 9.9 all damge instead of 10 ap only(so lose .1 ap gain 9.9 torps and the kcb) you'd need quite a few runs on a parser to really measure that

Those are sitting outside ESD. I thought about the Fleet Engine but I like the AP Bonus on the Rommy. I guess I could get one to try. Before the Avenger, I was flying Space whales so it feel maneuverable to me LOL.

That is the next itme to get. That and try it with TS 1, I am getting tired of ships being dead before the projectile gets there.

I love the AMP core on escort. Using it with an RMC for a decloak alpha is awesome.
Hey I Used to be Captain Data, well I guess I still am in game but the account link really screwed everything up

It is not worth it. Until you can keep your weapon power maxed, stick with the OB core.

Leech is nice. With flow caps it adds around 20 to all power levels, give or take.
Sci skill to steal power (energy siphon) is also useful. leech is always active if you are shooting. OMEGA shield to add power when being shot is a third power up, 10 per system. With all that stuff, you can keep max weapon power and 75 in all while in combat, getting the AMP bonus. Its a lot easier to do as kdf where leech is cheap :)

At 100 weapon power, soon as you start shooing it will drop into the 70s and may even fall below 75. This not only lowers your dps due to low weapon power, it also weakens the amp bonus if you fall too low, and it totally removes any use of beam overload (but your ship does not support that skill anyway IIRC so that is a non issue).

remember though that fleet cores have a redirect on them. Can you make it with weapons-> engines? Also note that the OB core adds aux power, will that drop too much?

Amp core is the way to go if you can resolve these issues and get your levels at 75+ with max weapon power. But if you cannot, the ob core is better for now.

Below are the 2 I am looking at getting. I am leaning toward the W->A since my weapon power is 125-130 outside ESD and with EPtW during missions I am always well over 100. Plus the Hypercharged Cores add to both Engine and Auxillary, which would put my engine power close to 75. I don't need the Eff per say but it seems like it is the better overall of the other stats it competes with.
