Voth Overpowered?

ageroth1ageroth1 Member Posts: 129 Arc User
I noticed that the Voth in The Breach (Elite) were vastly more powerful and were landing far too many critical hits, far more than was previously experienced. Were the elite mission enemies given power boosts or something when Season 9 was released?

The Voth were not enhanced, but your own power might be reduced. The change to the Reputation Traits system means that you no longer have all of your accumulated Traits automatically active--you can choose four Space, four Ground, and four click-able Traits/Powers from the list of ones that you have accumulated, but you need to have gone and manually set up which ones you want to use after Season 9 went live. Until you go and set up your Reputation Traits manually, you will have none of them equipped at all.

I'm guess most forgot to reset their traits. It happens, I did that on Tribble. But you can swap them out of an alert on the fly, so experiment. Takes a few to get used to, but worth it.

Personally I wish they'd give us 2 less active slots and 2 more ground/space slots.

There are very few T5 powers I like and a ton of T1-4s that I do.

I respec my toons as best as I can, nevertheless against the Voth I last no more than a score of seconds.
Truth be known: my mates in the PUG weren't more successful.
Maybe change the Voth accordingly to the new trait system could be wise.

This is not allegedly a simple "trait" issue. The Voth have indeed been buffed, as my VA caitan with a s' golth could pretty easily take out a group if those Voth turrets and the bulwark that be posted there... today it took me THIRTEEN re spawns to end one fing node. Oh yeah did I forget to mention the 123k crit hit a Voth turrets torps landed on me? Yeah. Real funny -.- also, before you ask my char only has t1 I. All reps, so no space traits yet, so yes the Voth got exponentially buffed. Fight fire with fire eh? :p

This is not a traits issue, I know how to set mine even after S9,and even running all the best purely defensive rep traits on my very best tankiest ship build doesn't help at all.

I am seeing the same problem in the Voth Contested space zone as well. I like to do this zone purely for fun, no queus, no waiting, just flying around doing endless space combat for hours on end, it was perfectly fine yesterday, still very challenging, but manageable, and fun, after this mornings patch (4/23/14 patch) it has become completely impossible to assault a tower group without at least 2 or 3 people. Everything about the Voth has been completely ridiculously buffed, their fire goes through my shields like they don't exist, get caught in a few of their grav well spams, and my hull, on a ship running near 60% resistances to all damage and very high hull health, goes from max to zero in about 5 seconds.

This isn't buffed, this is broken.

the current voth issues is widely known and appears to be affecting all toons and many areas not just one pve. I hope we see this bug/balance/change issue addressed soon or at least under review for the next bug patch. you have to understand we are not complaining because content got harder. we are complaining because it got borked and because those queues and events just aren't getting run atm.

playing a game should be fun.
dying 25 times to kill a turret isn't fun its rather boring after the first 10 or so. repeat? laugh umm no why.

This is stupid since you can have almost ALL your space traits activated, as we said millions of times. Yes you will not have all your reputation traits, but the difference between now and before is not so high, in fact, now its probably that with all your space traits activated, you should have even more resources to kill everything.

I love it. It's nice to a a slight challenge now compared to before. Mashing spacebar should not get you through encounters.

I thingk the Voth are some of the strongest enemies in game. I can destroy a wing of Borg Probes or BoP wit one Beam Fire-at Will salvo but not the Voth frigates.

    Being insta-killed at random by any voth ship isn't a challenge, it's a cop-out.

I heard about this and ran elite breach last night with a mate, and yes, the crits do feel a little out of hand in places.

That is because borg probes or bops are the weakest enemies of the game lol. Even with mkV equpment and the worst equipment of the game you will be able to kill groups of probes and bops at ease in just a few seconds. HELL, only using the point defense system i can kill em in about 4-5 seconds LOL.

The Voth from the battlezone are a completely different story.

I know that BoP and Probes, even the ones from Elite STFs are incredibly weak but so are Federation frigates like the Miranda or Centaur or Jem`hadar ships. I am just saying that the Voth Palisade frigates are the weakest Voth ships but that the only thing they have in common with other frigates. Finally the enemies have gotten stronger. and i also think that Voth Bulwark and Bastion Cruiser are stronger than the undine cruisers

No reason to bring on Mk XIII weapons though ;)

BTW when the Voth ships use their immunity ability why does it say "immune" with every hit from my weapons but some other team members still hit hard.

No. Jem Hadar scouts are harder, Hirogen scouts are harder, and a lot more small enemy ships are far harder than the borg probes and the bops. I think its more a fail than anything else. And even if the Voth palisade frigates are weak, they still are stronger than most of the ships of that size out there.

Voth always had been stronger, they said it when the season was launched. They are far harder than any other , including the Undine.

But still, i can kill em with MKI non fleet / rep equipment with ease, so.

I have to agree with the OP something changed with the Voth in Breach.

I have not forgot to set my traits and Voth heavy turrets were landing 75k hits on me. With fleet shields on a Mogh. The Voth battleships torps were one shotting me in torp spread even through brace for impact.

Something changed.. I do not think its the rep nerf that can account for that much of a damage difference. I used to be able to clear all the turrets in one uncloak with faw/a2b attack and now im instant killed coming out of cloak. Only way I was able to kill a heavy turret group was hit and run will all cool downs up and I still was getting one shot at times.

First thing I did after logging in was fix my traits. I even waited a day on one character because of the racial traits bug. Then I took my Mirror Negh into a Breach.

All five of us, the others being three Avengers and an Odyssey, got our heads handed to us repeatedly. There was even a TPK at one point. I have never seen that before. And this was a team gathered from an elite STF channel, not a true pug.

Voth ships definitely got sneak-buffed. After that I found it simpler to use the Dyson battlezone to fill my rep projects, and this is from a guy who, while I don't hate ground, I don't go out of my way to play it.

So I've played the Breach (Elite) several times since the changes, and the more I play the more I realize...I love what they've done. I don't know if it was on purpose or if it was an accident, but I hope it stays this way. I realize that a lot of people will say I'm crazy, but I love the fact that this mission now requires teamwork and strategy. Players need to stick together during the first phase and coordinate their attack. When attacking nodes tanks should go in first, heavily buffed with damage resistance and supported with cross healing from other players. Science ships can cast skills like Tyken's to nerf the damage output of turrets and Bulwarks. Tactics are key, which may be why so many people are upset by the changes (this game usually doesn't require much in the way of tactics). The Breach is now a legitimate challenge, and one of the few missions that actually deserves the moniker "elite". I truly hope they don't change it back.

Or maybe they are upset due to no heads up that things were changed that much?

They need to give us the option to go all ground or all space...I mean they don't force us to do that with standard traits...reduce the number to 6 if they must...just sticking to 4 I don't like.

Good point. Regardless of whether we agree/disagree over the changes, we can definitely agree that they should have given everyone advanced notice.

Yes, they should have said something. It's another stealth thingy......

It also affects UNdine content by the way.
