After doing the new Undine PvE a couple of times

Note that I haven't played elite yet and my comments are based on the "normal" mode.

  • The missions take too long for too little reward. Half an hour for a silly 20 marks? No way people will keep doing them...
  • Undine Assault:
    • Needs more rewards.
    • Needs better spawning of players, started with 3 top, 2 bottom. I go mid to even out 2:1:2 and suddenly I have 3 mid and non on top.. I know it's hard for some people to understand English, but having you spawn properly will reduce the "Chaos" this causes
    • Right after Undine ships spawn, you can't stop them from moving, not even with a tractor beam. Result: They end up behind you all the time.
    • The "boss" fight is rather annoying, 2.8m HP and no tactic. You should hover above it and spam your skills for 10 minutes.
  • Viscous Cycle:
    • The "beaming" should work, even when pulled or attacked, OR
    • The "beaming" should have a bigger area, it's hard to find cover without crashing your ship inside one of those things.
    • The arc you can hit the factories is too small and
    • with all the annoying gravity pulls, impossible to do anything if you have a 45/90 degrees setup, especially on a ship with a slow turn rate.
  • The moving if your ship is cool, it feels like you're under water
  • The spam of gravity pulling "TRIBBLE" should be heavily reduced. I find myself unable to move over half the time of the PvE fights.

I was really looking forward to the new PvE and Undine Assault has quite some potential.. But with the above issues I feel unsatisfied with the result compared to my expectations :(

Enlarged beam area and beaming even when under fire, enthusiastically seconded.

They could increase the time it takes to beam if that balances things out.

Assault on Elite is nasty. The command ships are made of tissue paper and blow up when an Undine looks at it. My last try had me in it for half an hour and we only closed two rifts.

As for Cycle on Elite, that was more manageable, and the reward was decent. With a good team it should take no more than 20 minutes to run.

Assault elite is ridiculous for a PUG to complete, the average group cannot even close 1-2 rifts let alone complete the thing.

They spawn way too many ships, and spam their cheap torpedoes and disappearing act way to much along with their fluidic rifts and goo.

This elite mission is about of big of fail, as the elite hive.

Tried breach elite - bugged as all get out. When an engineer in a fleet mogai is getting one shotted something isn't right.
Tried new content - I don't get out of bed for elite content that gives less than 60 marks.
Tried starbase fleet defense - one siege didn't spawn and it was stuck.

seems like crystalline entity is the only thing that gives high fleet marks still working reliably.

I actually managed to beat it with a PUG, even with one man short. Took us about an hour, though.

Way too much spam and way to many Dromias cruisers which leads to bubbles galore. Where the hell are the Nicors in this one? Were they on strike or something?
Mix it up a little, for heavens sake.

Is each member of your group doing less than 1k dps?

Because 2.8M for 10 minutes for a group of 5 is just that. In infected borg space, 2.8M is less than half of what you have to do damage and people do it in 2-3 mins, 5-7 mins in a bad group.

If your group is averaging less 1k dps, Undine Assault aint for you.

don't forget the bug in assault that'll have you stuck at spawn if you die, happened to me once, luckily i was in a pretty nice pug group who was all like "oh you're stuck at spawn? that's ok bro, we'll take it from here, you just chill" nice to meet some decent people for once

The tutorial doesn't even explain the function of the command cruisers. They do need to elaborate that first so people don't mistakenly rush ahead and leave it to die.

I did multiple quick entries on normal, I can't choose who I end up with and I sadly hate being main DPS as science with 15 in main weapons power.

I can't force people to log just to play with me, I won't leave my fleet because of this either (a lot of players in the american time zone while I'm from europe).

The normal mission should be doable with even the worst pugs, elite is there for pre-mades.

Isn't this the part they're nerfing more aggressively? REWARDS? Dude...
My Old Blog about things that could and should have been added when I wrote it. Not sure what I want to do with it now. I'll just keep it available now that most of it is outdated.

Admittedly the thing at the end has silly-high resistances. My Gal-X is normally a 15k boat, not sooper-leet but acceptable, and its critting for just a couple hundred a shot, so that might be a bit overkill on the durability front. And thats on Normal (marks are the same, and I'm lazy), so its entirely possible that there ARE people queuing up for that that are under 1000 dps. I understand they want to encourage us to drop a few dollars on the new weapons, but this is kind of an obnoxious way of going about it.

Good positioning always gets you better dps since this planet killer if it hits you, if you survive, pushes you a few kilometers away. If you keep getting hit by this planet killer you will end up beyond the reach of you weapons or will lower the dps of your weapons because of the different position. I never experienced a group 10 mins to kill the planet killer especially since you have a npc fleet with you besides your 5 man group with lots of buffs and debuffs to go with it.

I would recommend people not doing Undine Assault with a PUG nor do Undine Assault for Marks farming.

Infected space or Storming the spire was practical to farm than going through Hive or Breach. There is no point of forcing the issue on Undine Assault when there are much easier missions than Undine Assault.

You dont have to buy few dollars to go beyond 1k dps on a ship. Even if you dont buy anything with real money at all, you can surpass 10k dps.

Assault is another action that is easy if you know what to do, but still isn't worth it given the time needed.

The key is to concentrate on one lane at a time. Split into two groups: group one escorts the command ship, group two heads to the rift and blockades it.

Having group two at the rift intercepting and aggroing everything deprives the command ship of things to shoot at, and considerably speeds up its movement.

Group one simply cleans up anything that gets past the rift before group two gets into blocking position.

    Rinse and repeat six times.

Actually, you only need an escort group for the first segment of the 2nd and 3rd lanes, because there the Undine will be attacking the start point. For the other segments, the entire team can go straight for the rift.

I do wish the status display would be more accurate. A closed rift's indicator colour should always be blue. Right now, if the Undine push allied forces back from a closed rift, the indicator returns to red.

Frankly both of these 5 man missions are terrible because:

You can do the exact same thing, in a larger group (so you don't need tactics), MUCH faster, and get MUCH more of a reward in the Undine Battlezone.

There's a reason why nobody is running them despite them being brand new - the rewards stink.

I first thought Viscous Cycle was pretty cool...until I discovered that the final report is actually a LIE, and you do NOT receive 100-something marks for the mission. Opening the box and finding that all you got was a lousy 50-ish pretty much killed it, considering how long it is.

Oh yes, on my first try, I was not aware of that either, and we were fumbling around, until someone notices that not everyone of us did understand the purpose of the command cruisers.
