elite scorps fire heavy plasma torpedos. knock a shield down just before 12 of those bad boys impact and bye bye to most ships in the game.

my JHDC with a dbb shot and scorps vape cubes in about 20 seconds

Depends on your target and the mission you're up against. Swarmers do massive spikes and are beloved by the PVPers I know. Scorpions tear up structures with their high-yield plasmas. Widows throw out FAW for general DPS numbers. And all of them have a lifespan measured in seconds against the CE or Voth, and you need frigates instead. It just depends on what you're doing.

    in short:

Swarmers spam BO -> PvP (Because single target and Transphasics)

Widows spam FAW -> Generally useful

Scorpions spam Plasma HYT -> Borg (Because HYT Plasma mega boom on unshielded targets)

And to say that as well, the Plasma torp spam looks really cool, especially if you're using a Hyper torp yourself in addition :o

I rolled with elite scorpions for a long time, but their slow-moving hy plasma torps aren't much use in fast moving elite PvE, so I switched to elite swarmers and am much happier with them in general.

Elite scorps = High dps from torps on unshielded and stationary targets (i.e. most elite stfs). Torps give great splash damage on grouped targets. In starbase 24 fleet action Hy torps are shot down pretty quickly, i.e. they are targetable.

Elite Swarmers = High dps from beam overload on fast moving shielded and unshielded targets.

Elite widows = Are good, but don't take things down quickly, and draw too much aggro from FAW, leading to them dying much quicker than the two pets above. Also FAW splits damage up on different ships and isn't focused unless there is only one target in the immediate area, leading to less damage per ship.

IMO Elite Swarmers for PvE and Elite Yellowstones for PvP.

This is true. your enemy will decide what you use. When I am doing dyson missions I swap out my scorps for runabouts due to the NPCs FAW scorps don't last long. When doing the patrol missions for rommy marks the scrops are my go to as there is no FAW there.

Faw doesn't split damage, actually, it more than doubles it on 2 targets. It increases dmg slightly even with one target.

I have to ask if there is anything to be said for the jem'hadar pets. I have some elite fighters and I'm working on getting elite bugs. I like to keep things canon if I can so with my jem dread I'm hoping to have elite fighters in one hangar and bugs in the other.I am using jem XII set, full fleet polaron/quantum,fleet rcs res-all XII rep consoles tac converter, fleet tac consoles etcetc, helsman trait also. I've tried to get the most out of my build. I figured the fighters might draw fire from the frigates. And allow them to do more damage.
I get that this is a sub optimal pvp build but am I totally gimping myself in pve with this idea? And could my build do anything decent in pvp?
I've done some pvp with vastly differing results.

Since the OP was asking about what to mount on the Vesta, it wasn't really relevant to talk about the Jem pets.

Bug Hangars are probably the best hangars in the game, DPS roughly on par with the Elite Scorps in STFs, the ability to strip shields in PvE where that matters, and enough durability to survive the Voth decently. With their durabilty, I would run two hangars of the Bugs (even if one is EC or Dil Store, with the other Elite), as drawing fire from them is only really needed in No Win with the Bio-Neural warhead spam, and fighters wouldn't last long enough against those to be much help. Consider picking up the Wing Commander trait too for faster Rank up.

Thanks man, good feedback. And my bad for the offtopic post, just didn't think it was worth starting a thread for :)

I use Elite Swarmers on my own tac Vesta. Works nicely for PVE

i use fleet runabouts, the yellows. they really make life tough on targets, chrons , tractor and farting exhaust trails reallt debuffs their movement and defence ratings.

I only have enough to afford Advanced Peregrines at the moment for my Akira class, but I just encountered a moment in Surface Tension when I had a wing of about 15 NPC fighters behind me, plus my squadron, and they all launched a volley of torpedoes at once. It was the most spectacular explosion of an Undine battleship I've ever seen.

There's nothing quite like a volley of 20 photon torpedoes flying at an enemy ship.

    Go to KDF

Buy a Mirror Vo'Quv (they're always cheap AND powerful)

    Collect purple Birds of Prey

Enjoy new 'I Win @ Pet DPS' button.

    4 easy steps! lol

    *Awaits the hate*

Faw splits total damage up amongst targets in range, and focused when there is one target in range (same as it does on a starship). It gives relatively reasonable dps numbers due to Faw spam, but is not better than elite scorps or elite swarmers. I've tested each extensively on the Vesta and elite widows bottoms out all the time, probably due to dying more frequently because of Faw aggro grabbing. But they are still good, just not the best by a long shot.
